  1. You might also thank the Friday Night Smack Attack. I'm not sure about anyone else, but them canceling that show last year because of the hurricane was directly responsible for my joining......gotta have my smack. ;D
  2. Not no but HELL NO!!!! The imperfections are what makes High School Football king of the world.
  3. that should be the game of the week. Personally, I think Central will move up after that game and Memorial will move down.
  4. District Rules. Each district does it differently. I would think that this is actually a UIL rule since the playoffs start the week after the season ends, otherwise playoffs would have to wait another week which would give sole district champs the advantage of having an extra week of practice.
  5. I've sat here just reading this topoc and one thing did hit me. First of all, I'm not a huge fan of L-Towns preseason schedule and hope next year will bring a tougher schedule. That being said though, you gotta remember, sometimes maybe your team is the tougher team that the opponenet scheduled. :
  6. Troy Carpenter will be moving from a receiver position to guard, not sure which side. According to what he told me, although they won't be as big as last year they will be much faster.
  7. LOL, no sweat. That's what makes us FANatics. ;D
  8. Man I like seeing this. Last year you could see he had a great arm, but he just wasn't consistent. With him getting more comfortable, we definitely should have a more open game and with the RyanExpress being added as the feature running back this oughta be a high scoring team. LOL, the backfield is gonna sound like a legal firm.... Ryan and Ryan .
  9. No doubt, [move]HIJACKED THREAD ALERT!!!!![/move] LOL, I like that Bronc. I'm really not sure how we got off in the first place.
  10. WTB, I've decided you aren't going to be happy with anything I say. I tell you what, I'm going to concede to your great wisdom since you know everything about everything, you are right, you are right, you are right. Now are you going to argue about that too? I have my opinions and you have yours, thankfully I know who's right.
  11. Excellent points HDCats, I was just simply trying to show oldtimer that he was way off base with his assessment of Vidor's facilities that also include a fairly new scoreboard. Actually, my assessment was based on just the stands and the parking. I'm not real concerned with the restrooms or concessions as long as they are clean.
  12. The first...no the last....uh wait, the first.no no no the last.........aw heck with it, I can't ait until ALL of them come up. ;D
  13. WTB, first of all, HUH? You just gave yourself knowledge or lack thereof away my friend. Let me, as someone who was born in Beaumont and raised in Chance-Loeb/Lumberton (just to let you know how far back I go). Number 1. The High School and the field house in question were built in 1979, granted that qualifies as "the seventies" but barely and as I said the FH does need replaced for sure. Number two the baseball field, I mean what do you want, a brick and mortar facility? Number three, I guarantee you, if PART of the basketball stadium (otherwise known as basketball GYM by us folks not in LaLa land) were condemned, then the whole dang thing would be condemned along with the school considering they are attached. One more thing, although I haven't found the exact breakdown yet, the recently proposed bond which was in two parts was closer to 28 million, the 6.5 million part being for the construction of the new fine arts center, which , sorry "Big Daddy Ross", couldn't be justified and probably would have lost even if the rest of the measure passed. I suspect that was the main reason it was separated out into a "Proposal Two". Frankly, I think maybe the voters in Lumberton ought to look at who was on the school board back when the current high school was built. If memory serves me, one thing I remember after getting out of the Army was that people were bragging about how the High School had been built without any bonds needing to be issued, now I'm not certain if that's true or not but the recent board, which included members I consider friends, apparently haven't been very fiscally responsible.
  14. WTB, I'm assuming from the sound of it the you live here in Lumberton, our facilities, at least the field stadium and parking far exceed what some schools have. I mean look at Vidor for pete's sake, a former 5-A school and they have one of the worst stadiums in the area IMO, no offense to the good Vidor folks. Also, unless they've gotten a new stadium in the last 2 years, you'll see that Livingston's is no bed of roses either.. Our place isn't perfect by far but we have it better than alot. I would love to see a new stadium, but, ONLY if they leave a walkway in front of the stands so some of us old farts can continue walking up and down the field with the team like we currently do. No other stadium in the area has that kind of fan access. Now as far as the field house, now that's an entirely different matter, that we need desperately.
  15. If I'm not mistaken, Lumberton played New Caney in 2007 in the place of H-F.
  16. I'm kind of with you on this Razor, maybe the coach agreed on at least a two year run. As far as a blow out, I'm starting to believe that Coach Creduer won't let the team run up points on opponents, there are games I've seen over the last couple of years where L-Town should've and could've easily broke the 50 point mark but instead the coach puts in the 3rd and 4th string guys and gets them experience. Great thing for the guys who don't start though especially when crunch time comes around. L-Town 35 H-F under 14.
  17. Seems to me like Lumberton's would be a toss-up between Tony Eckert and Chad Lutrell. Both of them had good arms.
  18. little indian is back, disquised as a dog. LOL....yeah I noticed someone let the Dog out again, it was running down the street with its' tail tucked between its's legs.......lol
  19. Not this year! Talk is SO cheap! : It's never happened and it won't this yr. either. PNGProud andBigdog must've blanked out last year since PNG and Nederlands credit were both denied by L-Town. The one team Lumberton does seem to own in general be it good years or bad is the other L-town in the district......Livingston. Only team we truly have a winning record against.
  20. Now this is one time I'm for sure behind Dayton all they way, I hope the Broncs just open a huge can of whoop-A on the wood.
  21. Talked to one of our linemen yesterday at church. He says they are a little smaller than last year but much faster, the ball will be aired out a little more and he assured me that Ryan's accuracy and poise will be much better now that he has experience under his belt. That was great news to me because you could see he could throw and had a strong arm, just wasn't consistent. Look for L-Town to open it up this year with a slightly different game.
  22. If Hughes can get his passing game going, L-Town will open up alot of eyes. Ryan Asher should be a really respctable runner from the backfield, just like Hanna year before last behind Hussey, Ash actually had good numbers for the amount of carries he had. The O-line, not sure as I haven't seen the new guys play.
  23. I remember a few of them spankings we gave them. ;D Shoot, L-Town is so used to having been spanked in the past, a little whoopin' don't hardly bother them butts anymore......... ;D
  24. On a player for player comparison, the 1A or 2A school could definitely be better than a Westbrook. The problem is, if the 1A/2A team were to play that 5A school in a sport like football substituion wise the 5A school probably wouldn't be half way through it's second string while the smaller schools players would be going both ways getting worn down. Plus the fact that if your team has 50 players versus 25 players, chances are you are going to match up really well.
