1.
The "SPIN" is TT trying to make something negative about LU.  He does that every chance he gets.  I can't understand his motivation to constantly make negative comments.  Does anyone know if he had a prior unpleasant experience with Lamar that fuels his hatered?
Good journalism would mean that "young Christopher" would have explained why there were two different paths - one by Lamar, one by USA. This one pretty much just gives USA some bulletin board material. There's a reason for everything and by not explaining it, just confuses the ill-informed populace who does not read SETX or BRI.
That is the direction South Alabama wanted to go. They could have been a "counter" if they wanted to go in that direction (See Lamar). They have only played one other FCS team (Nicholls State) and won 39-21 in Mobile. This is their first true road game so I don't see this article being at the top of the list for motivating their players.
Again - explain why USA is doing one thing and why Lamar is doing another... Each start-up program is different. Beaumont Enterprise comes off as if they are "slamming" South Alabama for their approach. Let's remind ourselves of the end result of each respective startup...
 2.
Sad you would bring a kids name in to this that has nothing to do with it.  Hide and watch ;)
This is all very entertaining to say the least bit. This really has the sounds of a typical overhyped Lamar scheme to tout a whole bunch of nothing... is HoopScoop or whatever that web site is/was involved?
 3. SPIN... SPIN... SPIN... I guess young Christopher is not aware of what South Alabama is doing compared to Lamar. It is much easier to schedule when you are a counter (see Lamar) compared to not being one (see South Alabama), especially when teams need at least seven Div I wins to qualify for the playoffs... Their clock truly begins next year - year three. See their schedule then? I'm not saying Lamar's schedule is worse than South Alabama's, because it isn't - but that was just a bogus and ill-informed article that makes for good locker room material.
 4. If it is a current, recent QB who could still potentially play... former West Hardin star Tyler Copeland? Unless you were taking Brian Bell or Tyrik Rollison, do not think anything else would resonate with the Bearkat faithful. Sounds like typical Lamar over-hype job here.
 5.
It is not dustin long but it is similar to the dustin long situation you guys fell in to! ;)
Blake Joseph is definitely a 'keeper' if it is him... I think he'll make a great coach!
 6.
P.S.  Wait til you hear who is gonna be on the sideline saturday night terror.  You are not gonna like it......trust me!!!
Another highly touted recruit with question marks on his resume? Can't take too many question marks, Ray! This is the SLC, not the SWAC! Or is Dustin Long joining Lamar as an assistant? Don't think the Bearkats would mind that. Good for him!
 7.
And what does that have to do with out recruiting a first year program?
All that really matters is Woodard has a lot to work to do... especially if he's going to impress UNLV, AggiesAreWe, etc. Arena League football doesn't work at this level... as it may have at the JUCO level. Andre Bevil can throw down field all he wants, but he's going to get picked off and of course, does not help a Lamar team that takes the entire game to establish the run...
 8.
Terror...............your not really on here bragging about how Fritz out recruited a first year program are you?  Very weak!!!!
Do you realize what your offensive coordinator left us with? The cupboards were bare and we have the youngest team we've ever had at the FCS level...
 9.
Doesn't take much to know why TexasTerror post here and not bigredinsider.com. He like to use his knowledge of athletics, namely FCS football and then spin it so he is always talking negatively about Lamar and has to somehow mention Sam Houston.
I don't appear because simply - the log-in process on BRI is excruciating and I've had problems getting logged in. I click over here and it's a done deal!
I've got it for a very reliable source this Lamar men's basketball team is going to surprise a lot of people.
Another top-ranked recruiting class?
Coach Tidwell and the lady Cardinals are going to be as good or better than last season and the Nebraska transfer is now eligible, one of recuits average 37 ppg in high school, Myriam Igoufe of La Ville Aux Danes, France is now healthy, then add Plumley, Loyd and the other pieces of the team. They are loaded.
Tidwell is no joke. He's legit. What else is new? A shame this conference does not have good WBB. Would love to see what Lamar could do in a better WBB league, since I think they could knock some heads...
Then next Feb. the recruiting season well be very important for the Lamar football team as we will add a few missing pieces to the football team as in Derrick Hall. Add him and one or two lineman and the others get stronger in the off season in the new training facility the team will not be one dimensional on offense. See in the past we had to show recruits photos of what our athletic facility will look like. Now, they will experience it and the crowds that show up at Provost Umphrey stadium first hand. It will only help Coach Woodard and recruiting to have the best facilities in the SLC.
Woodard should've had plenty to pitch the last two years... it's my opinion that Fritz in a few weeks out-recruited him, based on the current assessment of our freshmen compared to yours. We'll see over the next 2-3 years who emerges as the better team...

 11.
not saying they are a powerhouse this year...BUT...didnt mcneese just come within 55 seconds of knocking off SFA?  SLU yada yada yada..we won, they lost...
McNeese has had success against SFA for the last few years, because their secondary has been very strong against Moses. That kept them in the game and it was no surprise to anyone...
Moronic post, wish you had a team to root for....
I do... the same one that handed Lamar their first lost on Provost Umphrey Stadium's turf... Don't worry, basketball season is around the corner. Tubbs may have saved Roc's job by moving the Cards to the SLC East permanently. Though losing to schools with half the basketball budget of yours probably does not bold well...
 12. Saw this post on the USA board...
Y'all act like this game is going to be easy as the poster above stated who have y'all played? We hanged with FCS powerhouse mcneese in our first game (lost I think 30 to 27) a very impressive feat Beat webber international in our first home game (not a great team) Beat southeastern louisiana on the road 29 to 28 who just beat future WAC conference member texas state by 25 plus Got stomped by SFA no excuses we played awful although they are an exceptional team Got beat bad by sam houston state no excuses again And beat langston by no means a great team but one of the best NIAI teams And are about to hand Southern Alabama their first loss LU 28 - USA 21 Btw stadium will be (if not already) soldout looking forward to a great game and fans making the trip enjoy it you will be razzed but not harrassed we are for the most part nice people and drive safely
FCS powerhouse McNeese? Been paying much attention this year? This is a rebuilding year for the Pokes! Let's also not forget that it was your first game and emotions were running high... Then, you talk about beating SLU - "who just beat future WAC conference member Texas State by 25 plus". Let's call that the SLU team you were facing was not the same team personnel-wise that TXST just played. It'd be like playing a Lamar team sans Bevil.
 13. FYI - came across these... Lamar Baseball Schedule Feb. 18-20 Mississippi State Tournament (Akron, Mississippi State, Lamar) Mar 3-5 Lamar Tournament (San Fransisco, New Mexico State, Cal St-Northridge)
 14.
I don't care if they never played anyone any good before. It would still be pretty cool to say you are the first ever to beat them. No matter what way you look at it.
Good point... I just realized this, but SHSU was the first team to beat Lamar at Provost Umphrey Stadium. Pretty neat!  :)
 15. Next year is their first year... even though they have about 13 games in their back pocket heading into their game against Lamar... Last year and this, they were unclassified. You guys are FCS Independent this year, South Alabama is NCAA unclassified. The win or loss counts in your W/L column, but it is kind of an odd situation of how they have handled this process...
 16. Looking at the box score, would think Langston won this one... More trips to the red zone, had the ball for nine minutes more, less penalties... If Langston scores in the red zone or "red area" as Whitten calls it, the Cardinals lose to Langston. Call this a good game all you want, but you guys can't do that against South Alabama and some of the other schools on the schedule. They'll find a way into the end zone and at the Div I level - probably make their FGs.
 17. SHSU 26-7 over Nicholls... 12 sacks, block punt (returned for TD)... couldn't of asked for more!
 18. CAA Commish in defense of FCS... [Hidden Content]
 19.
So this is really your article.  Silly me. I should have known! 8)
Nope... I just added some insight into a few of the schools mentioned and added a school (or two) that he initially left out. Matt is a realignment guy, he knows all that stuff that I don't.
 20. Worth mentioning that Lamar, UTSA are mentioned in the story... forgot to say that. Sorry folks!
So tell me Terror, is ODU playing football in a FBS conference?  I bet if they are not now, they will be talking about and making the move very soon.  Maybe we should sick Puddin on them to damper their spirit!
You may note who they hired as their AD recently... a gentleman who knows a thing or two about rising a proud athletic department with basketball success (saw ODU win their first round game this year) to the next level in football. That may tell you something... And no football school can play FBS in year two. Duh! ;)
 21.
[Hidden Content] UNLV you are a profit ;)
None of those schools are really new to the SLC, if they weren't also in the mix for the OVC (the GSC schools) as well... Talked to Matt prior to writing this and he asked me for my feedback, which I provided. I agree with BR360 and our AD at Sam does too. We are not going to be with a Div I Lonestar Conference. Though I am wondering if the SLC people in place would be willing to bring in a private school whether it HBU or ORU.
 22. Interesting... Lamar's early success could put it on the map in due time as well... keep it up Cards!
The Old Dominion University athletic department is buzzing, talking about its second-year football program in pinch-me-please terms. Tickets are selling on Craigslist for $200, eight times face value. A moratorium was placed on students camping out for ducats simply because crowds became too large. Fans watch from a parking garage because they can’t get into 19,782-seat Foreman Field.
[Hidden Content]
 23.
Every skill player Sam Houston had was better than our skill players except for one and that's Hayes, but the qb and Rb is better and the rest of the wrs. Also our def line and o line are to little and can't Handle teams that are big and physical up front, Lamar will be fine once they get some big o line recruits and def line recruits.
And our skill players are younger, if not the same in classification as Lamar's skill players. The future is bright for SHSU!
 24.
the coaching staff hasnt impressed me........please prove me wrong, Ray
Wonder if what I've said about Woodard will come true, that hiring him set your program back a few years... really hard to tell. We'll know more next year.
 25.
I don't think these two blowouts mean much since both the coaching staff and the team have so little D1 experience.  We'll see what I kind of players Woodard can recruit after this season is over.
What about Todd Whitten? Thought he had some Division I experience...
