  1. Congrats to Kyle and his family.  Great friends for the past 8 years thanks to Scrappers Baseball.  #25 Big Hurt
  2. EC is losing alot, as is Buna.  Woodville should be very strong in '11.  Anahuac and Newton will return good skilled guys as well.  Look for it to be another battle week after week next season.
  3. Great season by the 'Cats.  Other than the cold, it was a pleasure to be in attendance at a great HS game at a great stadium.  Congrats to Coldspring and another Coach Barbay on a big win.  The Trojan D and run game dominated (although the score doesn't show it, 27-20) the game.  For Kirbyville, Jones to Cucanic was a great combo.  Great season for Kirbyville and Coach Alvarez.
  4. Really was a good ballgame, Crockett had a size advantage and 3 guys who could run the ball very well out of the backfield.  AP kept their heads up and fought until the very end.  Albritton shined once again, can't wait to follow his success as a senior.  Congrats to Coach Barbay and his his staff on another solid season.
  5. In a 70-26 loss, is it really being outcoached? or just simply outplayed?  Hats off to all the Newton players and staff, lots of respect from those of us in your district during a tough, roller coaster season.
  6. Great win for AP and Coach Barbay.  I was happy to be in attendance at this game.  Jefferson was huge, but slow.  If AP hold onto the ball in the first half, it would have been 42-0.  AP had way to much speed for those boys.  And Lefty, I understand the no bashing of coaches, but c'mon, the Jefferson coach deserves his dues man.  That was pathetic.  You lost, AP was doing the right thing kneeling and your D-line is still busting thru on kneel downs.  Give me a break.  Win with class, lose with class...Now I'll shut up.  Once again, don't let their actions take away from a solid win for the Panthers and Coach B.  Buna is proud of you and Newton.  Lets go EC next week, keep those winning ways up for 10-2A D1!
  7. Wow, still no respect for Buna.  Should be another great 10-2A District game.  Good luck to both teams in the seaosn finale.  Go Cougars!
  8. No doubt, hats off to Kale T.  This whole team has no quit in them whatsoever.  We've had better athletes in the past, but this team has more heart than any squad I've seen in years. Newton or EC won't lose next week, they play Warren and Kountze, no offense to those 2 schools.  Anahuac finishes with Hardin, you never know about Hardin.  But a win by Buna at Woodville would tie Buna and Newton at 5-2 for third place.  If it goes to head-to-head, Newton is in, if it goes to a tiebreaker, it will be interesting.  Not sure of district rule on this.  I am sure we'll get several versions, but if anyone associated with the district has info, please pass it on.
  9. Great performance by the Coogs!  Yoes, Carr and Williams once again using ball control running to score and eat up the clock.  Terrier (Buna QB) hurt (knee), not sure how bad, but didn't look good.  Get well Kale!  Defense played an amazing game for the Cougars.   My vote for Southeast Texas Defensive player of the week, Scott Edwards, 1 int, 2 big stops on 4th downs.  Hopefully he will get the recognition for his efforts he put out tonight, he was everywhere.  And by the way uknowit2, Jones did run, and played the entire game, if the district is wrapped up, which it is, and all your worried about are the playoffs, then why was he in there even down by 3 TD's?  Not sure about that decision ...  Anyway, don't take anything away from the victory!  Great win COUGARS!  See you in Woodville next Friday, lets pack the house with blue and white!!
  10. Great comeback win Panthers.  Congrats Coach Barbay and his squad for getting back on the right track in the second half.
  11. Great win for the Cougars.  Carr, Williams and Ford on the ground, Terrier to McCauley, Bradshaw and Askew through the air.  Edwards finally getting his TD with a Pick 6.  Hats off to the Warriors, even through a long season, they never backed down, never gave up.  Keep working them boys Coach Barbay.  Ok Cougars, buckle down, only 1 chance at the playoffs, gotta win out.  Let's get it done!  Go Cougars!!  See you at Cougar Stadium one more time next Friday when EC comes to town.
  12. Cougars bounced back from the loss to AP with another impressive offensive show, with a 55-7 win over Kountze.  Carr looked quite comfortable taking over at feature back (over 200 yards).  Williams continued his hardnosed style of running (over 100 yards).  Clark goes Pick 6 twice, returning 2 INT's for TD's.  Both O and D lines played extremely physical.  Terrier threw a couple of bullets to McCauley.  Kountze was down early, but never backed down, played hard to the last second.  Great win Cougars!  Total team effort.  See you in Buna Friday night against Warren for Homecoming.
  13. For those of us in Buna who don't trash talk on here, Buna has long had much respect for both Anahuac and Coach Barbay.  The game plan and the execution from AP last night worked to perfection.  Yes, Bunas' ground game was shut down, but we will be back.  Solid win for the Panthers.
  14. Don't take any credit away from Anahuac by saying Buna came out flat.  The Panthers just flat out put it on us tonight.  Dominated the offensive side of the ball as well as the defensive side.  Albritton is a beast, but Anahuac has 3 others that run just as hard and fast.  I don't know how many times we hit Albritton at or near the line of scrimmage and he still ended up with 5 yards up the middle.  Coach Barbay had a solid game plan coming into tonight.  I would put AP in the drivers seat in 10-2A.  Bad field position and a few other bad decisions kept Buna looking at a long field all night.  The Cougars fought hard and never gave up.  Bounce back Coogs, show us what your made of.  Go Cougars!!!
  15. Question for all Hardin folks....How can you have such a nice stadium (turf, new stands, concrete everywhere) and not have 25 second clocks??  Somebody didn't plan to well.
  16. Should be a battle, just like the past few seasons.  Anahuac will get the big plays, but the ball control, run dominated offfense of the Cougars will be tough to stop.  Go Cougars!  See you in Buna Friday night!!
  17. Solid win for the Bucs, but gotta admit, I was rooting for the Eagles.
  18. Great win for the Cougars!  Williams, Craft and the entire Buna offensive line just dominated Hardins' defense.  Hardins' QB (Taylor) played as gritty as ever (great competitor).  Hornets offensive line did a great job giving him time in first half, but the Cougars defense started getting to him in the second half, forcing a few throws.  #5 and #10 for Hardin are excellent athletes and really make it tough to defend the pass, big and fast.  Edwars for Buna made some bonecrushing hits on defense, Moss, Sharp, Ross pushed the line back into the pocket.  If Bunas' line continues to open holes like they have in the first 2 district games, they all will deserve First Team All-District.  Great win Cougars!!  Now let's get ready for Anahuac.  See you in Buna Friday!
  19. I had the privilege to attend Coach Barbays' funeral service today in Kirbyville and once again it was so great to see the outpouring of support from our entire community and the representation of so many area schools in attendance.  Bishop Guillory from the Beaumont Catholic Diocese attended and spoke as well.  All the flowers were decorated with the school colors from which they were sent, just another reminder of the support behind this family.  After 2 hours of visitation and another hour and a half during the funeral, you'd think that all the touching moments had come to an end, but then as you pass through the town of Kirbyville, there were countless people standing next to the road expressing their sorrows and showing respect for Coach and his family in this time of loss.  And then you pass by the high school, and lined up next to the highway, the entire Kirbyville Wildcat football team!  Wow.  Just another unbelievable gesture of respect for a true Texas coaching legend.  Rest in peace Coach Barbay, you will be missed.  Prayers to the entire Barbay family.
  20. Albritton-AP, Bennett and Jackson-NEW, Craft and Williams-BUNA, Roberts-EC, Howard-KOU.  All pretty good backs in 10-2A.  You can't trust the stats posted, or at least gauge everyone off them because not every coach or school turns them in.
  21. Hardin will get their points due to a potent passing attack, but stopping Bunas' run offense will be the true task for Hardin on Friday night.
  22. Hardin has a solid passing attack led by 3 year starter Taylor, but Bunas' defense has been so strong all year (even giving up 42 against Newton, they still played really well.)  The Cougar offense has looked stronger this past few weeks and can only keep getting better.  Should be another great 10-2A district game.  Go Cougars!!
