I agree. I watched btw  and yates yesterday. Yates is pretty much the team silsbee was last year as far as depth ,youth and potential. They plated btw hard and well from start to finish, and could’ve  pulled it out.

BTW is tall , plays tough on both ends. They press on and off throughout the game , and drive hard to the basket . They also use  their length well underneath… their weakness is Proby silsbee’s strength .. depth !!!! There’s a major drop between btw’s starter’s and their bench

I can see where you are coming from ...That Atascocita vs desoto state title game left a bad taste in peoples mouths..Atascocita was out toughed  but most teams are gonna mirror their coaches... some of the elite team u won’t know wether  they are intimidated or not because the coaches don’t allow them to be mouthy on the court... I’ve watched green coach a lot at north shore and  have watched BU on the court maybe 3 or 4 times these last two years have rarely saw his players murmur a word .. same as with the coach at Yates ..

but as far as football the no dfw hasn’t done anything in years in 6a ... they have won 2 out of 12 championships in the last 6 years

Congratulations BU beat the snot out of north Texas ..this year regardless of classification  they have been the best team in the entire gha and will probably be for the next two years  ... bruh I got mad love for Beaumont .. family has history there in that area  .. one of the old high school’s Charlton- Pollard is named after one of my family members ( charlton).  No insult on you But that out-tough statement sounds really present-minded and  sheepish bruh..don’t forget  ( most of the time it’s SUBURBAN Houston schools that beat the TOUGH Beaumont , inner city Houston , and port Arthur schools to get out of the gha/ reg3.  ..true Dallas gets up to play Houston .. Houston is its older and bigger brother so of course they’re gonna come hard ..but ask ur sources and urself this ...  if the dfw schools are able to out tough the Houston schools  then why doesn’t it work in football ?

Jahmi’us Ramsey led Duncanville to the 6A state title a couple of years ago and was just drafted by Sacramento.  Duncanville was the third school he attended...HIS SENIOR YEAR.
The point is that the UiL, which is as broken and dysfunctional as the NCAA, ALLOWS these DECs to make those decisions.  As evidenced by the Ardoin kid, the appellate process is pretty much a perfunctory joke as well.  So you have one end of the spectrum where you have DFW where the “let them play” mantra rules supreme.  And then the other where you have ADs or Sups or coaches voting kids down who should qualify just to improve their own school’s chances of success.  I would argue that the latter is more disgusting but certainly not trying to justify the former.

But then you have people hammering HISD (and Yates usually is the whipping boy) about transfers, etc.  But when Dallas has been doing it FOR YEARS and the uil relies on self-governance, is Houston just to concede the championships to Dallas?  Granted FFA is the most egregious I’ve seen (importing a whole coaching staff and team).

Until the uil gets off its behind and fixes the system (which would take a lot more money and resources than it has), this is what we are stuck with.  If it were me, I would punish the bad actors on both sides - the Faith Family’s AND Huffman’s of the world.

It’s obvious u don’t know the area or about gpisd... all of the athletes live within walking distance of north shore high school , Cunningham and nsms... all three of those schools are walking distance from each other .. although the school has turned predominantly Hispanic north shore is still around 25-30 percent black .. with 4K plus students .. there’s hardly any blacks on the galena park side ... nsms is around 20 percent black and Cunningham is around 50 percent black ... the schools that are zoned gp don’t have hardly any blacks ...most of the blacks that live near gp high are zoned to hisd ... galena park middle and woodland acres middle are nowhere near north shore high , therefor it’s now way those zones can be stretched like that

Gp and north shore are in two totally different areas .. the high schools are 20 minutes / 10 miles apart ... the black athletes don’t live anywhere near GP... NS is in a newer mostly residential area most of the homes there were built in the 70’s and up ... gp is in an old industrial area .. homes were built mostly in the 40,50,and 60’s  ... there are no new subdivisions in gp’s  area...

Can't say I'm surprised at any of this 😟
I don't like wearing mask either, but I always wear one when I'm in any enclosed area. From what I understand, the virus is a lot less contagious in open outdoor areas like football stands. So if people would just follow a few simple and easy rules, we could have a full season.

Just a reminder, this mask rule that is in the UIL guideline is due to Governor Abbott's executive order.  First event of failure is a warning, second is a $250 fine per subsequent offense.  If I were a mayor in a town that one of these games were being played in, I would have the police chief have the department out IN FORCE at one of these games.  A REAL good way to make up for some budget shortfalls.

If home team can not follow the rules and dictate how it’s suppose to go on that team should forfeit the game/lose privilege to host fans the next week/ or move next said home game to be played on the road. Can’t follow rules needs to be repercussions. Me personally turn that district win to a loss teams will take things very serious then

I have too. But doesn't mean a school cannot require them to be worn for entry.
If it's required to attend games, then one should wear a mask to attend. Otherwise, you can stay home.

    Your choice.
But it's a business, school, public and private entity to have the right to require a mask.
No different than the "no shoes, no shirt, no service" policy.

It doesn't matter what we think about the virus, we're not in charge.
If we want football (and other sports) to keep going this year we're going to all have to follow the rules set in place whether we like it or not.

We are talking about this team which has both.  They beat Mater Dei by 40+, DeMatha by 20, Chicago Whitney Young by 26, Atlanta McEachern by 50+, Archbishop Carroll by 50+, scotlandville (La) by 30+, and IMG by 20.  All typically perennial powers from across the county. I don’t think you appreciate (from your comments only) how good this team was.  You will when you watch some of those kids in the league.  Like I said, when 2 of MV’s players from a recent team were top 2 picks and are now NBA all stars (played one year in college), maybe you would concede they would fare well against a low mid team, maybe you wouldn’t.  Most believe this year’s team was deeper and better.

My opinions don’t have “all of the value.”  They might be more informed because I see most of these kids in person every spring and summer, and saw quite a bit of SLC basketball this year.  But just my opinion.  I happen to have one, as do you.

And ultimately it’s all speculation.  But it’s a fun topic while we are cooped up and bored.  I’m just speculating correctly while you are not 😜

I see your point and I think those two will be NBA players.  So will others at Montverde.  Eight months doesn't make a huge difference, but when the gap is two or three years it adds up.  That's not just s&c, but experience, discipline, and maturity as well.  This is why I think the teams dominated by one and done kids don't win as many championships as people think they should.

Montverde, IMG, Oak Hill, Sunrise, Findlay, etc are all very, very good, but they should be.  They pull talent from all over the country and even the world.  Of course they should strum a school like Yates, who only pulls players from all over Houston.  And a typical high school team only gets kids from their own town or district.  It's not a level playing field, but we're not getting into that again.
Now, Montverde vs SFA or a mid-major is an interesting question.  They'd be more talented and their potential is MUCH higher, but I've heard Marvin Lewis say potential gets you beat.  The difference in the body of a 21 yr old compared to a 16 yr old is huge.  The difference mentally is even more pronounced.  I'd argue that coaching would be in favor of an SFA as well.  Those prep coaches would jump at the opportunity to be a D1 coach.  How much strategy goes into beating high school teams by 50 with a team of all stars?  How much struggle and adversity?  The benefit of going to those prep schools is to practice against the best day in and day out and they serve that purpose.  I don't think Montverde would win a mid major conference though.
