  1. Copied this off of the Scrimmage Schedule forum, can't guarantee whether it's right or wrong. Aug. 15 Cleveland 7pm Aug. Pasadena Memorial Crosby Aug. 21 @ Texas City 7pm Dayton Aug. 15 @ WO-S Aug. Lumberton Central Aug. 22 @ LaMarque Ozen Aug. 21 Nacogdoches LC-M Aug. 15 Texas City at Crosby 7pm Aug. 22 Silsbee Aug. Baytown Lee Livingston ? ? Lumberton Aug. 15 Bridge City Aug. @ Dayton
  2. Place is in Dayon, it's bound to be around the 21st of August since the frist scrimmage is on the 15th.
  3. Yeah, prayers to the young mans family. From the sound of the article it seems like another friends death in the military really effected this young man.
  4. One program that's a definite huge waste of money. They need to make schools assign a complaince officer not connected with the athletics department and if they suspect somethin then have several players take the test instead of totally random.
  5. That statement right there, if it's is truly accurate, will be what makes the most difference in how PNG does this year.
  6. Ned, i just hope you are a parent and not an offensive player, if by chance you are a player, when you guys come to Lumberton...........let's just say, ice it down and the swelling will eventually go away, because the hitting is gonna be hard hard hard. OK don't count us out just yet i am a player and we have been working defense since we ended last season because of the softness in past years all I'm saying is that don't count us out were coming to knock some heads off and I have played on both sides the "L-train" doesn't hit that hard That's actually good news, as much as I want Lumberton to succeed, with the offensive outputs you guys in Nederland have been capable of, a really strong defense could put you guys in league with the likes of Dayton, Friendswood or even the Austin teams that are so strong.
  7. There ya go, Good, I think you picked it right defensively. Nederland, unless they've much improved their defense or they have another Grogan coming through the program is I'm afraid is gonna have some problems with the strong defensive teams this year and personally I think Lumberton will have the top defense this year although Vidor could take that honor. As far as trash talking, I'm not a player or a parent of a player but I don't see my talk as being any worse really than Neds flat out assertion of "It won't be Lumberton".
  8. Ned, i just hope you are a parent and not an offensive player, if by chance you are a player, when you guys come to Lumberton...........let's just say, ice it down and the swelling will eventually go away, because the hitting is gonna be hard hard hard.
  9. The first winning season was the first year the team benefited from the Lumberton Youth Football programs. Now we are like most others and start them out at 5 years old playing flag........ P.S.........Gonna rock this year Actually to correct that, the first of the recent winning seasons was actually the second year the team benefited from the LYF programs. If you remember three years ago the talk was how well we were gonna do for that exact reason and that first year turned out to be a bomb compared to the last two.
  10. Don't see all three Baytown or Humble schools going to 4A, but I might be wrong. I think we'll lose Livingston and add Dayton and/or BH in 20-4A Central Ozen Lumberton Vidor LCM PNG Nederland Dayton BH With the UIL, we could end up with Stephenville, Austin Westlake and Pampa in our district.
  11. I just have to say, if this were a horse race all I would bet on would be place or show. ;D
  12. Look, it's not about hating on them. Usually hated teams are teams that have a traditon of winning. Vidor has nothing to hate on in my eyes right now. It's all about reality. Your team could not make the playoffs last year in a somewhat weakened district with 4 playoff spots. You guys are saying you are proud of your effort last year. That may well be, but that pride will not get you into the playoffs. You have a lot of returning starters from a team that, when you think about it, accomplished nothing. What should lead us to believe that you will make the playoffs this year. I for one, having seen PNG's changes, know that the district is going to be tougher this year. Yes, you may be tougher, bringing back so many, but IMO, with the rise of the district, you will still be the odd man out. Sorry. Again, no hate intended, just reality. Geez, Laying, have you read the blogs during the season the last 2 years or is L-Town an exception to the rule? We've caught hell for winning and yet most people don't figure we had a "tradition of winning". Also, this "weakened district" attitude, is that because PNG lost out last year or would you happen to have an alternate ego by the name of FriendswoodFan? You sound just like him. I don't see the other teams fans saying we had a weakened district so I was just wondering.
  13. #88 huh, my only hope is that if he is a really good wide receiver, I hope beyond all hop that Ryan has gotten better at passing. I love our grind it out offense, but it wouldmake things a litte easier if our passing could be more consistent, doesn't have to be great just consistent.
  14. Unfortunately for Livingston, they have long drives no matter which district they are in.
  15. The question from what I see now should have been more specific, maybe "Are Football Fans An Important Part Of A Winning Team?" with this open ended question you put up you left alot of avenues open.
  16. Fans are extremely important on many many levels. The first being that without fans, a sport doesn't generate revenue, no revenue e ventually means no team, think Lamar Football. Secondly how many times have you seen a really excited fan base generate excitement and some extra effort from a player of any sport, the best teams always have a good fan base, two exceptions I can think of, the Texas Wildcatters (final season) and the SE Texas Mustangs/Mavericks whatever the local semi-pro b-ball team is called. Back to my first point, the Texas Wildcatters are gone because..........?
  17. I know it's a scrimmage, but I hope Central smokes LaMarque's butt. It sure was nice to beat them when we did with all of their cocky attitudes, kind of like karma.
  18. Personally I think ALL stadiums should have a sidewalk in front of the stands like L-Town, that way all of us old farts can walk up and down the sidelines during the game and "coach" the team...........lol.
  19. Yeah, you would think a school that used to be 5-a would have better parking access and facilities. here you go AGAIN!!!! dawging on vidor. what is your problem with vidor? No problem with the team, just the parking. I'm still smarting from the parking ticket I got 3 years ago. ;D
  20. Coach R has done a great job and can remember when he first came there. They have come a long and wish them continued success. LOL..wasn't really meaning to stir, I mean if you really look at it, both L-Towns (coincidence?) have been kind of alike through the years. You guys had the fortune of actually being in playoffs before though unlike us. Othr than that, our two teams have had some terrible luck in football and fortunately we've landed coaches who are really making a difference both in the teams and I assume in the fans attitude. One thing Lumberton has had good fortune in the past though is there has always seemed to be a great fan base win or lose, probably because until the last few years there has never been much more to do in town.
  21. Big I kind of agree that Ryan will be a pleasant sruprise for those who didn't pay attention last year, but this year I think AB is gonna make the biggest difference on our team, for one thing with signing day being an important event for him this year you can bet he will be going full throttle and bashing some backfielders heads. At any rate, I think we are still gonna be loaded with real talent.
  22. I just had a better idea then my last ;D. Check this out, schedule practice and scrimmages from June 1st to the end of August. The make the season from September until April with playoffs in May and as far as the other sports, play them during half time of the football games ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D. LOL
  23. Yeah, you would think a school that used to be 5-a would have better parking access and facilities.
  24. Actually Matt, from what I've seen, Nederland usually schedules pretty tough preseason games, teams like LaMarque and others. I wish sometimes L-Town would do that, different coaching philosophies I guess. You are right though, BigNeds D's haven't been what they should be to make a deep playoff run and until they do get a tough D going on it's not going to matter how well the offensive unit or quarterback does, defense wins the big games. Look at last years Lumberton/Nederland game as evidence, L-town 's D shut down the offense and then ran over Ned's D in a big way. I forgot to answer the question though, will Nederland ever go deep again, sure they will.
