Last night I attended the community advisory committee meeting concerning the merger of Ozen and Central into United High School.  Just some notes pertaining to athletics...

All varsity athletes (United & West Brook) will wear Adidas uniforms.  Adidas shoes will be provided as well for those that choose to wear them. 
Boys and girls will have separate weight rooms.
Old and New gym will be updated and renovated to be on par with other 6A schools.
Baseball and softball fields will undergo some renovations.
Football team will have one helmet, 3 jerseys and 3 pants.  Maroon jersey will be the home jersey, white jersey will be the road jersey and the gold jersey will be the alternate.
Turf replacement at the Thomas Center begins on April 23rd and depending on weather will be complete in 30-45 days.
 
 

Guess what?  By a vote of 6-1, my boys, his teammates and arch rivals will be playing on new turf come the end of August whether you like it or not.  And just for the record, I like it...

Might snag up some of those former Ozen kids who live in Cheek

If Todd Peterman applied for United, I'd have to imagine he applied at PA Memorial. I think he'd be a great fit there.

Bit of a "twang".

The past 6 districts I have supported financially are all well ahead of Nederland in recently built schools. And I did not say anything about the quality of the education that students get in Nederland. That is definitely not my place and I do know that the Standardized Test scores in Nederland are very high.
I am not a Nederland taxpayer, so you are right that my opinions mean absolutely zero.
However, it is a slap in the face of the students, teachers and the community as a whole to have facilities that are as outdated as the ones in Nederland, just an opinion from an outsider. 
Just because something is still functional doesn't mean it's not outdated. I think the great students and teachers in Nederland deserve a reward for their achievements. Having high quality facilities should be the goal of every district.

I support Katy ISD and any other district that put their staff and  kids’ interest (health/safety/technological/etc) first. 
I don’t think anyone is saying Nederland is a bad district. But could you imagine how much better with improved facilities for students and teachers?

Katy ISD is routinely named one of the top School Districts in the State, let alone the country
Meanwhile, I'm seeing footage on social media of a HS teacher at Nederland's class room under a deluge of water from Harvey. They won't change out the carpet because of the cost of the Asbestos Abatement. Seems like the football field isn't the only problem facilities wise over in those parts...

They would have a better record if they did squat jumps until they started peeing blood.

Wonder if we'll see similar candidates between this one and the Kirbyville list?

I moved my family out of Nederland and to the Houston area in 2012 in past due to the rundown facilities and the community’s inability to pass a bond. 

Where has the Lance Dale fan club gone ? Usually we hear from them when this job is open.

Some may say underwhelming, I say better than the last few publicized lists of applicants at recent schools 

0 and 2 without Bennett. Interesting
