  1. That dude never said he was in the "inner loop" of anything. Just a Woodville supporter who voices their opinion on things going on in the Woodville program. Never hardly see half of yall with any input on Woodville unless you think you have some negative info. Where's he supposedly going and who did you here it from. Shouldn't be that complicated to share that information since you want to get on this site and spread gossip before its verified

Looking forward to seeing the talent level in WV. Probably a good time for the HC to meet with the little league coaches for advising about next steps.

There's plenty talent in Woodville. Gonna need a lot more than one player to leave before we run out of talent. Don't know why everybody likes to try and down play "Little league" coaches on here but "Little league" coaches played a huge part in building up the Woodville program FYI. I remember back before we had a little league program. We were mostly mediocre. Sometimes way below mediocre. These "little league" coaches are the guys who dont mind doing it for free while most of these ADs will catch the first train smoking if the money right.

I would wager that a higher percentage of coaches know what they're dealing with in that regard.. than the percentage of parents that know that their kid is in this situation.  Please note:  I'm not being judgmental nor am I saying that those kind of obstacles are impossible to overcome.. just stating that statistically it can make quite a difference.   Anyone that argues it doesn't is just ignorant on the subject.. or naive.

Its a difference in knowing and understanding. Coaches who understand will realize there's a different approach needed. But as I said before it takes a special coach in those situations.

That matters for sure.. but I think the way it matters is by way of households that are able to provide the tax revenue that contributes to those means of advertising (facilities, salaries, stipends, etc.).  Here's a great article outlining the obvious differences in the financial situations of Austin High School and Austin Lake Travis High School:

This is the hidden content, please

Two high schools not very far apart with similar(ish) enrollments.  Austin High has roughly 2400 students.. which is much less than LT, but 2400 is plenty to field a decent football team in almost all cases.  Vastly different average household incomes, though.  You have kids from LT driving BMW's to planet fitness during the summers to meet an ex pro-athlete for a workout.. while Austin High kids might be sitting at home or working a summer job to help put food on the table.

This applies at every classification across the state (country).  There are always exceptions, but more times than not:  High household income, 2 working parents, spending summers at strength/speed camps, not having to work summer jobs, having a reliable vehicle to make it to weight room/school, running with kids in similar situation, access to best facilities money can buy, personal trainer, personal tutor, etc. etc. etc.... A kid with access to the list I just gave will ALWAYS have a leg up on a kid that doesn't.  Now multiply that by entire teams/programs.  Start looking at the average household income of the schools that are habitually making deep runs.  The income translates to living situation.. which translates to property taxes.. which is a huge contributor to how public schools pay for facilities and teachers/coaches/stipends.

And coaches need to understand what situation theyre in. Kid A might have great support, financial backing, and access to all these different things while kid B might not even eat a decent meal outside of school or have a decent bed to get a good night of rest in. Those factors can show up in behaviors and habbits sometimes and if you don't consider  different living situations you might assume kid B is less deserving because he might seem less disciplined or motivated. You invest a little extra effort into kid B and you've got a diamond in the rough a lot of times though. I've seen it happen way too many times. It takes a special kind of coach in those situations though

While he threw a lot less passes than Babin, he completed 73/117 passes for 1683 yds with 17 TDs and 1 int. He also averaged 6 more yards per completion. Some of that probably had to do with them having a 2000 yd rusher while Woodville’s leading rusher didn’t break 600.

He played a couple more games and padded his stats against some of the weaker teams in district. Babin put up 2 or 300 yards on the regular and still had a higher completion percentage against teams that were expecting him to pass it while Foster caught teams slipping with  payaction passes vs 10 in the box

If Babin leaves, WV will become a little dog. Newton is really the only “big dog”.

Newton definitely looks like the head of the district right now. I surely wouldn't consider Woodville a "big dog" after what happened last year. I think we're the only team in the district that has beaten Newton in the last decade though. And we're 4-0 against Hardin the last 4 times we met beating them by at least 30 each time. We've missed the playoffs once in the last decade while Hardin has only made the playoffs 2 or 3 times in the last decade. Last year's Hardin team was exceptional but they lost a lot of key players from that team including the guy who lead in rushing yards and tackles I believe. They have a good OLine returning but lost the 3 top backs in a heavy running offense. Defense will not be the same without Jones.

That's every school, right?  They all have D1 running backs... if the coaches would just use the correct blocking schemes with the linemen.  Every team has a D1 quarterback... if the coaching staff would just call the correct offensive plays.  Every team should've won the state championship... if the coaches would've just implemented the right system.  Right?  Isn't that the way it works every year?

Sideline coaches are genuinely hilarious to me.  Genuinely.

You use the same talking points in every situation not realizing every situation is different. Woodville is not every other school. Yes, we have playmakers if the coaching staff utilizes them correctly. Do we have a State championship team? Maybe not. But there's probably not many teams outside of Newton in region 3 who could give us real problems

Why would Hardin not finish 2nd?  Why would they not compete for the District Championship?

Did they not beat Orangefield last year, who defeated Woodville 27-7 ?

Is Newton better than Hitchcock, who beat Silsbee?  Because, Hardin knocked off Hitchcock, or am I dreaming that?

Where does this narrative come from that Hardin is going to fall off the mountain they climbed, by only losing two players?

According to my sources, the two players lost to graduation,  were not given scholarships to play college football?

I was able to watch them online a few games and both of the RB's were exceptional, but perhaps some of that credit goes to the type of system they are in, with the size of that O-line, no?

Seems to me some will have to be re-shocked at what Mr. Coach Taylor is doing over there, in Hardin.

Your dreaming. Hardin lost everybody. They had one good class of players. The same class Brady played with before he moved to Anahuac. Those guys have graduated now

We know why they made it that far with Crumedy just like we know why they missed the playoffs with Crumedy.

I don't think Barbay ever missed while at Jasper. Not 100% sure about it though.

Barbay was probably never in a district as tough as the one Crumedy had either. Most disappointing thing about Crumedy's stay was the loss to Shepherd. I think low team morale played into that a little. Maybe if he had scheduled a little lighter for preseason they go into that game feeling a little better about themselves and possibly pull off a win. I don't think the people at Jasper care much for barely making the playoffs though. They want to be serious state contenders and that's probably why he scheduled the teams he scheduled.

Especially since he will be doing it without WRs this coming year.

We got more receivers available if the coaching staff chooses the right replacements . Hopefully he can get some work in with them this spring and summer. He played with a couple of them on jv a couple years back. Nearly the entire OLine returns. They need major gains in the weight room though
