  1. The real trick is how we move the fences back for the top of every inning....... home field advantage!
  2. Great job, Cardinals! Barbers Hill will be a force the next 2 years with that young team regardless of what classification they play in. Good luck in 4A! Great pitching job by Jeff Stringer! Super Soph, Casey goes yard twice! Cody and Johnny with blasts of their own!
  3. Coach Young the assistant coach........on paper maybe! Good luck Coach! Keep those Stingarees on a roll!!!
  4. Angelle struck out 18 Eagles tonight! Even had 4 K's in one inning!!
  5. guess Ricky and Sharon will be buying that $3 a gallon gas  to get them to Carthage on a regular basis! Congratulations, Derrick!!!
  6. A good 4-A team played a good 3-A team. LC-M was the better team tonight. Some stats......LCM pitchers 17 K's BC pitchers 12 K's. LCM offense 4 hits BC offense 4 hits. The most telling stat - LCM received 7 bases on balls, one catcher interference, one hit batsman. 9 free passes are poison no matter what league you are in. Womack pitched a great game as did Ehlert. Angelle is better than he showed tonight and will do very well in the playoffs. Both of these teams have the potential to go deep. Good luck to the Bears and the Cardinals!
  7. ....... too bad some folks are consumed by their emotions and can't carry on a reasonable discussion. Oh well, I guess the '27 Yankees were overrated as well
  8. Best I ever saw in person was some guy named Vincent Young from Houston Madison. They played Katy High 4 years ago in the Dome and they produced together nearly 1000 yards of offense. Final score was something like 51-48. Great game!
  9. You left out one of the essential qualities to get to state...........LUCK!!!! Hopefully they have that at the right time!
  10. Philllip Meeks pitched a good game. Casey Jackson hit another bomb! A.J. Hecker did a good job at 3rd and at the plate. The Cardinals were short 3 starters who were running at the 24-AAA District track meet in Anahuac (Dishon, Sparks, and Bolton). The those filling in played well. A long week before we play again. Anahuac at home next Friday.
  11. 3Amagic -As to BC playing Anahuac on Monday, check out your facts. BC wanted to play Thursday, Anahuac had several kids at an "Ag" event at some college. They could have been forced to forfeit had BC chosen not to reschedule till Monday. Now the logic.....do you think BC would have pitched Angelle against Anahuac knowing they were playing H-F Friday night??? BC has multiple pitchers that would be available and capable of pitching against Anahuac. Had the rained-out game been against another team, you might have a gripe but Anahuac??? Come on. Don't make H-F look petty. I know that when BC goes to "The Box", we will be in for a tough game from a good team. We will probably see your top pitcher as well. Good luck until then.
  12. I have seen H-J three times this year. I am not sure which players "The Truth" is talking about, but they must have missed those games. I do agree that H-J is playing below their potential but given some of the disruptions in the program it can be expected. Also, true scouts don't use phrases like, "typical high school coaches" when criticizing. True scouts don't rely on high school coaches to do their job! No doubt "The Truth" is a "typical disgruntled parent"!
  13. Not trying to start something, but where are you getting 300 miles??? Combined round trips to WOS and BC from H-F is around 190 miles, 200 at the most. Wait until we start traveling in the new 21-AAA district next year!
  14. that is 1,100 not 11,000. I'm sure there is no AAAA school that small. Deweyville will have a nice place up there, though.
  15. Bridge City will have a new scoreboard up on Tuesday. We will also get 25 second clocks in each endzone. Pressbox plans have been finalized and it is to be completed by the end of August. The pressbox on the visitor's side will not be rebuilt. The home pressbox will be larger than the old one and of course, thanks to ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), there will be an elevator. Lights are scheduled to be finished at the end of July. Here's hoping to keep away 2006 hurricanes! :?
  16. MIF04 - I like your tournament idea. The girls successfully have tournaments shared by more than one school. I hope we can shop this idea with area coaches. :!:
  17. BC - 12 Kelly - 2 in the 5PM game. Angelle with 12 or 13 strike outs in 6 innings.
  18. Congratulations, Mustangs!! Definately a great ride this year. I honestly thought this team would go a couple of rounds but they fooled me and many others. Tremendous accomplishment!
  19. Back in the 80's.....Scott Gooch of Bridge City hit a towering shot over the lights and railroad tracks in dead center of Mustang Park @WOS. It just disappeared into the darkness. Coach Ronnie Anderson told us that it was the hardest hit ball he had ever seen at Mustang Park. Scott went on and played football for University of Texas and last I heard was a stock broker. Andre Robertson definately hit some tape-measure jobs there as well!
  20. Wow! I didn't see this coming. Congratulations to the Mustangs! Coach McCarter has done a great job with some good athletes!
  21. Bridge City has a new and deeper fence, new scoreboard, new visitors dugout, and a new press-box. They will use the lights for the season before they are removed and reset on new foundations. The field is not pretty but it is good for games. Makeover by Rita......
  22. Although he played for West Orange High and not WOS, Andre Robertson started at shortstop for the New York Yankees for a couple of years. Was in the dugout when Reggie hit 3 dingers in one World Series game. Andre was a great player whose career was cut short by a broken neck in a car accident.
