Score was 14-0 WOS. We score, kick off, and then get a stop.... Then WOS punts, ball is spotted, WOS defense comes out, HJ offense comes out, HJ with the momentum at that time, breaks the offensive huddle, ref closest to the WOS sideline then comes running in saying we touched the ball...... That didn't loose us the game, but it took the momentum away at halftime.... That was big.... We gotta be good enough to overcome.... Gut check right there....

Sounds like ahuge bad call, but I have seen or heard some different views of the same play. I have had accounts that it was close to an HJ player if not touched and others saying no one was close. How can an official not know who is punting?? That is one part that really gets me.

This one is going just like I expected hj better get one of those long scoring drives right here or it may be over before it even starts!

Honestly...... I have no clue..... I hope HJ brings down the thunder..... From what I understand, we have made some defensive changes for this week, but I don't know if it will be enough... I was hoping we would put a couple more guys on the d-line and try to pressure ol Jack into mistakes... I hope that's the road we take but I'm not the coach.... This is why..... Defensively, I would not be satisfied with only bringing 11.... I would try to figure out a way to bring 12 lol.... I feel like HJ, at times, has dominated each opponent. Seems like we step up to our competition. If we come in with the heart and determination we had against Silsbee last year, WOS is in for a long night... If we come out like we did against HF, will be a long night for the Hawks and a long year for me.... I say, good luck to both teams, hopefully an injury free game, and no excuses on Saturday..... It looks like we are more productive with the QB rotation but I am not sure if thats the reason. I think a big part of that is the quality of our opponent has dropped the last couple weeks. Our running game has definately improved with the dual threat of Brooks and Thomas. I have never been a big fan of having a qb rotation and in our case I think when we put Partain in the defense knows that we are planning to pass and even if we throw a run in there it's not going to be a planned run by the qb. I love Partain being able to throw the ball but I just believe for at least this year we need to have the dual threat from the qb. I would love to have seen the Tigers go with a two back set with Thomas and Brooks at Rb and Partain at qb. Push the running game and open up the field for Partain. I know it wasn't going to happen but I just wonder how it would have worked.

IMO, how strong your district schedule is should determine how strong you schedule your non-district schedule. Examples like Navasota and La Marque who are in extremely weak districts should schedule a tough non-district. Teams like Carthage and Kilgore may look to play an easier non district because of how tough their district is.
 
In the case of HJ and WO-S, because they only play 4 district games, they had to schedule 6 non district games. IMO, the perfect way to have scheduled those 6 games would be to have 2 very tough games, 2 good games, 2 easy games. But, when you have to schedule that many non district games, the pickings get slim.

So the ones that are only in school to play sports, shouldn't have to worry about classes. Heck if that's the case why even make them attend just let them show up at practice after roaming the streets all day!

I have seen both Huffman and WOS, Huffman has a good offense with Harrell as a great weapon. WOS however has the secondary that could control him and slow the falcon offense down. WOS defense is better than Huffmans, no doubt in my mind. The Mustang offense and Falcon offense against us pretty much had the same type of games. The only thing I question right now is whether the Mustang offense is in a slump after these last two games or was it just the quality of the opponents. If the two teams I saw played WOS takes it by double digits. If that offense has lost its mojo then it could be an interesting game.

I haven't seen that, I have seen comments like the ones you make here, these are not belittling. Maybe I would consider it belittling if you said "HJ is no good, slow and not talented" but I haven't really seen anyone put it in a belittling way. It just irritates me how some try to make it seem that way.

I am thinking that the Tigers may need to make the switch at qb for the duration of the season. I think the only way this offense is going to get going is to have a qb that is a running threat. The defense has to respect his rushing ability meaning less pressure on both him and the rb.

We couldn't cover their receivers. And when we dropped extra guys back for coverage, the qb would pick a hole and take what yards he could get. As far as our offense, we can't give Partain enough protection so he can't be accurate. He is the better passer between him and Thomas but i think the passing game is going to be a little better if we start letting Thomas run the show. This as a result of his running threat. I don't think teams will be able to send as much pressure giving him more time to throw the ball.

The defense did a good job. Brooks had a good night rushing he had a few good runs in there to get those numbers. Both of Our qb's are young, you have to expect some mistakes. We had several plays tonight that were quite possibly long td receptions that were just off the mark either too long or too short. We completed one of them on our first series but the reciever had to wait on the ball and lost the 5 yards or so he had on the nearest defender.

We Tiger fans knew this year would be slow starting but hoped we would get rolling by now. Throughout these first five games, I have noticed some fundamentals that the Tigers have had problems with through the years, especially tackling and blocking on the offensive line. I have always believed in good hard practice leading to good play. I have heard several times the last year or two that our practices lack hitting. To me if that is truly the case it plays a huge part in some of these problems. We have these mistakes by our young QBs and some of them if not most of them have been caused by poor protection leading to quick and poor decisions. We have also had problems, and I can remember this as far back as the JJ years with sometimes several snaps a game over the qbs head. I know we had one tonight that I thought was going to end in a safety and several the QB had to jump to catch. These are things that we should be able to limit. Hopefully we get there soon.

As far as your question concerning Spearman, he hasn't produced like he did last year. He seems to want to dance more than run. The other two backs have been producing better by hitting the hole and running, where he has been going more side to side. Thomas would definately help the running game but is a starter on defense. We have many key players playing a lot on both sides of the ball. The fewer going both ways the better if possible. Haven't gone back and looked at the numbers but in the three losses we have had to throw the ball ,ore because of playing catch up. And for passing, Partain is the man. Yes he had a tough week last week and in week two but in both of those games he seldom had much time in the pocket. I have my problems with the play calling from time to time as well and we definately need to run the ball better than we have in all three of the losses. That may indeed result in seeing more snaps for Thomas, especially once district begins.

This is definitely one fight in which I will root for HJ!! As long as a group or flu is not mandatory, there should be no problem. As far as an employee talking to the group, shouldn't any group of kids have a sponsor or supervision.

Everything you say is true. But with the coach we have now, I like our chances a lot better than in years past.

I don't see how someone mentioning reports cards coming out is childish. They didn't make a reference to anyone or either team. But when those grades come out it only takes a slip up on grades by one or two key players to make a change in the team dynamic and if it were to happen before this game it could change the game one way or another.

I'm with you. Some of them make it hard to root for the Hawks. I think it will be close but I hope bedelmon shows up if they get beatdown like they did last year. (Or like most every time they've ever played.)
