Hiring head football coaches in May is not a great start toward a successful season

You don't see many separate ADs at the lower levels. Mostly in the 6A and 5A levels and mostly in districts with multiple schools. I can't think of any one school 5A districts or 4A and lower districts that separate the AD from the HC job. That doesn't mean there aren't any though.

Find me a football program that is successful when a head coach of a sport other than football is the AD. Excluding districts with a stand alone AD. I bet there are few to none.

I don't think Coach Johnston is worried about the loss in the 10th game as much as those larger schools are worried about a loss to a pretty small sized school. Particularly the Louisiana schools that you mentioned are subject to those calculated power rankings which the size of the school is taken into account. Even if they would blow Newton out, their rankings would be hurt.
On another note, as the LHSAA doesn't align in the same years as the UIL, putting a Louisiana school on the schedule is a dicey bet as that is only a 1 year solution.

If you want to hire a puppet to coach football so you can stay decent at thump-thump, be my guest. I'm sure WO-S, Liberty, Silsbee and HF will really appreciate it.

The HJ job is tough for anyone to take. It does not pay very well, LOW BUDGET, the district will not improve facilities(you can see that by not having baseball lights.. still the laughing stock of the state), Jr. high in cubicles(FEMA will not give them any money until they raise the old high school up like 2 ft.. which will not happen), the people in the district will not pass a bond(they feel the money from last bond was squandered, things that were supposed to be done were not), new AD will not be able to run a 4A athletic program correctly without interference from other head coaching sports (this will not change, look at Admin., any other school in the state of Texas if the head of other sports have any problems with the way the AD is running things... they would be gone.. that is not going to happen at HJ.
Until these things are fixed.. HJ will be nothing but a stepping stone and will get only coaches that will use it that way.

Why not have the head basketball coach be the head football coach?
Basketball first guys serving as the head football coach is insane and backwards

Everything that you mentioned, meetings, 7 on 7, summer conditioning either will take place or have already taken place. It will be no different than any other high school with the exception of no spring ball, practice starts on August 6th. Summer conditioning starts on June 11th...

Yeah, I guess you are right. With all the support he has from the community and all. Wasn't it PNG that had for sale signs out in his yard a couple years ago? I think you can look back and see thread after thread and post after post of PNG Fan criticizing and complaining about his schemes and lack of ability to put a defense on the field. Yeah, he has owes that town massive amounts of loyalty. How can you apply for a job making 30k more, with better facilties, and better athletes? How can you do that to a town that posted your house for sale after a loss to Nederland? You are right, perspective.

The Icon reacted to BMTSoulja1 in Possible QB for Silsbee next year
I also 'heard' that one of the candidates for 2018 QB job is working with a former local QB which was an all state player in HS and all conference in college, who just so happen to have Silsbee ties.
