1.
I agree with what all of you have said.  I have found myself not paying attention much to the Astros this season.  I was checking scores the first few games.  Then they went on the West Coast road trip and started finishing games at 12:30-1 o'clock in the morning.  Even if they did have the games on TV, I don't know how many fans are going to stay up that late for AL West road games.  At least Crane got $50 mil for moving the team West.  Also I don't hate the A's, Mariners, and Angels yet so maybe that has something to do with it.  I still hope the Cards, Cubs, and Reds lose every game though.
After I made the original post, I found myself watching things other than baseball. I will catch a college game from time to time, but the weather has been so nice, I've been out and about.
 2. I seriously thought I would miss the Astros on TV, but we have the Rangers, and so much other baseball on TV, I don't miss the 'Stros....do you think them not being on TV will eventually hurt their regional fan base?
 3. I am just not excited about the Astros, now or in the future. If and it is a big if, the prospects turn out to be good players, will we become the next Kansas City? Never quite in the running....
 4.
you want em to close down the program again? get out and support the team..you can boo rayray from your seat
Well, if they are just going to run around and be 3-9, 4-8, and that is okay with the community, it starts to make you wonder if mediocrity is okay?
 5.

I am shocked at Coach not blaming the fans for his team not winning last night ???....Seriously, is there any hope for next year? Or should I just not even waste my time? Will we be 4-8 or 5-7 next year with wins over 3 Division III schools and the 4th over a NAIA school?  :(
i would still support the program by going to the games...i support lamar cause they are my alma mater...so for me, supporting them is never a waste of time...but with that being said just because i go to all the games doesnt mean im happy with what i see on the field...rayray should be on the hotseat every week next year.
WOS95, for the last 10 years I taught school, we were told that schools need to run more like a business. Part of Lamar' "business" is the football program and it is not at this time a product that deserves support. I too am a Lamar grad, and I was glade to see football return, but at some people you have to ask, " are we going to get any better?"

 7. Who from Buna signed with Lamar? ( That's the rumor.)
 8. Why should I spend my money to see Lamar beat on teams like Langston or McMurray? Calling out fans to see an inferior product is not a good move Coach. In the business world, if your product stinks and people stop visiting your store, you go out of business. Three years is enough time to see some improvement Coach, and I see none.
 9. The station just came back on...they were in a weather delay...
 10.
Oh so Its a political thing! ::) Always.
You've never worked in a school district have you?  :o
 11. So....do they hope he kills the program again????
 12.
If I remember right Woodard has a potential bonus tied to attendance.  I believe that may have been what drove him to make that comstore ment.
If this is true, wow, just wow...... :-\ :-\ :-\

Let's take UTSA for example. UTSA punched New Mexico State in the face 35-14 today and are 5-0. -UTSA appeals to the community, Lamar doesn't. -UTSA knew from the start that they were going to play FBS football, Lamar designed itself for FCS. -UTSA is looking nowhere but up. Lamar is content with staying put. -UTSA is easily outrecruiting Lamar. UTSA started playing football a year after Lamar and I can bet that they would blow out the Cardinals. At the same time however, if Lamar isn't prepared for FBS, then there is no point of moving up.
UTSA's 5 opponents have a total of 2 wins..I dont see them winning another game this year....not saying LU doesnt stink ..just pointing that out also, i think LU is doing a good job in trying to get people to the stadium..promos, kid friendly, family friendly.... i think one major point UNLV is missing in his analysis of setex mentality...and the one i have the biggest problem with...ITS OUR HOMETOWN COLLEGE! support it! take off those 30 yr old letter jackets , those walmart maroon / orange Tshirts ..heck...i doubt most of the LU bashers have never even been to anything at LU
I have been critical of Lamar for years. I questioned bringing back football.I knew the people would go "nuts" for the program for the first 1-2 years and then, it would depend on the product. The product is awful. If we beat anyone other than McMurry, it''l be a miracle. Say what you will, the coaching choice was poor. He had his chance, he has blown it. When Coach came out with the interview before the Hawaii game wearing the Hawaiian shirt, the music, the pseudo-drink, you knew they were not serious about the business of the game. It was just a vacation. I see no urgency, I see no improvement. If you're going to take for granted your fan base, we'll take you for granted.  Can I be critical of Lamar? My Mother graduated from Lamar, my brother graduated from Lamar, my wife graduated from Lamar, my child graduated from Lamar, and I graduated from Lamar. Don't get me started on Lamar. Don't go down that trail....Even though Dr Simmons has done a good job in the last few years with the place, it still has "more problems than a run over dog."
As a Lamar graduate, in which class did you pick up that catchy little ending phrase? ;D
Sorry, I taught in a AA school too long.  ;D
 14.
I cant believe he said that.
I can't either. We ( Lamar) are stinking the place up, so let's blame the fans for our poor performance. I believe Coach Woodard is in trouble and he knows it.  Maybe the position is beyond his abilities and he is just hoping to take a little heat off himself. But blame the fans for lack of attendance? If that's the case, whoever is in charge ( AD, College President, someone) needs to call him into the office for a "discussion."

 16. Not good.....never blame your customers. Maybe the crowd has something to do with the product?
 17. Chargois was asked by more than one person is my understanding....who is unclear....Have heard from 3 different people with 3 different stories. All made sense. ( Could be a mixture of all 3 stories?)
