I'm interested to see if you guys round into form come SLC time...hopefully, the conference is improved this year. Would be nice if soccer and volleyball could catch up with some of the other sports that are rapidly improving.

Just heard that Lamar Asst SID Drew Lacy has left the athletic department and the university. Good luck to Drew in his future endeavors. He's a class act and very good at what he does. His profile: [Hidden Content]

Hope they were not taking part in the tryouts in terms of physically getting involved...

Any news on LU Softball Program
TexasTerror replied to Mr.Green Jeans's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Can you provide proof? Trying to find something on this page ([Hidden Content]) from the Center for Distance Education. All "on-campus"-type fees (i.e. Student Health Center, Rec Center, Setzer Center) are removed for those who only take distance classes. Would have to assume athletics is included since that's an "on-campus" type fee. Then again, the student service fee was on there last year and that is where athletics fee typically comes from. Now, is it different that athletics has their own fee separate from that? -
From reading, looks like SHSU-OU result. Both SHSU and LU got beat 3-0, but got outshot by a large margin by their Big 12 foes. Would be nice to see the SLC get the big win in futbol!

Any news on LU Softball Program

Got to get with the terminology - "sand volleyball". They threw out the 'beach' word for purposes of the college sport. The Southland is behind it, as is the Sun Belt. -
Any news on LU Softball Program

I do not see complete credibility in those numbers for athletic purposes, if not all students (the 3k-5k who are through that online teaching program/whatever) are paying student fees pertaining to athletics. Didn't we come to that conclusion - that athletic fees were not coming from those students? With SFA and SHSU adding bowling - you guys are next! Hope UCA adds as well. Then, we can get Ark St and La Tech as affiliate members for SLC bowling! Or are you going to add sand volleyball? I think that most the SLC is. -
He's the "Andy Katz" of Fox Sports. Does an okay job for his obscurity. Written about A&M-CC, Northwestern St and SHSU in the last few blogs prior to this one. Talked about the Kats' Ashton Mitchell. Good piece.

Gilligan Nears Completion Of Signing Class

You are correct about Henderson pitching after the student vote. The information regarding players who left is not factual and I am not sure where any of that was reported. -
LU Football To Play Twice In Domes
TexasTerror replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I was in the Superdome last night. The facility has never impressed me and I've just never gotten the feel in the two games I have been that I am at a quality football venue, let alone at a football game. -

This is the BEST schedule you could have gotten! Sure, the home games are probably not what you wanted (with half being sub-Div I games), but you get four SLC games total. Games against upstarts, which is good as well. North Dakota and South Dakota are in the Great West, which is a conference that has consistently scheduled games against the SLC. -
Q & A About LU's Football Schedule
TexasTerror replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Hey Lee - get the memo! Lamar and the SLC may be adding sand volleyball too, just like many other schools in the region (the Sun Belt is on board) when the NCAA adds the sport next year. At least explain why! It is because you have to average X amount of scholarships over two years! -

LU Football To Play Twice In Domes
TexasTerror replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
It was an odd stat out of nowhere. For those of us a bit older than young MFFL, we are used to plenty of dome stadiums. I thought the domed stadium era was a little older than the year specified. It's neat stuff... Still - more comments on the mistake(s) and giving me crap than remarks on the schedule! -
LU Football To Play Twice In Domes
TexasTerror replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
In the article on the LU web site - it mentions the Cards were the first college team to play in a domed stadium twice in one year. Mentions the Astrodome and Superdome. I have a hard time believing that is factual, but then again, Rush Wood was covering the Cards back then, so he's probably right. Impressive stat! Which teams were playing in domed stadiums back then? Pre 1975? Houston. When'd Tulane leave Tulane Stadium for the Superdome? Nevermind, found it. 1975! -
2010 Schedule Announced for Lamar Cards!
TexasTerror replied to TexasTerror's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Not going to even start talking '10 football games between LU-SHSU until we know which each team will have that year. I'm clueless on the QB situation outside of the backups we have now (behind Blake Joseph) and these newcomers (freshman and otherwise) still need to show themselves during the 2009 season... 2010 slate is tough for SHSU. Road trips to WIU, Baylor and Lamar. If SHSU goes 2-1, I'll be very happy. -
2010 Schedule Announced for Lamar Cards!

Three hours later and the only response(s) on two separate threads on a big football announcement are about errors by the Beaumont Enterprise! Guess the news caught the Cards fans offguard! -
2010 Schedule Announced for Lamar Cards!
TexasTerror replied to TexasTerror's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
My question is whether the games against South Alabama, UND, Georgia State and USD are home-and-home deals. Assuming they are. Anyone have an idea on when they will be returned? Could not be all in 2011 due to the SLC slate the Cards will play - assuming USD and/or UND leaks into 2012??? -
Great schedule! Good mix of FCS and non-Div I programs that will help the Cards get on the right track for 2011. [Hidden Content] LAMAR 9-4...at McNeese State 9-11...WEBBER INTERNATIONAL 9-18...at Southeastern Louisiana 9-25...at Stephen F. Austin 10-2...SAM HOUSTON STATE 10-9...LANGSTON 10-16... SOUTH ALABAMA 10-30... at North Dakota 11-6 ... at Georgia State 11-13...SOUTH DAKOTA 11-20...OKLAHOMA PANHANDLE STATE If my counting is right... 4 SLC games 3 Sub-Div I games 8 Div I games (including two up-starts, South Alabama and Georgia State)

Gilligan Nears Completion Of Signing Class
TexasTerror replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Worrell situation. It was based off of a lie and a friendship between two coaches. As it relates to your post, Some of the information you are posting, particularly as it relates to athletes leaving, is not factual either outside of the Wake coaching situation. Only two current student-athletes left to Div I institutions in wake of what occurred and neither was from a major sport (VB, Hoops, baseball). Henderson was off the baseball roster prior to the student vote by two weeks, before there were any legitimate concerns of UNO athletes being derailed. -

Do we know if Henderson ever officially transferred to LU? Guessing he has to sit out a year with the new transfer requirements since the program he left is still intact and he was the only current player on the roster to leave. May be good for him. -
