  1. I shall assume that the new regime, is the same as the old regime. Thats right, 5 district titles in a row for the Cougars!  Another scrappy effort tonight for the Buna boys.  Although Jacob Clark didn't have his best stuff, it was probably his best performance of the season.  He fought hard and never gave up, a real gutsy performance with so much on the line tonight.  If I am right, every Cougar had at least 1 hit tonight as well, some had multiple hits.  The now solid Cougar defense keeps on getting better every game, great range at shortstop with Terrier, a really good arm coming out of center with McCauley, numerous digs and stops over at first with Hale, Yoes running down balls over in left, Patricks arm from behind the dish.  I really like the way these boys have come together in the second half of the season.  Good feelings heading into the postseason.  Congrats to the seniors tonight, Terrier, Hawthorn, Hale, McCauley and Clark.  Keep it up guys, great season and now on to the playoffs.  GO COUGARS!!!!
  2. WB- Jed McBride OF- Jace Statum (A & M), Jacob Felts (UT) Buna- Josh Clark (Seminole JC), Sidney Richard
  3. Sorry Shly, strongly disagree, bad idea....unless they are playing 4, 1 minute quarters with no kickoffs and maybe a flag on their belt instead of pads, then it might not get bad, but....and Buna versus Deweyville, bad blood man, bad blood.
  4. Jacob 'Cub' Clark hit his 3rd of the season for Buna tonight at EC.
  5. Big win for the Coogs tonight, with a 10 run victory over EC.  Richard Walden had another stellar performance on the mound in throwing the shutout.  Walden got lots of support with numerous Coogs getting hits, including Jacob 'Cub' Clark hitting his 3rd bomb of the season, a blast off the scoreboard in the top of 6.  That makes dingers in back to back games for Clark.  Blake Hale added a couple of hits and ribbies, while Sawyer McCauley did a good job moving into the leadoff position by getting on the bags and creating havoc.  Keep it up Cougars, 1 more win for the 5th district championship in a row.  Great job guys!!  See you in Buna next Friday at The Diamond against Anahuac.
  6. A much needed win for the Tigers.  Keep it up Caleb. Thanks Year of the Pat for bringin' back some good memories with the pic.  I'm really glad it's too small for people to see me in it.  LOL
  7. We're a little big man town, what can we say...Congrats to Dr. Cousins.
  8. True, but ejected, he must have took it to another level.
  9. Ejected, nice.  How bad was the play that got him ejected?  Lets' here it from both sides, don't be shy Warren faithful.
  10. Updated as of April 15: Buna 7-3 Warren 7-3 Anahuac 5-4 Hardin  4-5 Kountze 4-5 Deweyville  3-6 EC   3-7 Correct?  Please correct if wrong..
  11. Sounds like what happens when any team that has been making a good run, then kind of hits a wall.  Everything that goes wrong is not their fault.  Maybe I'm wrong, but typically thats how it happens.  I know personally, when were losing, the umps are always terrible and when your winning you tend to overlook or yell a bit quieter at least.
  12. No doubt, our hearts and prayers from Buna go out to the boys and the community and especially the Williams family in this time of need.
  13. Big win for the Coogs tonight.  Jacob 'Cub' Clark with one of his best outings of the season on the mound.  At the plate, Kale Terrier had 2 triples, Richard Walden had one, while Clark helped himself out at the plate as well with his seond bomb of the season, lots of hits up and down the lineup.  On the defensive side, Clark got lots of help from first baseman Blake Hale with a number of great plays, scoops and stretches.  Good win tonight guys, keep it rollin'!  With the loss by Warren, back tied for first place again.  Go COUGARS!!!
  14. Good win for the Cougars, although I would prefer the games to not be this close anymore guys.  Walden did another good job in relief for Buna.  Bats were going early and then everything started going right to the Lion defense.  Good effort by Kountze with the rally to get back into the game. #7 for Kountze really stroked the baseball tonight including a big hit to get it to 8-7 in the bottom of 7.  Solid defense by the Coogs late to preserve the game, a few miscues early, but solid late when it counted.  Keep it going guys, 3 more to go.  See you in Deweyville Friday afternoon at 5:30.  GO COUGARS!!
  15. Congrats to the Warriors on a big win tonight.  Gray pitched a great game.  Not handing over the regime until you win out and take the district crown, but you are in control now.  Good win Warren.  Keep your heads up Coogs!
  16. I agree, but I think it is the second game of the year for the district season, the game Friday night in Anahuac was pretty big with Buna getting the win over the Panthers.  Going into that game, if AP wins, they would have been in control of their own destiny, of course who saw them losing to EC on Tuesday night.  No doubt, Buna/Warren 2 will be a great contest.  And BReak-em, bout time you woke up and got into this discussion.
  17. Your bench could start for who?  Noone is overlooking anybody at this point, trust me.  All I want to know is why in 5 games have ya'll become so dominant?  What has changed over the last few weeks?  Just curious...please explain...GO COUGARS!
  18. Personal opinion, 24-2A picks: MVP: Coach who keeps his team focused and wins district. First Team All-District: District Champions Second Team All-District: District Runner-ups Honorable Mention: District 3rd place team   There have been so many great performances thus far, however, everybody has been beat at least 2 times.  So in actuality, noone is dominating correct?  Nobody is running away with this district. Should be a dogfight till the end.  I would hate to be the coaches at seasons end trying to decide the all-district picks.
  19. So in 5 games, the Warriors have become too deep, too strong for Buna?  Buna did beat them 2 1/2 weeks ago 6-1.  How soon we forget.  No doubt they are good, best we've seen coming out of Warren in a number of years, but dominant, not sure about that.  Either way, should be a good one, GO COUGARS!
  20. Should be another great 24-2A showdown.  If your team has the night off, travel on over to Buna to see a good one.  Warren has really stepped up since the loss to Buna a few weeks back and Buna seems to have finally got the wheels back on the bus.  Go COUGARS!!!
  21. Pulling another victory from the jaws of defeat, the Buna Cougars come from behind twice tonight to beat the Hardin Hornets 4-3 in 8 innings.  Complete game win goes to Richard Walden after pitching another solid performance.  The Hornets tied things up in the bottom half of the 7th after Buna had a 3-2 lead, but an inning ending double play started by Terrier tagging second base and Hale making a great scoop at first to complete it, snuffed out the rally.  Glen Patrick came up with a huge leadoff triple to start the top of the 8th, followed by a sac fly to right by Kale Terrier to give the Cardiac Coogs the lead.  Walden set the Hornets down in order to seal the win in the bottom half of the 8th.  Top half of the order (Patrick, Terrier, Clark and Walden) got it done tonight at the plate for Buna, who overall is still struggling as a team hitting, but if just a few of the bottom half step up as they did Friday against Anahuac, these guys are going to be pretty hard to beat.  As far as the ump, home plate to be exact, he did seem to struggle with consistency as far as his zone, but when a team is not hitting very well, it makes those calls really stand out.  Keep up the winning ways Buna.  See you at The Diamond in Buna Friday night against Warren.  Go Cougars!
  22. Yes, thats right first place, you know, in the standings....  Buna, Anahuac, Warren all in first place with Buna having the edge due to head to head wins.  The entire team hit well, only maybe 2 kids didn't get a hit.  And far as who pitched, I already said, Clark and Clark on the bump....
  23. Big win for the Cougars, back in first place where we belong.  Combination of errors by AP, solid defense for the Coogs, improved hitting by the Buna boys along with solid outings from Clark and Clark on the bump.  Keep it going in Hardin on Tuesday, let's go Cougars.
