Nope...It is now called "Week 1"...Another change the UIL made amongst many this coming season.

This is not a knock on anyone else...I have never seen a NEWTON offseason...I have however seen a WOS offseason program and several others in the area and based on what I actually have seen...WOS is best!
I am willing to bet that you don't KNOW anything about the WOS athletic budget. Not like the Stangs are rolling in the dough.

Most of BH playoff runs were when they were 1A and 2A...
 
Highland Park has 55, but there should be an asterick in there since most of those were in 4A as a 5A SCHOOL!!!! :P

The young man could become a superstar QB, but he will have to refine his game quite a bit. Thats the big question with the scouts. Can he change his style enough to be successful???
I don't think any NFL front office is worried about his off field antics, because they really were extremly mild in comparison to many many others, but they were blown out because he was the first Freshman Heisman and the Media loves a darling!
 
I think he has the skillset and determination to be THE GUY at some point, but he is not THE GUY today and that makes him a gamble. He could be the next Russell Wilson, but even Wilson wasn't a first round QB. Tarkington and Flutie were later round picks as well and took a few years to create the NFL version of themselves.
 
I would have no problem with Houston selecting him, but not with the first pick in the draft. First pick has to be a no brainer future All-Pro...you don't get the chance that often to get the pick of the litter!

HS coaches need time as assistant coaches. They need to learn the recruiting business first. And make no mistake...it is a business that requires 24/7 attention.

Cropper spent most of the season injured.
 
PNG gotta get beefed up front to succeed on both sides of the ball. Several good prospects in that category, but prospects are just that...Prospects!

HF will be saying "The one who got away" in a couple of years.
Sure hate to see he, his wife (teacher at PNG) and family leaving the Reservation, but I wish them well and they will forever be part of the HONOR, PRIDE & TRADITION at PNG!!!
Thank You both for your time in Purple and leaving a lasting impression on my children as well as many, many others at PNG.

So new QB who enrolled early and no action!

If you have not played on varsity you do not need a signed waiver from previous coach for a transfer.

This was in response to a question about Mtchell who played on Ozen freshman team and transfered to Central. I responded to Mr.BG.

2014 brings very, very, very high expectations for the Stangs.  A lot of great talent on this team. WOS always has great talent, but I think this group probably has more per capita than any in recent memory.

Based on the talent at the underclass levels, I suspect you are correct. SC will struggle to catchup with the bigger boys in 6A the next couple of years.

Football road trips were not the biggest issue for Livingston. It was all the other sports that you play two district games in like Basketball (boys and girls), Baseball, Softball, Volleyball, etc.. that killed them. It meant that every week a few busses full of kids headed over to our area. Now they only have four of those trips, so they split it in half.
