  4. If you ask me, you showed them how to get their lights turned out. Great win, wish Central/Vidor and L-Town squared was a double header game, I'd like to see both, but I gotta go where my heart is, so Livingston it'll be.
  5. This actually reminds me of when Ozen was formed in Beaumont, they were considered a JV team until they got their first senior class as well, and I think they played "up" a few games before moving up too, which meant by the time they had an actual Varsity team they were pretty good at least for a couple of years.
  6. Didn't Barbay coach in Hamshire Fannet in their glory years also or was it another long time winning coach? I don't know who all his staff are but Barbay along with Hooks could easily be considered the best long time coaches (I just had a baby throw up in my mouth when I said that about Dan Ray) in the area, with Nueman also being in consideration. As far as short time coaches, thsoe with under say 5 years running their local programs, hands down to mee it is Coach Creduer and his staff.
  7. I personally think the beast has been quiet the whole preseason compared to last year, and why not, he's got nothing to prove to us who've seen him play. Take it easy get in real good shape for the district games and then let all hell break loose. Did he do nothing last Friday, hmmmmmm, it seems to me he was an important part of that, uh what was it again, 3rd and 61 or something like that. I was impressed by what the rest of the D did as well the whole game, if Mr. J.J. wasn't fast before Friday he is now because the entire Raider D had him on the run, especially that first 24 minutes.
  8. Doesn't mean it doesn't happen...the posted speed limit is 35...who drives 35? I drive 35, of course the posted speed limit on Chance Cut-Off is 30. ;D
  9. Nicely Wrote..From what i hear My Nephew told me that they've been through every snapper this week..so this should get better,,Other than that your Accurate on all points..And the Secondary Should get better these are all 1st time starters so just a few early season Jitters.. And your right..This years Defense Brings the Hat HARD ..Cant wait for the Vidor, Central Game Thats good to here...I hope Central puts it on them!! I certainly don't condone injuring players on purpose, but Central D, hit the Peerats hard enough that when L-Town plays them and makes the first hard hit they have flashbacks and get scared.
  10. One or two losses will still leave a team in okay shape in district 20-4A, but with this district, the ONLY way to take the district title by yourself is by going undefeated in district play. Too many good teams in this district, if you only lose one, chances are, it'll be against the team you tie with. Although, last year, L-Town beat Livingston and lost to Vidor who Livingston beat so we ended up tied L-Town/L-Town.
  11. Congrats. Now you're the best 1-2 team in the area and I'm not being sarcastic. One more time, watch out for these Eagles Dayton.
  12. LOL, how about that Vidor, KHS coming on and dissing your preseason schedule like that. It's probably just because KHS didn't make the cut on Vidors' preseason schedule............LMAO. ;D
  13. I was very suprised with the scoreboard myself. It only had the time and score. It doesn't show down and distance, ball on yardline, and timeouts. We had a hard time trying to get the distances for first downs to give on our broadcast. Also, we thought Silsbee had some timeouts left at the end of the game but didn't know for sure because it wasn't available on the scoreboard. Made it tough for us in the booth. Also, the clock operator wasn't the greatest. Had to reset the clock a few times last night. I'm curious, maybe I should ask my brother. Before my dad retired from officiating, part of the team was a Timekeeper I think. I know he worked a few games doing that, I guess they don't do that anymore? Any refs on the forum that can answer this and I'm not referring to the backjudge who keeps the official time but too someone who actually sits in the booth and takes care of it.
  14. LOL, I was thinking the same thing about the score board and you're right about the speakers, although I thought there were still some on that side of the field from when it was the home side, never payed attention to that. Updating the speakers would not be that expensive compared to most things, a couple grand at the most. Just raise the ones we have and focus them more on the home side and add two smaller (today's' technology will compensate for the smaller size) ones on the visitors side, wiring is easy since you only need to bury the lines a few inches under the field, the grass would be back in a couple of week and if they ran it directly under a yard line you really wouldn't notice it. I'm beginning to wonder what abyss our tax dollars and the concessions and ticket prices go to, considering we have some of the lowest paid faculty in the area, Maybe we're secretly having to supplement BISD to pay their overpayed super.....hmmmmmmmmmm ??? :
  15. Guys, you gotta admit, after the first half especially, I guarantee Jeremy Johnson will be a faster runner for the rest of the year. Our D really stepped up and came after him, that being said, the secondary does need to learn to stay with their assignment until the play ends or at least until the ball crosses the line of scrimmage. I saw them pull off their receivers when Jeremy dropped the snap and then once he recovered and got away from the initial pursuit, he hit a wide open receiver, that shouldn't have happened. Other than that, the Raiders played well I thought, looked to me like the game plan was to stay on the ground more, probably in case of rain, the passing game in the second half didn't seem to Now I have to make a correction from a comment I made earlier this week. THE SILSBEE TIGERS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN THE SILSBEE TIGERS IN MY LIFETIME, what I was remembering was that when Chance-Loebs' Senior class went to Silsbee, Chance-Loebs' team was the Yellow Jackets. I was wrong, it's not the first time I've been wrong, just ask my ex : and it probably won't be the last time I'm wrong. Finally, here are the stats as posted on I-Preps: Silsbee Lumberton Total yards 221 233 First downs 15 11 Rushes/Yds 22/-42 32/128 Average rush -1.91 4 Comp/Atts/Ints 23/36/2 5/9/1 Pass yards 263 105 Comp pct 63.89 55.56 Punts 2 4 This looks like they may have it backwards to me. Punting Yards 46 120 Punting Average 23 30 Fumbles/Lost 2/0 1/0 Penalties-yards 0-0 0-0 They need a new statistician, this is definitely wrong.
  16. "their team was mouthing off and crap like that." This must be a common thing for teams from this area, I remember LaMarque doing the same thing to Lumberton, including the fans, in the playoffs year before last. The good thing is, you guys took it to them like we did, kind of like, what goes around comes around. Good win guys. Almost forgot, that's two 20-4A teams, including scrimmage, to play TC right and TC is O-fer. ;D
  17. You know, you really gotta feel for that .5 person at Lumberton or the .48 person over at Goose Creek.
  18. I think the L-Train will keep it on the ground more tonight, other that htat it should be same result. I see Vidor and PNG benefitting from the weather too, Nederland will have to find a running game.
  19. Has anyone heard from Freddy Krueger or the veteran Norman Bates on this matter?
  20. LMAO, I was reading these posts and suddenly I got a Deja' Vu feeling from two years ago. Hang in there Vidor, once you finish strong two years in a row, you'll finally get a little respect.
  21. I got this one for you Dayton buds, here we DEFINITELY have the pot calling the kettle black. I went to dictionary.com yesterday to look up the proper definition of obnoxious and I copy and pasted what it says: ob⋅nox⋅ious  /əbˈnɒkʃəs/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [uhb-nok-shuhs] 1. to be like FriendswoodFan. 2. highly objectionable or offensive; odious: obnoxious behavior. 3. annoying or objectionable due to being a showoff or attracting undue attention to oneself: an obnoxious little brat. 4. Archaic. exposed or liable to harm, evil, or anything objectionable. 5. Obsolete. liable to punishment or censure; reprehensible. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Origin: 1575–85; < L obnoxiōsus harmful, equiv. to ob- ob- + noxiōsus noxious : ;D
  22. The thing about getting stats off of the newspaper websites is that they will always be different. I have found that I cannot trust those numbers. I have kept stats for both Silsbee games this year and have matched them with the coaching staffs and our numbers for the Tigers have not been the same as the ones you will find in the Enterprise or Chronicle. Amen to that, look at I-Preps as an example. The L-Town/BH game looking through the Lumberton link gave their quarterback like 17 yards, and those of who were there knew better than that. That kid ran at least 50 or more yards and he was their leading rusher. Funny thing is, the day after the game if you looked through each teams links you saw very different rushing numbers for Viverette and yet today they now match. LOL
  23. Who are the Yellow Jackets ??? ??? Look back about 45 years and you'll see that the Silsbee team used to be the Yellow Jackets, they didn't change their name to the Tigers until the after the seniors from Chance-Loeb, now Lumberton, started going through their senior year in L-Town. Oh, I just remembered something, who decided this contest would be called the Village Creek Classic anyway. It used to be called the Village Creek Shootout when we played regular.
  24. You must be kidding me! BH will not finish #2 in 19-4A. I was there on friday and BH could not defend the Sisters of Charity. Take off the "Mecca" shades and be for real. You guys will struggle to finish #4 at best. What is your order of finish for 19-4A? Before the season I would complete agree with your assesment , but things are changing ;D Lumberton was the district co champ of their district last year, so it's not like they are GCM or nothing ;D I though Crosby would be #2 but after Ennis (I know they are a great team) put in the the cheerleaders after the half because they were tired of scoring and then PNG (BH lost by1) put a Golden Triangle Arse whoopin on them I can see Crosby at the four spot. CE King still looks good ,but not unbeatable! BH at #2 is not a strech at this point with or without the shades. Top four as I see um. 1.) Dayton (Duh!) 2.) C.E King (Could be 3) 3.) BH (Could be 2) 4.) Crosby (Maybe) BHFan, I agree with your assessment. How is North Forest this year? We had more trouble with them last year, than King. I believe once we get a couple of wins, we will be a pretty tough team. I think we are playing a little tight right now. Actually, and I don't know anything about C.E.King, I see BH as taking at least the number two spot AND if anyone can actually take it to Dayton, this may be the team. They may be 0 for everything going in to district, but I don't see more than 2 losses tops in district. Good Luck and I'm warning you now Dayton, watch out for these Eagles.
