  1. $120? That will price a bunch of people out of the season tickets. $240 for two season tickets. I think I'll go general admission, if there is such a thing, if not, I won't go. If the economy gets worse, places like PNG, Nederland, and other 4A schools will outdraw the Cards on simple choices. Do I go see my Indians/ Bulldogs/ etc. or Lamar?
  2. He was SID for a long time at Lamar.....I am sure he had to get out of the Enterprise. Saw the demise coming, and "really" wasn't ready to retire. He'll do a good job.
  3. This has just upset me greatly. It has really got me all stirred up. > The district knew this was coming and waited until the last minute to lay these people off. Like I said, they could have given the coaches, teachers, etc. a heads up earlier so they could start looking for a new position.....Folks, pray for these school folks that they find another job. At this late date, it might be nearly impossible.
  4. Man, I am hoping that somehow this is a rumor..... >
  5. They let go 375 teachers in Dallas ISD last October. If they have a financial emergency, they can get rid of teachers/coaches however they want.
  6. Are they local? You know, teaching/coaching is not like other jobs, there is only the summer window in which one can find a job in their field. Because of contract restraints to avoid losing their certification, teachers have to make the year. You are not going to find a teaching job in November or March, maybe in January if someone retires at semester. But rarely. I blame administrators for not giving the coaches the "heads-up" that you might be losing your job back in the spring. The front office knows the money situation and then in the end, RIF these people. You can rest assure, there were no administrators RIFed.
  7. I never was in the building past dark...I'll bet they are plenty spooky....
  8. There is plenty of parking, but you may have to walk from old Brooks-Shivers Hall....When I was in college, I remember walking from the Maes Building tothe Cardinal Stadium for marching band practice and it was closer than walking to the old marching practice field behind the women's gym. I wonder how much of a hump it will be now that I am in my "older" years? I am showing my age now.....Is there still a women's gym near the biology building? Are there still animals on the walls in the biology building?
  9. I have got to agree.....I believe everyone should receive as much education as possible.
  10. Kirbyville will move back up to 3-A because they have 452 people enrolled there now and the top number for 2-A is 429 Man, Kirbyville is growing.....It is like they and Lumberton who are actually having a good increase in their school census. Are there any other schools growing a great deal in the area? Orangefield? Silsbee? LCM?
  11. I know it had to go....But it still is sort of sad......It was the field house when I was at Lamar in the 70s. :-\
  12. Don't see all three Baytown or Humble schools going to 4A, but I might be wrong. I think we'll lose Livingston and add Dayton and/or BH in 20-4A Central Ozen Lumberton Vidor LCM PNG Nederland Dayton BH With the UIL, we could end up with Stephenville, Austin Westlake and Pampa in our district. I remember the folks at Buna speaking with amazement when they were 3A having to drive through Tarkington and Cleveland, both 3A schools not in their district to get to Coldspring and Sheppard, who were. You are right, it could happen....
  13. | I wonder what the process would be to start a law school? Offering a Bachelor's and Master's of Public Administration downtown would also be another good choice.
  14. It would really be good if they offered an MBA downtown.
  15. Ya right. ??? Lets see some numbers. It's just the stepping stone to UT. be nice now mr mod. 8) Nothing personal now... just get a little defensive sometimes when talking my Cardinals. That's all. You know, I hate people in this area who bad mouth LU. Get out of this area and people respect Lamar grads. What is wrong with this area? Are people jealous?
  16. 27,000 students at TX State 28,000 students at UTSA 13,000 students at Lamar School census makes a big difference.
  17. It must be pretty bad if the man has been in the hospital for two nights.
  18. Thanks, I hope all the other dads had a good one too.....I had one of my faves, gumbo. ;D
  19. It is not just football kids, it is was the band kids. I remember in the 70s the high school bands marching from 9-11am and then 2-4pm in August. The kids have gotten soft. :'(
  20. I always eat before or after the game..... $4 for a bottle of Dasani water( You can get a case for $3.99 at the store.) $4.25 for a bag of peanuts $5.50 for a large coke I can't afford to eat or drink at the game. I remember bringing food into the Oilers games at the 'Dome.
  21. I have seen 9th grade teams win district, then 3 years later as seniors come-in 4th with the same kids. There are a number of factors. The other teams kids have gotten bigger and faster. Districts add and subtract schools. Sometimes desire changes with these kids. If there is a coaching change, there maybe a change on the field.
  22. Good move by Texas, they have a good ball club and manager who knows what he is doing.....No if the OTHER Texas team would do SOMETHING with their skipper..... :-\
