  1. Lord knows they need help everyplace...... What do ya'll know about the kid the Rangers drafted with their #1 pick. A southpaw out of Klein HS.
  2. This scares me every graduation weekend. I know Project Graduation is to keep kids from going out and getting drunk, but our local school gave the kids $100 to stay all night long. All it does is give the kids alcohol money for Saturday night. I wish they would not give money, but instead give the kids gift cards to places that don't sell beer.
  3. I do not know how Lamar would not give the contract to KLVI. Good call LU. Trust me, there won't be any "giving" of a contract. What ever radio station that gets the contract, will have earned($$$$) it. Lamar will go with the highest bidder. I know there us no "giving" especially in this day of "got to make a dollar."
  4. I do not know how Lamar would not give the contract to KLVI. Good call LU.
  5. I hate to say it, but at this point, I would trade anyone including Lance, Roy, Carlos, Hunter. We are going to have to start over and right now, we have nothing. Trade as many as you can for prospects. If you were a star player and their was a chance at a title with another ball club, or stay in Houston and languish, I would think go for the ring.
  6. Here is the problem with 97.5. They do not go past Buna to the North. Kirbyville, Jasper, etc will be in the dark......Heck you can't hardly hear it past Deweyville going North on Hwy 87. ( I am glad I have XM in my truck.) Here is the FCC's service area for KFNC " The Ticket." [Hidden Content]
  7. I would like to see him too....If he had just a bit more coaching experience.....
  8. The Chiba Lotte Marines are not going to pay him wants, so it looks like he will be available. But they love him in Japan, so he might wind up with another Japanese team.
  9. Yeah, Cruz doesn't need to be thrown to the wolves.......If we lose 2 out of 3 to the Pirates this weekend, something has to be done....Would Larry Dierker come back? Would his health allow it? Maybe interim? Maybe Bobby V in the future?
  10. They really need to pick a station with some broadcast "range." There are good number of Lamar grads in the Houston area.
  11. I don't know, it just seems like Houston is going to get behind before they even get started this year. I hate to say it, but I found myself giving up hope yesterday and switching the channel... I write this as we go to from a 4-4 tie to being behind 6-4..... :-\
  12. I worked in Dayton ISD back in the late 1980s. They never thought of themselves as part of the Beaumont-Pt Arthur area. They always saw themselves as Liberty County, and hated people like C.E. King.
  13. I know this is a year and a half away, but does anyone know who is going to be the " Flagship" of Lamar University football? The good old standby, 560 KLVI? I would like to see Dave Hofferth call the games.
  14. I have to agree on this one. There are several teams I like my school to beat, but I really don't "hate" them. There are some good folks in those towns.
  15. No one in the poll............... $15 for a ticket to see Katy? What in the heck are they trying to buy???? :-\
  16. Nederland teachers make about $5000 a year more than I do, once again we would kill for another $5000. We are at pretty much state pay. ( The way you keep paying teachers past 20 years would give me an additional $9000 a year.) Nederland has about 300 teachers, so if they really want to repair the buildings, take the additional $5000 away until they can pass a new bond. 300x5000= $1,500,000. That could fix some schools.... YOu call yourself a teacher?? I'm glad you don't teach my kids with that assanine statement. What? Give up pay for the good of the school district? I understand it is not enough money to fix the district, but it would go along way to help patch until you can pass a bond.... Folks in Nederland, I do not think you understand, until you see what I am teaching in, your district is a Taj Mahal....My flag still has 48 stars....Literally.... The Taj Mahal is due to the people, not the facilities. It's time the facilities match the people. Not really, I am thrilled I don't have to teach Nederland kids, or put up with their parents. I was offered a position in NISD about 20 years ago and I am SO glad I didn't take it. I love my kids, I think I have the best in the area. And what seems to be your problem with the kids and parents in NISD ?? (and how is this relative to the bond issue ?) Hey, it was someone else who brought up the people of NISD. I just do not want to deal with NISD patrons. And as I look back, I am so glad I am where I am. \ We don't care You just proved my point....
  17. I have a certificate that even Nederland would hire me today. I chose to be where I am. Was not meant to be snide. Once again, reading this entire post about the bond and the attacks on Smitty by NISD people, I am SO glad I am not there..... ;D

  19. Has nothing to do with teachers, or portable buildings, or programs......As I have said in the past, I teach in a school district that really needs some new buildings, computers newer than 10 years old, a decent library, a new cafeteria, our teachers would kill for the salaries NISD teachers get, heck in the winter, my heater may or may not work.....Guess what, our TAKS scores are going to be very close to yours, all my kids are going to say "Yes Sir " and Yes Ma'am." My college bound kids are going to do just as well as yours, they are going to Baylor, and A&M, and Texas and Rice. And are doing well. Quit griping about you need new schools in a recession. You made an interesting recommendation to Nederland to reduce salaries to pay for facility improvements. Good Idea? Maybe you can recommend the same thing to your district to address the facility needs you listed at your school. While your at it you can get some new flags. ;D I am at state base now....I can't get any lower. :

  23. Not shocked, we in Nederland Saturday morning I was amazed at the number of vote "No" yard signs. Be careful folks who want to restructure and go at it again. The percentage is against a new bond anytime soon.
