  1. The best thing about this game Friday, if we are blowing out the Eagles say by mid 3rd quarter............it's only a hop skip and a jump down 146 to go see the Broncs. :
  2. LOL, real funny, I don't see anyone beating L-Town by 40 right now, maybe in the past but not now. Although there's a chance we may lose sometime in the playoffs, BH goes down in this one by at least one touchdown maybe two.
  3. Personally, I don't know if I'll ever get used to seeing L-Town actually ranked, let alone in the top 25.
  4. Uh, ryker, first of all, this is just the second year for Livingston to be in 20-4A. Last year, their first year in 20-4A, they were district co-champs with Lumberton. I suggest you do a little more research next time. I think Rykers assumption was that Livingston has played the golden triangle teams quite a few times in the past, when there were two 4-A districts here I remember them being in the same one with us, not to worry though, I'm going to step out on a limb here because I don't remember exactly what the record was, but Livingston is the only team L-Town plays that we have an overall winning record against. :
  5. West Brook @ Central - good luck fer sure. Jasper @ Kirbyville Ozen @ Memorial Bridge City @ Kountze Crosby @ Port Neches Groves East Chambers @ Newton Danbury @ Anahuac Evadale @ Deweyville Friendswood @ Dayton - sorry Dayton buds but gotta go with history, make me wrong though, I can afford the hit on the pick-ems. Liberty @ Hamshire Fannett Lumberton @ Barbers Hill Silsbee @ Diboll Vidor @ Houston ST Thomas West Orange @ Little Cypress Mauriceville West Sabine @ Hemphill Woodville @ Hardin Jefferson Trinity @ Warren San Augustine @ Arp Tarkington @ Hardin Bellville @ Livingston I removed the colorized Lumberton and made it normal for you.
  6. I think what Jack was trying to get across was that we were very lucky to get such a quality coach without the school board messing it up. Not that these other men aren't talented in some ways, think back to all the hype each time we got a new HC and we've had alot. Remember, the coach who took Blinn to nationals and the hype when he came in, or the coach who was a quarterback for the New York Jets(?) I think he was the second former pro ball player we had. As I said these men have their talents but bringing a bunch of boys together without the benefit of recruiting and giving scholarships in at least one case was not one. I also remember in the past, L-Towns' school board passing up a coach because he'd never been a head coach, that coach went to Hardin I believe it was the next year and took them into the playoffs. I'll never say the men and women on the school boards in this area are terrible but sometimes politics cloads their judgement. Just my humble opinion.
  7. I'm probably going to lose a point on the Ryker pick 'em, but I think this week I'm going to go with district 20-4A. I'm calling Central the winner.
  8. I'll second that 1 ;D I'll take it too. Now this week is gonna be a tough choice between Central and West Brook. You can't read WB's skill level against a team like Ozen and although PAM is a decent team, they've never really shined IMO, not to take anything from Central because we KNOW they are, same with WB.
  9. Soulja is throwing down the smack huh =P, all right, we'll see very soon. Good game Jags btw. Lumberton looked good all around on the first string, not alot of mistakes and first game jitters like last year. The second/third team offense needs to worl on moving the ball better to give us some depth and the second/third string D needs to tighten up too, did a decent job but could have been better. The good thing is like in the last couple of years, these guys are well conditioned and will stay in any game out there. It's gonna be goooooooooood. ;D
  10. Actually if the offense is as intricate as it's made out to be, each week it'll get a little more complicated. Which means, :'( , by the time L-Town gets them we'll have to face probably everything they are going to throw at teams. Once again... another "fan" of Barbers Hill feeling the need to bash other local schools while making themselves look foolish. What a shame, but fortunately.... most of the true Barbers Hill Eagles are a classy bunch of folks that support their team. Best of luck to the Eagles in the rest of the season! BTW last time I checked.... quarter had an "R" in it.
  11. We'll I'm thinking bobo meant the WOS kids would be better in Baseball, because they usually play pretty darn good football and have an awesome track team. Anyway, sorry to hear about the injury to young Mr' Bellow. Hopefully he'll be taken care of very quickly and get back to 100% before baseball starts back up. As for Nederland, it seems to me, a couple of years ago an outstanding senior QB was injured in a season ending injury in the first or second game when a sophomore stepped in and took the area by storm basically. Wasn't that kids' name something like Bellow? Good luck on your repair and rehab if it's needed Kirby and good luck Dawgs'
  12. Wow, the boards must have been hammered last night, I couldn't even get on them at midnight.
  13. I still think you are the best sports writer in Southeast Texas, no mater how BLAnTANT your mistakes are......... ;D Broncs will be running wild this weekend while the Raiders will be riding Longhorns to the goal line.
  14. I agree with you. It appears that each team in the GT has made some good changes. I haven't heard much about Livingston, but 20-4A will be a very tough district this year. Whoever makes this playoffs will be battle tested and have a lot to be proud of. I seems that Livingsoto gets left out of these discussions. I am sure they have internet up in Livingston right? ;D Haven't heard much from up there. Any idea how they looked in their scrimmages? Pirate, I'm going to give you the same explanation a girl at a beeper company told one of our drivers back in the late 90's before cells got really popular. The problem with Livingston getting this part of the internet up there is because of the trees, they keep blocking the signal unless the computer user moves their computer into a more open area, they won't get a complete signal. "Believe it or not, that was a real explanation given to the guy because he lived in Lumberton..." LMAO
  15. Anyoe know if KLVI will have the Smack Attack come back this year, I luvs my midnight smack after a good game. ;D
  16. My understanding is that the fourth playoff team was added because the first place team got a natural advantage by getting an extra week to rest while the rest played, with 2 divisions per classification it makes sense, also, money was another factor as it was with the divisional split. Now with what they are trying in 1-a, if they move that through the classifications then effectively you'll actually have 10 classifications, WAY too many in my opinion.
  17. Because in the eyes of the UIL they tied with equal records, but we all know who won head to head. Actually.... there "could have been" a "secret" meeting where the rules where changed after the fact enabling Lumberton to crown itself as district champs. Just like the year before, Lumberton was the CO-district champ for 2008, playoff wise we were first place because we beat the other Co-champ, same as year before when we were seeded ahead of Dayton in division II. That's okay, this year we're gonna get greedy and not share.....LOL
  18. Easiest way is to go to original post, copy, then paste into your own post, highlight the team you select and press the B button. By the way, maybe Ryker's picks should be pinned to the top of the forum and just updated each week for easier access.
  19. Here you go, I fixed it for you. Thanks for the fix TVC, I repaired your mistake for you............. ;D As of this post, 19 hrs 6 minutes until kick off.
  20. Looks to me like Warrior will be outside of Indian stadium scalping tickets. =P As for me, Raider Stadium watching a case of major whoop-A.
  21. I'm pulling for L-Town to be number one and in my opinion, Nederland will get left out this year thanks to a stronger PNG. Also, I'm expecting LCM to sneak up on somebody (hopefully not L-Town) and shock the living HE double toothpicks out of them.
  22. Dang Ryker, couldn't you have given Hamshire Fannett or Kelly at least an honorary 1 percentage point? It's gonna be mighty embarassing for Veederville if the lose. : BOOM!! The First Salvo Has Been Fired!!! ;D
