  1. Red and blue would look good, but NOT powder blue! H-J does some nice color combos with those colors.
  2. Kelly has a nice small stadium. 800 on the visitors side. The field is in good shape. The only problem I see is they are land-locked and won't be able to expand. I know that they are happy to not be playing all over Beaumont and are able to have a place of their own. And about the announcers........ WOS95 - I was on the WOS side for a game last year and was amused by the WOS fans turning and screaming at their announcer to "SHUT UP!" I am glad that ya'll see what an idiot he is! The Kelly announcer made it feel like you were sitting in a large room at a Super Bowl party and one of the intoxicated guests felt obligated to comment on every play. I must admit he was not demeaning to BC but very even-handed with his stupid comments.
  3. Dayton - by 2-3 TD's. Lumberton is still a year away from serious competition. That being said, they have made tremendous strides from last year's terrible team.
  4. No offense, but if they are very good they are called Varsity players

  6. not that anyone is still bitter....... just trying to lighten things up a bit
  7. Bobcats by 10. QB Ramsey will be the difference for the 'Cats
  8. Mustangs in a donkey-stomp......... Another long season for the Bear faithful, I fear.

  10. I predict that BH will be quite unimpressive in the first few games. Then when district starts, they will begin to gel. They will then quietly and efficiently work their way to a District Championship. This team is not world-beaters but they will make it to the 2nd round of the playoffs before meeting their match. Come to think of it, most teams would love to have the above scenario play out for their team!
  11. The Houston Chronicle article is VERY misleading with it's quote "The latest numbers show coaches making an average of $73,804, compared to $42,400 for teachers." First it implies that all coaches make this kind of money. I wish! (being a coach!) Most of the salaries they compare are Athletic Director/Coaches or Head Coaches at very large schools. I have been coaching for over 25 years and I assure you, the only way I make $73,000 is to add my last two years together! Most coaching stipends ( the amount coaches make above their teaching salary), are between $2500-$5000 a year. Head Football coaches cannot make more money than the Principal of the school. If the media wants to expose what they see as unfair salaries, so be it. Just make fair comparisons. Always remember that statistics are like a woman in a bikini, what you see is real but what you don't see is vital.
  12. I copied this from the KFDM forum. Apparently Rita and Katrina were both complete surprises to the Almanac  "The Farmer's Almanac also last year forecast quiet weather in the New Orleans area at the time Katrina was pounding them. No storm was indicated for our area when Rita hit our area in September." I guess it's fun reading, but I rank it no better than the Groundhog. _________________ Greg Bostwick Chief Meteorologist KFDM-TV
  13. The Farmer's Almanac is the last source to worry about. May as well throw darts at a weather map and calendar
  14. Lights are now up at BC. Power was to be hooked up today. Pressbox is very large and nice, but will be cutting it close to be completely finished for the home opener. It will be operational for the Lumberton game. Elevator car is not in the shaft yet. LCM's press box is a mess right now, but a mess because they are completely redoing the inside. It will be ready for the first home game. Are you ready for some Football???!!!!
  15. How about, " these boys have been playing together since Pee-Wee football and they all made the all-star team" Coincidently, this usually comes from the guy who was the pee-wee coach!
  16. LCM might want to invest in more stands on the visitor's side  A video scoreboard and talk of field turf..............brings to mind that old Texas saying, "all hat and no cattle".
  17. Yep. The Driver's went to BC until 3 years ago. Good kids. WOS wins big after a close first half.
  18. I'm showing my age here..........1972, Port Arthur SFA vs. BC at Memorial stadium. SFA kicks to BC, Bo Worrell takes the ball to the right and SFA linebacker Broussard went through his earhole. I thought he was dead. Later found out that BC trainer, Mo Litton thought he was dead too! Bo was out for a few minutes and when he come to, asks Mo, "did I hurt him, coach?"
  19. I met Coach Rivers when BC played Central this year. I was impressed that he was the first "baseball guy" that I had met from Central in years. He is a class guy and I am sure he will do a good job there. I forget where he played college baseball. McNeese maybe???? Maybe Coop can find out for us. Good luck, Coach Rivers (except on those days he faces the Cardinals!)
  20. I had the privilege to see the catch live and in color! Best catch I have ever seen by a high school player. What many do not realize is that this catch probably saved the game for the New Braunfels Unicorns and sealed the State Championship. I am very glad to see ESPN pick this video up because it was truly remarkable!
  21. and of course we in Bridge City are known for our B-17 size skeeters!
  22. Shane Reyenga will do a great job at Lumberton. I had the privilege to spend a lot of time in the dugout during Shane's high school career and I will assure you that he has been a serious student of the game for many years. Several Lumberton posters have indicated that they are looking for good things to happen and I will take them at their word. The players will enjoy playing for Coach Reyenga and will learn a lot of baseball. That being said, I sincerely hope that the Lumberton community supports Shane by providing players who are baseball players and not pre-determined postion players! Allow the coach to do just that, coach! Coach Reyenga and his family may or may not have always thought every decision by his high school coaches were 100% correct. We will never know because Shane always was always too busy giving 100% effort for the team.
  23. At this level, I never predict or expect a "run-rule" series. Yoe has beat quality teams to get here. They are scary because they know how to win. Throw out the stats. For BC it is just like the past few weeks, get ready to play championship level baseball or prepare to go home. Go Big Red!!!
  24. I agree MIF and for more reasons than the fact they didnot see several team's #1 pitcher. The Cardinals do not steal many bases. As a rule they were not agressive on the bases because during district it would have been perceived as "sticking it in their eye" while 10-run ruling everyone. Pitchers had the luxury of pitching with large leads. Once again, that is not a knock on our district foes. It was , as a district, an off year with most teams fielding young squads. All that being said, the Cardinals will have to deal with that if they wish to be considered worthy of a State Championship. Barbers Hill definately put the Card's feet to the fire and made BC a better team. More fire coming in the form of the Columbus Cardinals! Good Luck, B.C. !!!
