1. As a Dad of one of the front 4 on Nederlands D-line Thanks, They are a hard working group that hates to lose. I have to give credit to Angletons O-Line they were big and physical. I think the game helped the Dogs a lot because the Cats are very fast and athletic which taught the Dogs what it will take to play at that level. I know that we lost #55 in the early second quarter which hurt us some but the other picked up the slack and gave their all. Nederland came home and has 2 weeks to heal up and get ready for the other Black and Gold team from 20-4a. As for who is Nederlands top players, there is 43 of them listed on roster. GO DOGS!!!!
2. Man its pretty bad when your opponents can't even take a compliment. Pretty pathetic if you ask me. If they only knew that people are laughing at em.  No one ever said we can't take a compliment. I think you are taking this way too serious.
3. This will be a game of who controls the line of scrimmage and ball protection. Two of the best defenses around. Then ball control offense against pro style. Hard hitting and coached by two great coaches. GOTTA LOVE IT !
4. I think you may be confusing gamesmanship for sportsmanship. Mathews is a smart coach who has been around enough to play head games. Believe me we appreciate all the praise but if you think that that is all it is you are not reading between the lines. I mean no disrespect at all. Coach Mathews is a great coach. Ne may need to pass a little more but we shall see.
5. Just saying seems like a little to much praise or maybe a motivation tool for his Pirates. Two good teams all around.
6. Nice article but do believe Coach Mathews is blowing sunshine at Nederland. Trying to get the DOGS a little more confidence so as not to focus on Vidor. Well it is not going to work as the DOGS are solely focused on going to The Bone-yard and leaving with a win that will be hard earned for sure. Vidor is definitely not the underdog in this one as they are 3-0 and Nederland is 2-1.
7. It was an interesting game that could have been better with less penalties and turnovers. Both team fought hard and the better team won. I think the game will help both teams down the road from the experience of playing against a team with size and speed. The offensive line for Angleton is large and good feet but got caught holding. Nederland got to see team speed to not one or two players but team speed. The DOGS will bounce back and like always prepare for the next challenge and be ready to play those knarly old Pirates.
8. Looks like elbow is sore but has full motion and strength is a little off. He will be ready to help eat them Pirates up.
9. Nederland wins on the leg of Tanner Noel . 17-14. Looks like everyone will be healthy or close to it. Good hard hitting game with lots of defense.
10. Vidor has just as many returning players and they are talented. Nederland does not underestimate Vidor at all. Vidor is on a roll and their defense is top notch. I think it will come down to execution and possibly the kicker, which I think Tanner gives us an edge. I mean he made a 36 yard in pouring and I mean pouring rain last night.
11. Brock has hyper  extended elbow should be ok. Hopkins has strain quad and Del Ferio has what appears to be a concussion. Looks like all should return  within days. Tough game with to many turnovers and penalties. Dogs got to clean that up to be able to beat the big boys.
12. The rumor mill has it that 4 PN-G players have quit the varsity football team including 2 starters tat include Logan Chipman and Peveto.  Have heard this from 3 different sources but can't independitely confirm. Logan was their top reciever for this year. He is suppose to focus on baseball. Hate to hear this and good luck to these young men.
13. Sounds like it could be a great game . I sure hope it is and the DOGS come out on top.
14. Tony Brown is the real deal and is one of the top players in ALL of SETX. He will have many schools to choose from to go play at. He also is a good student. If doubt any of this watch hoew few times his side in thrown  at.
15. AP poll. 4A AP Selections Rank School Overall Record Last Week's Rank 1. Tyler 1-0 3 2. Aledo 1-0 6 3. Pearland Dawson 0-0 4 4. Leander 1-0 7 5. Angleton 1-0 9 6. CC Calallen 1-0 10 7. Denton Guyer 0-1 1 8. Cedar Park 0-1 2 9. Kerrville Tivy 1-0 NR 10. Nederland 1-0 NR This was before Aledo aand Tyler lost this past Friday!!
16. Thanks for the well wishes. We plan on coming down and giving ya'll a game.
17. This will be a tougher test for Vidor but Vidor wins 28-17. Vidor d is for real and a controlling offense tough to beat.
18. No one expects Nederland to go to Angleton and win. Angleton is a solid team with speed and size and good coaching. This will be a game for Nederland to see where they stand and see what they need to adjust to be a top contender. These Dogs will go down and play their hearts out and play to win. If the Dogs  come out with a win it will be great and they will have some great momentum going into district play. I think Nederlands defense is really solid all around and will seriously tested and vice verse Angletons defense is solid and will be a great test for Dogs offense to learn against. So it is a win win for Nederland, if we win we are playing good football and if we lose it will be a learning experience to prep for a hard district . The difference could come down to kicking and Tanner has been strong so far. Going to go with my DOGS 17-14
19. Good Luck to both Teams and may GOD keep everyone safe and injury free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  GO DOGS
20. Tell me about the only home side that is in the sun. Hot hot hot!!!!
21. Nah Vidor loves Nederland they always have and always will. We tried to make them hate us last year by winning in the last minute but didn't work. Good luck to all teams tonight!!!!!!!
22. Pray for all participants to remain healthy and injury free. Amen Great post
23. Lumberton has to go to BH to play so it will be even tougher, but I think a close low scoring game. Lum 14-13
24. GCM always puts up a good fight. They lost some good players but got some transfers so might even out. They have been a run dominant team which means their offensive line must do a good job to handle the size of Nederlands defensive line. I watched film and the defense for GCM looks stout itself so looks to be a good challenge for both teams. I am still going to go with Ned 27-14. On a side note what is up with all the Dayton bloggers on a Nederland post. Yes ya'll one a scrimmage 31-14 hooray .  Ya'll must think that it was a real game lol. Dayton is a  really good team, but don't discredit THE DOGS because of the scrimmage.   Poor old smokinbaby will stir a pot just because his team can't make it past 1st round, if they even get lucky enough to make playoffs this year. Only time will tell good luck though.
