  1. H-J should beat Orangefield, but unless they win next week at H-F they would have to catch the rest of the district schedule on a really bad night. No disrespect intended toward the Hawks.
  2. Bridge City has one returning starter from last year's team. Very young and inexperienced. They did show signs of progress in the 2nd half last night. Definately a learning year with youth and a new coach/offense.
  3. If the Jags don't strike fast and early they could allow the Bears an opportunity to wear them down. I have seen both of these teams play. For the Bears they need to keep it close for 3 quarters (ala WOS game). The Bears are big and physical but lack the Central speed. The key stat will be TURNOVERS! Should be a great spectator game!
  4. Dan Ray has checked out the lower grades so I am sure he is going to hang around for several more years! ;D When he does step down, it will be a traumatic experience for the Mustang faithful as well as a sad day for the sportswriters of our area. P.S. - The zebras might have a little party, though!!!!!
  5. The spread is the offense of the day. More and more teams will adopt the spread as coaches learn to coach it. Somewhere down the road defenses and coaches will adapt and the spread will go the way of the Wishbone, the veer, the wing-T as the offense du jour. It will never completely go away as some coaches will always have the proper personnel to run it well. How many of you other old timers remember the berating Tom Landry took in the press for re-introducing the ages-old "shotgun" formation for Roger Staubach? It all goes full circle! 8)
  6. The Hill by 3 touchdowns. The Bulldogs will get better as the year progresses, but too early for them now.
  7. A little geography lesson..........the Sabine River happens to run just north of Marshall as it's headwaters are in Deep East Texas. There might be something in that water!
  8. If the Bears want to be in this game, they must keep it close for 3 quarters. If they allow the 'Stangs to get up quick, it will be a looonnnngggg game for the Bojo boys. Speed - advantage WOS Size - advantage LCM. Size won't help much in the second half if you are down by 21. :-\
  9. welcome to B.I.S.D. They can give Barnum & Bailey a run for their money!
  10. When coaches vote in preseason polls they often vote to take the bullseye from their team OR to place the bullseye on a perceived challenger. Pretty much mind-games at this point of the season. Sure makes it fun for the rest of us! ;D Good to see my pal SFA hanging around! 8)
  11. I don't particularly like LC-M, but I do think they will be a factor in this years district race. I am not saying they will be a playoff team, but they will have something to say about who will be there. I think 4th or 5th would be more accurate.
  12. We will soon see how much "influence" Coach A has on his players. The Wildcats have earned the right to wear a bullseye this year with an excellent 2006 season and most of the players coming back. Now K'villeballa wants to continue to supply cannon fodder for all of 21-AAA's bulletin boards! Ah.....this is going to be a fun season!! ;D
  13. Wide receivers that jump offsides. > Watch the Football!!!!
  14. Beautiful stadium! Looks to be a prime playoff venue to me!!! ;D
  15. Ah Matt.......you are in my top three! Plus you are the best actor in the whole bunch!!! ;D Also tops in self-depricating humor!!!!(let'em look that up!) Have a great summer! From your regional pals.....
  16. For all you folks who remember Coach Young's "respect" for the baseball gods.....you have to read this! [Hidden Content]
  17. Goodness, I will need a full year to get ready for another BC/Jasper regional final!!! The players left it all on the field and us fans felt as if we had played a noon double-header that went into extra innings! As disappointing as it was for us Cardinals, it was ultimately fun! Hope we have help hone the Bulldogs into a state champion!
  18. You find me one and I will wear it.......for at least a couple of innings!!!! ;D
  19. J-Dog - glad you made the trip home safely. Nice talking to you during the series. I will be pulling for the Bulldogs in Round Rock, but I will be proudly wearing my BC cap! Great season Cardinals!!! Good luck Bulldogs!! 8)
  20. Congratulations Bulldogs and Cardinals on a great series! Good luck to the Bulldogs in Round Rock. You will represent our District and Region well! 8) Coach Bryant made the correct call to hold Robertson at third with Dishon coming to the plate. Joe simply slipped on the turf when making his turn and could not recover. Not his fault. The freshmen (Hicks and Robertson) were outstanding today and throughout the season. We are proud of the Cardinals! Thanks for the ride, guys!!
