When I think of H-J, I think of basketball and golf.  However, lest we forget that the Hawks play in a district with the likes of Silsbee, WO-S, H-F, OF and BC.  This past season this was a pretty tough district from top to bottom. Year in and year out, Silsbee and WO-S are always tough.  BC, OF and H-F have their ups and downs as well.  BC had them just a few years ago.  H-F contiues to struggle.  It is cyclical, but community support should always remain a constant, whether you win or lose.  These are kids from your community, your churches, sons and or daughters of your neighbors. 

Game of the Week it was.  Solid win to cap off a solid season by the Coogs.  Congrats to all the seniors on another great season and good luck to the underclassmen as they return next year.

Aside from football, another great effort was put forth last night as well, as fans from both teams donated a total of over $4000, collected by cheerleaders in the stands to be donated to the Julie Rogers Foundation in an effort to fight breast cancer.  No matter what the score was, two small communties came together for one cause last night.  The performance by the EC band to honor all current cancer patients and all cancer survivors was a touching moment.  Well done!

The Cats have surpassed all expectations from everyone this season, no reason to stop now.  Get this one, then look out BC.

What is there to change when you have lost your D1 prospect and your starting QB to injury?  Tell the kids to not get hurt anymore?  That might work...not.  Losing to EC, not a suprise, good ballclub.  Losing to Woodville, more of a shock, but after I saw Woodville at the end of last year, I said they would be a real contender this year, it took them awhile, but here they are. 

Jeremy should start, he is your future.  And can someone please teach the DB's how to catch a football.  Geez..

Tailgate Party had them losing 94 to 52 to Chapel.

Last update I had was Buna 39-6.  Also reported that Bunas' QB, Kolton Clark, has a broken arm.  Terrible news, he has been a real bright spot for the Coogs this season.  Get well Kolton, baseball starts in 3 months.  Good win Buna.

OF is gritty, tough and battle tested after the first 2 games of district.  Even though they have been losses, they have been hard fought.  HF has the offense and the athletes, and an improving defense.  Should be a good battle.  Good luck to both squads.

With our impending move back to 3A, I am in favor of this proposal.  It would probably put Buna, HJ, OF, HF all headed North, but should make for a very competitive district.  The spread between us and Silsbee, WO-S and Bridge City is just too much.  Our numbers are a bit out of whack this year thanks to an extremely large freshmen class (over 140, compared to graduating class of '11 with 90).

This is why sometimes I hate even getting on here.  It doesn't matter if it's Anahuac, Warren, West Brook, or Nederland, if a team loses or performs badly, it's the coaches fault.  Sometimes it is, no doubt, but if the personnel you have aren't performing, you lose.  Adjustments can be and should be made true, but it still comes down to personnel.  Anahuac has lost their D1 runner to injury, their starting QB to injury (re: no passing game) and are basically relying on 2 players to get the job done.  We played them tough for 2 1/2 quarters last week and if we would have been able to stop those 2 guys in the 3rd quarter, it would have been a nailbiter till the end.  We didn't, EC did.  Congrats to EC, work harder AP, playoffs are still yours for the taking.

It really suprised me.  We travel well though, Buna always brings a big crowd and on most occasions have more in our stands than the home team does.  When we played Newton I made the comment about how sparse their crowd looked, but I think there were even fewer fans there this past Friday night for the game with Woodville.  Interesting...

Not sure that this topic is even necessary to post on.  On another note, a question for Newton fans, why on the highlights last week against Woodville, did the home stands look only half full?  Just curious...

First of all, caneyhead#1, a bit out of hand, huh? Secondly, tigersvoice, sorry I got your panties in a knot, but just because it worked for Coldspring, doesn't mean it will work for your beloved Tigers.  We are not all dummies on here, some of us actually understand football and the importance of a game plan.  Good luck to both squads tonight, should be a good game.

They are still searching for their first W under Coach V.  You wonder if he knew this going in and wanted a challenge, or was it to move back home (birthplace) or did losing Jones at QB over at EC scare him enough to find another job.  Either way, good luck to him and the Tors on trying to get their first win.

If the games in Huntington, make sure and leave early to hit the Huntington Meat Market.  Gotta a big 16 oz. sirloin for like 9 bucks.  Not worth a flip, but it's $9.  Nice buffet also.

JMO  [/quote] Well said.  Numerous posters keep hoping for more weight room time, better offseason program, and numerous other things that might make some improvement, but plain and simple, Warren does not field the same athletes that these other schools do.  It has been and will be hard for them to compete, especially in this district.  Tough, too tough.

AP came to town last year with a great game plan and absolutely shut down a Cougar offense that had played Newton a great game and after the loss to AP, beat the eventual district champs in EC.  If our game plan takes that into consideration and goes for some suprises and keeps the Panthers off balance, we stand a great chance.  But with that said, speed kills.  It has always been Buna weakness and still is.  We have a couple of backs with speed and looked good on a number of sweeps against Newton.  Mix that in along with a few passes, then we should hold our own.  It should be a good game, the meetings in 2008 and 2009 were decided by 1 TD.  GO COUGARS!!

Another solid performance by the Coogs.  Passing, running, solid D.  Hardin was as usual, athletic, great passing routes, but just not very physical.  Clark to Frasier is quickly becoming my favorite combo, right ahead of burger, fries and a shake.  Let's go get AP next week boys.  Nice win guys and GO COUGARS!!!
