  1. Buna wins 8-1 over EC.  Another solid outing from Walden, Cougar bats finally woke up late and put it away.  Build on this one guys.  See you in Anahuac Friday night.  Go Cougars!
  2. Price kid pitched a great game as well as Walden.  Prices' fastball not dominating, but his curve and offspeed did the trick.  Kept Buna off balance and time and time again kept Buna off the board with runners in scoring position.  Justin Yoes needs to get his props as well, his play in right for the Cougars was exceptional with 2 Sportscenter highlight plays.  Ok Buna, we've seen you bounce back after a heart attack comeback last week, let's see you bounce back from a tough loss.  You got it in you.  This district race is going to look like a mud puddle before it's all over.  It won't be fun, but it for sure will be interesting.  Well played game tonight Kountze.  Let's go Buna, see you Monday night back at The Diamond.
  3. Reese Gray is the Warren catcher, and he did a great job keeping Buna runners shut down.  Not the strongest arm, but very accurate.
  4. Deweyville has Buna Monday night, I'm sure they won't be throwing their ace at Silsbee.
  5. We got a few other arms that have looked good in the past few weeks.  Who's going for Kountze?
  6. So does that mean Deweyville is not good, or Silsbee is just that awesome?
  7. I hear ya.  I like to talk it up to, but would much rather do it on the field.  Let the 'W's do the talking.
  8. Not sure who you are, break_em_off, but this is the kind of trash talk that fires opposing teams up to play us.  In this district, every game is a challenge and noone is district champion until the end of the season.  The rest of the district needs no more inspiration to beat us, 4 straight titles has done that.  This years Cougars have alot of heart and a number of kids coming through everynight.  Take alook at the stats, there is no obvious stud, these boys are the true definition of a TEAM.  Now, for Pocogrande, Buna, an also ran, please.  Give credit where credit is due.  Go Cougars, see you in Buna Friday night, should be another good one.
  9. Solid career, solid team, solid coach.  He respects his players, they respect him.  Keep the wins coming coach, congrats on #100.
  10. Nice 7 inning pitching performance from Jacob "Cub" Clark and a solo blast from John Hawthorn help propel the Cougars to their win tonight.  Warren is really an improved team from last year.  Their pitcher pitched well, just ran out of gas late.  Good win Cougars!  See you at 'The Diamond' Friday night!
  11. If a few of the Coogs big sticks ever break loose and find their groove, they will dominate, but until then, just keep small ballin' and winning the close ones guys.  Once again great comeback, you pumped up a good size crowd for a Wednesday night rescheduled game.  7 in a row....Cardiac Coogs.....
  12. Good luck to the Rebels from your friendly foes in Buna!!  Win it all guys!!
  13. He threw very good.  And stayed strong, didn't seem to lose any velocity through the game.
  14. Mitchell picking up where he left off at last year.  Sounds like EC is missing more than Jones this year.  Good start AP.  See you April Fools in Anahuac.
  15. Cardiac Cougars are back!!!   Jacob 'Cub' Clark K'd 13 for the Cougars while allowing 3 hits in 7 innings, along with knocking home the winning run with an infield roller to win game 1 of the 2011 23-AA district race.  Hardins' pitcher, #5 pitched a solid game, not sure on the number of k's, but he had quite a few, and allowed only 1 hit, keeping the Coogs off balance and swinging late all night.  Cougars had a couple errors both physical and mental, combined with a couple Hardin hits in the first to allow all 3 runs to score for the Hornets.  Buna scrapped back with a sac fly in the second to score Blake Hale after a walk and a passball.  Hardins' pitcher kept his no-no going until the bottom of the 6th when with 2 on and 2 out, 2 strikes, Hale singled home Sawyer McCauley to get within one and get the first hit of the night.  Clark went out and handled the Hornets one more time in the top of 7, adding to his K total once again.  Glenn Patrick led of the bottom of the 7th, reaching base on a close play at first, following a K, Justin Yoes reached base on a walk, putting runners on first and second.  Kale Terrier, master of the bunt, sac bunted the runners over, but that was not enough for Coach T, as he sent Patrick to home on the bunt and thanks to a bad throw and drop by the catcher, Patrick scored to tie the contest.  That set up a 2 out, runner on third situation for Clark, always a threat to smash a hit, this time contact got the job done.  A slow roller to the left side of the infield, with Yoes moving from third on contact, and a close play, but a dropped ball allowed Clark to reach safely and Yoes to cross the plate to secure the win for the Cougars.  Way to fight back Buna, let's not make 'em all this interesting.  Have a good weekend in the Kirbyville tourney guys!!
  16. Hardin always comes ready to play.  Cougars are hot.  Should be a good one.  See you at The Diamond tomorrow night!  Go Cougars!!!
  17. Errors yes, but umpires costing Kirbyville the game?  Are you kidding me?  The field ump blew 2 obvious calls at first base in favor of Kirbyville.  We have the picture to prove the second call.  Don't know what game you were watching...the floating strike zone was there, but it went both ways as usual.  Keep making excuses.  Give credit where credit is due, Walden for BUna pitched a great game and Buna's defense shut down the Wildcat chances.  Congrats to the Coogs on their 5th straight win, keep it up guys.
  18. Not a fan of any kind of noisemakers, players beating on things, or chants.  This is baseball, not football.  Football feeds off of adrenaline, baseball needs a more serene environment.  A thinking mans game.  Enough said before I get to Crash Davis on ya'll.
  19. Yep, too many walks for the Cougar pitchers.  All young ones, gotta get 'em some work and this is the time to do so.  Keep your heads up Coogs, it will all come together.
  20. Great job tonight by Lance Brown for the Tigers.  Kept the Coogs off balance with a strong fastball and a good offspeed.  Cougars, you got some work to do, but keep your heads up, we all knew there was going to be some growing pains this year.  Defense will be solid, pitching can't give up the walks and HBP's we did tonight, and the hitting will come around.  Get a few of these fresh faces some AB's and we'll be ready in time for district.  Thats what this first month is for.  Go Cougars, see you in Lumberton later this week.
  21. Agreed...should be a good one.  Buna has a couple arms hurting, but will come out firing.  Good luck to both teams and we'll see you in Silsbee tonight.  Go Cougars!!
  22. You must be from Kountze...LOL...Others to watch, Jones from EC, J. Clark from Buna, Mitchell from Anahuac.  Good luck to all the teams locally, should be a dogfight.
  23. Absolutely, but Clark, Hale, Hawthorn and Terrier (Seniors) are going have to lead by example.  There are going to be a number of young, inexperienced guys needing to fill some holes, and we have those guys.  This district has toughened up quite a bit since Buna entered it 4 years ago.  There is no doubt in my mind this squad can make it 5 in a row.  Good luck Cougars, Seniors, enjoy the ride!
