1.
Aren't we allowed to gave 12 games? Why we missing one?
FCS are only allowed 12 if they schedule Hawaii or in the years that allow it. You can check out KatFans.com for a list of the years where the extra week allows it.
 2. Free? That's wild - not sure any other department does that. Glad to see the Cards catch up though and begin streaming games.
 3.
They don't have more current data because you have to have the four to five years for athletes to graduate. Then a year or two to gather all the data.
Six years, I thought...
 4. SHSU and LU had same hoops numbers - just flipped (men/women)! [Hidden Content]
 5. If you want specifics... Lamar hoops ranks last amongst all sports at Lamar with women at the bottom, preceded by the men. [Hidden Content]
 6. Daniels went #81 to Idaho... Almond #42 to Fort Wayne. [Hidden Content]
 7. As I've told you before - by the method they are using in-conjunction with NCAA rules/regulations, South Alabama's "first year" is officially next year... want to compare next year's slate to this year's? Not sure about you guys - but playing two FBS teams (Mississippi State, NC State) plus a FBS-bound UTSA program, does not sound like a cupcake schedule... Okay, back to your regularly scheduled South Alabama smack!
 8.
Bull. The Sunbelt might lose UALR and ULM in the next 18 months. The Sunbelt will not stay 11 or 9. They just won't admit to looking for new members.
UALR is not leaving unless they are forced to. They prefer playing Ark State and the other Sun Belt schools over being in the Summit League. If they get in Missouri Valley, wouldn't be that bad... And why do you think ULM is going somewhere? The financial issues? I have a hard time believing they may drop.
 9. Speaking of UNLV's thoughts on SBC expansion...
Waters said that if Denver does indeed leave, the league will put no pressure on itself to immediately add a member. If Denver does in fact leave, the league will feature 11 teams rather than 12 for men’s and women’s basketball. “I think you’ll hear a lot of speculation about what we should do, but the reality is that 11 is a number that works,” he said. “The Big Ten was 11 for a long time, the ACC was nine for a long time. We’ll go very slow and because of the things we did in 2000, 2004 and that time period – we will be able to go slow and look for somebody who does bring incredible value to the league.”
[Hidden Content]
 10. Word must travel slow to Las Vegas... you dealing at the craps table UNLV? Lots of changes coming in the 'west'. The WAC news actually came after the big news regarding the Summit League, Big Sky and Great West... you excited about the changes for Southern Utah, UND and USD?
 11. SLC POTY automatically gets honorable mention, correct? If you want an All-American, that's how.
 12. For the first-time ever, CollegeInsider is doing a basketball mid-major poll. Any opportunity to further 'promote' women's hoops is a great thing! 13.
No, the Eastern Division has some quality team as TexasTerror spoke of VB, while UCA has won 30+ SLC matches. Plus, they beat Lamar last season in WBB so they will be good this season as they have all-everything in Megan Herbert .
Yep - but the SLC East is very weak at the bottom in VB. I actually know a bit more about VB - absolutely love the sport. UCA and Lamar... then what? Hoops - same situation.
 14.
Believe me UCA, NW State. SE Louisiana, Nicholls State and McNeese will not just roll over for the Cardinals as they will have to earn their victories just like they would if playing in the Western Division.
No one is expecting anyone to roll over... but truth remains, the West is the stronger division in every sport in which divisional play exists (see VB, MBB and WBB) and it's tougher to get wins going home-and-home with the west teams than it is with the eastern teams. This year, I'd put Nicholls in the top four prior to the season. The remaining three all hail from the West.
 15.
ND Lost to Cal Poly 22-21.. LU might have a chance on winning
Do you even know anything about Cal Poly? Or heard of them prior to this post? ??? Would check their resume, that's no easy win.
 16.
We have $3.5 million slated for renovation of Vincent-Beck in 2011, $750,000 in 2012 and $500,000 in 2013 so believe me once the Beck is finished it look as nice as the TXST and SHSU complexes.
Will the schedules? Have you guys always been irritated by the schedules? Even when TXST, SHSU stadiums lagged behind Vincent-Beck?
 17.
basketball season is about to start so I changed it to basketball lol, its not about the upgrades its about your a southland team, so you need to go and travel and play at baylor, rice, texas, A&M, Lsu, texas tech and etc.
Only difference is that if you are TXST or SHSU - with nice new complexes - those schools also come to you every year or other year.
 18. Awkward... You have no OOC games in between your last four SLC series. Can understand the last series, but this is confusing - just SLC games from NWST through SFA... Sat. 19.
I think this is ND first year in FCS...moving up from Div II, 2001 National champs, a bunch of conference championships...they definately are used to winning..that said:
2nd or 3rd year...pending how you look at it... They were a counter in 2009 when they got beat by Texas Tech (38-13), so that was their second year of offering the proper amount of scholarships. In 2008, they were in their transitional year for all intensive purposes. Played mostly FCS that year, but they did not count as a Div I (so they did not play full Great West schedule). In 2009, they played a true FCS slate - so probably deserving of year two status in 2010.
 20. For comparison's sakes... SHSU home schedule includes - Nebraska, No Colorado, UT-Pan American, Rice, Houston, Michigan, UMass, A&M, Baylor TXST home schedule includes - Nebraska, Missouri State, Akron (3), Rice, Baylor, Houston (3), Missouri, HBU, Prairie View A&M
 21. My prediction... North Dakota 34-21 Lamar Guess we'll see how they do against Cal Poly first...
 22.
I'm just talking "if's" here but if Todd Dodge were to join the Lamar staff there would be 3 former UT Longhorns on the staff. 1. Coach Woodard. 2. Coach Brown. 3. Todd Dodge. Plus he could give Lamar a boost in recruiting the Metroplex.
Well, if he gave Lamar the same boost that he gave NT when it came to recruiting in the DFW Metroplex... some of the financially-strapped SLC institutions have a lot to be excited about! You really think he'd give any school a boost in the Metroplex? I guess his offense may be a bit exciting and have some reputation, but isn't that what Whitten brings to the table as well?
 23. As I said on KatFans...
I was not shocked about his hire... he was a 'big name' in Texas HS circles... His biggest problem was bringing along 3-4 assistants from Carroll, bringing in a D3 assistant and then a guy out of coaching for over a decade to fill his staff. You had a bunch of FBS rookies! He'd of been better off hiring a qualified mid-major and/or FCS assistant to be his OC and DC... Coaches make a world of difference in recruiting and skill-building...
Will give Woodard some credit in that regard. He did not load up on JUCO or HS coaches. Most of his assistants have some legitimate Div I experience and it will do him better than it did Dodge.
 24. FYI - if tourney started today, Lamar would have the sixth and final spot... good thing for Lamar is they have now played FOUR of the teams ahead of them, so they should be able to solidify their spot - already played SFA, SHSU, TXST and SLU... [Hidden Content]=
