  1. WOS's numbers continue to drop. No danger of them heading back up to 4A.
  2. Just messin with you! ;D Thanks for the report!!
  3. Meeks gave up 4 hits and struck out 8 in 5 innings. Pretty good outing.
  4. Not bashing you Silsbee 92. I agree with your concern of bashing umpires. And yes, I have umpired. But we must also remember that umpires, like players and coaches have bad games. Last night the home plate umpire had a bad game. I have no clue who he was, nor do I care to find out. I have seen him work before and I do not remember him being a "poor" umpire from previous games. In his defense, as one poster noted, the plate was camoflaged as red dirt. The fact was that the pitchers, batters, and coaches had little clue what would be called a strike or a ball. Both teams were affected. Players always have to adjust to the umpire's strike zone. Baseball people know this but there was no consistent strike zone. Pitchers were "aiming" their pitches. Batters had poor at bats. One thing for sure.....it did not favor either team.
  5. Hats off to the Bobcats as they came about as close to the upset as possible. Top notch freshmen on both teams tell us that the next three years will be fun. My Cardinals have to feel extremely fortunate to get out of this one with a W. Anyone have the stats? BC had to walk 12 to 13 guys with 2 hit batsmen. Way too many free passes. Good luck Bobcats! If you are going to play that well, playoffs are an attainable goal. Hope to see you Cardinals Friday night at home.
  6. Who cares which of the two are the best. Any coach would love to start a football, basketball, baseball, or track team with those two.
  7. How has a JV baseball thread lasted this long. Have we run out of things to discuss??
  8. If that was HJ's JV, where was the varsity? Post a score if you have it.
  9. Those that remember :.........Les Johnson didn't make the first cut for interviews but when a couple of guys bailed, they added Les to the list. Troy would be infinitely better than Les. The three finalists are all fine men and coaches and would do a good job for BCISD.
  10. THE LIST...........has been hermetically sealed in a mayonaise jar on Funk & Wagnalls porch since noon Thursday........(you old timers understand!) ;D her·met·ic (hr-mtk) also her·met·i·cal (--kl) adj. 1. Completely sealed, especially against the escape or entry of air. 2. Impervious to outside interference or influence: the hermetic confines of an isolated life. 3. often Hermetic a. Mythology Of or relating to Hermes Trismegistus or the works ascribed to him. b. Having to do with the occult sciences, especially alchemy; magical.
  11. West Orange High School - Andre Robertson - Started for the Yankees a couple of years until an auto accident cut his career short
  12. Glad to see that you are still kicking, "Dirt"! Good luck with your coaching!
  13. Yep, B.C.'s new pressbox has a restroom, video deck up top, and an elevator. But Silsbee still has that fried chicken!!
  14. Let me simply say that he could knock the cover off of a baseball. I was fortunate to see him play several times at the Dome and he hit a line drive home run that got out of the park faster than any other I saw in my 35 years of watching Astrodome baseball. I'm not sure where it finally hit. It went over everyone in the mezzanine and into that area to the left of the original scoreboard.
  15. :oThat wasn't the Yanks........that was Atlanta in the Divisional Series. Sent the Astros on to play St. Louis in the NLCS
  16. I support the random testing of extracurricular participants and those who drive to school. After seeing it in place for several years I see it doing far more good than any perceived harm. If nothing else, it gives students an "out" when offered or encouraged to do drugs. I have had students tell me that they have told those "encouragers" that they can't take a chance with the risk of random testing. If one student is protected by the testing, it is well worth any money, time, and inconvenience.
  17. For a better bracket placement, maybe you can talk the Mustangs into going for 3rd place next year!!!
  18. I'm with you, WOS95. I have never known Coach Foreman to be anywhere except on the defensive side of coaching. No doubt he helped with offense but the list of OCs you had seems to be complete. One observation I had at Friday's game was that the officiating crew was very effecient at getting the ball set for play very quickly, thus the 25 sec. clock seemed to be getting low on time more quickly. I have noticed the officials in our area seem to see that everyone is ready before starting the 25 second clock. Might be one reason our games seem to run past 10pm every Friday. The WOS coaches do a good job year in and out. I am sure that with hindsight they would change a few calls as well, but that is true for the losing team every game. Great season WOS.
  19. Cat22 took my picks..........................
