There is a member of the regents who likes him and one of the committee members is Dr T. Chargois, the new BISD Supt of Schools.
I'm impressed with your knowledge of the "connections" down there in Beaumont - but this IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. >:(
Don't be ugly Tigervoice. Just telling you what I know. Dr Thomas was brought up as possible President at TSTU meeting in August. And I DON'T want him as President of Lamar.
8)Cool - I'm with you on that.  Sorry about the over reaction.  If this even gets any movement I'm coming out of retirement and getting into the politics of the thing.
It's ok TV, I blew my gasket when I found out in August, I am sort of surprised the media is just now finding out...

 5. They are cancelling mail service and have a curfew tonight in Lafayette, but ULL still plans on football against Lamar on Saturday.
 6. ULL is closed through Thursday....however as I write this, it looks like the storm is stuck over Houma.  Makes you wonder if they will play.
 7. It can't be the teaching thing....I have never taught in a 3A school in which the DC and OC were not classroom teachers. I have even been in a 4A school where the HC taught a couple of history classes, and he was an amazing teacher.
 8. I know he is gone, but you have to blame the former coach for letting them get this way... >:(
 9. No, the worst part of the entire deal is Ozen and the Coach will be on the back page of The Leaguer. Every coach, band director, OAP Director, UIL Academic Sponsor, and administrator reads The Leaguer in Texas. It means you'll have a hard time finding a job if you have to make a move.
 10. When you get there, park in the senior teacher's parking lot down FM 253. It is an easy walk around the school to the stadium. ( It will say Nix Mixon Building. It'll be easier to get out esp. if you go down FM 253 to Hwy 87 to Orange.)
 11.
As a WOS rooter, I would like to welcome Buna to "BIG TIME" 3A Football.  Buna, you are playing with the big boys now.  I know you have a good team "BUT" your Football stadium and "PARKING" looks to be lacking.  If the "HOME" side of the stadium is the south side, where do you guys park? I know it will take an eternity get out of the stadium after the game. Is that why they call it "FRIDAY NIGHT MADNESS"?
I retired from Buna this past May, and Buna needs to update several of its academic facilities long before it worries about a new football stadium. There are classrooms that need to be condemned and WO-S and other schools wouldn't stand for it....That said, Buna doesn't have the money for the upgrade, and if you do not believe it, look at what Buna pays their teachers as compared to the rest of the district.
BH will pass through Baytown for over half of their district events.
I remember Buna going through then 3A Tarkington and Cleveland in order to play 3A Coldspring and Shepherd a few years ago, we then wondered what the UIL was thinking.
 13.

Were do you get off saying Buna sucks.  I think the boys know its a tough row to hoe but I don't think they all went en masse  to the coaches off to quit.  In my opinion you suck.
You are the ones writing your own team off in February and casting them off as will-be losers. Last I checked playoff spots were not won or lost in February. It isn't even baseball season for this school year and Buna fans are saying "won't make playoffs for a long time." No wonder.
Gabe, I taught in Buna for almost 20 yrs before I retired. I heard the old " we aren't going to win" up there the entire time...I do not know why they feel they have to be a downtrodden underdog, but they do...

 15.
Results will be on the UIL website around nine, but the it is already getting hammered and access, is difficult.
You can't get on UIL site...too many people hitting it.
 16. Apparently according to a Houston station I was listening to while visiting my doctor, there is some serious talk in Crane's office about moving the Astros...Who would be the most likely city to win the bid? San Antonio? Memphis? Vancouver? Speaking of the ghost of Bud Adams... :'(
 17.
Basketball will win 2 conference championships at least before football wins their first.
I believe this too....
 18.

It is only going to get worse before it gets better. Coaches and teachers have "NO" control anymore and it is not their fault. Bring paddling back to schools. Schools lost control when they quit paddling. JMO of course. Someone made a comment earlier about young people not fearing or respecting authority. BINGO!!!!!! Believe me it is at every single school.
I agree Solo.... The way things are these days, I would hate to be charged with "paddling" an unruly student.  Many of these kids have access to guns and knives (the way us old-timers had access to baseball cards and bubble gum)..and they think nothing of using those weapons against someone who was "disrespectful" to them.  Back in the day, when a teacher reprimanded a student either verbally or by corporal punishment, the student for the most part learned his lesson (even though maybe it took several times).  Many kids nowadays  don't respect nor fear their parents, let alone respect teachers/coaches or anyone else in authority.  Sad state of affairs but that's how I see it.
The kids are a part of why I retired from teaching, and for the most part, I had some really good kids in a really good district. That said, some of the kids I have taught are now doing life in Huntsville. I had kids who couldn't come to school because they had to do jail time. I had students who checked into the jail Saturday morning at Midnight and got out Sunday evening for school the next day. They did that for several weeks. ( I taught 18 yr old seniors most of my career.) I don't know why many of you are outraged. For the most part, the teachers in the classroom hands are tied. I got to write a book.
 19. To quote a comment from the paper this morning. "Mercifully, thankfully, the season ends...."
 20.
I can't remember us ever playing Buna. Bring in a new team to shake things up a little.
Buna was 3A in the past, when WO-S was still 4A. They played Bridge City, Orangefield, Hamshire-Fannett, Hardin-Jefferson etc....
 21. Had family near Tyler feel it, it scared them pretty badly. They were watching the news after the LSU game....
 22.

Not related to anyone. Some guys on here act as if the LU Football program has been around for years.  How do you expect great players to come here to a start up program.  Gonna take time.  Give this coaching staff 3-5 years.  If it is not getting the job done then you have to consider all options.  There is no doubt that Coach Woodard has what it takes.  It is so funny how quick people will turn their backs on the team and coaches once they lose games.  If they were winning it would be the best coaching staff in the conference.  Right???? How many starters are out right now???  Would they make up 50 something points, not likely but would make a big difference.
SEE SOUTH ALABAMA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you, I was thinking that....
 23. The UIL has to do something about their alignment, playoff system, something.....Burkeville 1-6, 1-2 and Sabine Pass 2-6, 1-2 are in the playoffs???
