Weird direction this game thread has taken. There are multiple reasons that Hefner was recruited by and is attending top Big boy basketball schools. Yes he is athletic, yes he is talented, yes he is exceptional at the game and in the classroom, yes he has big time potential with a very high ceiling. That fact that his trajectory has gone the way it has is proof. The fact that many of the same people on here staying “facts” have him in their list of top basketball players in the area...including listed above all players on United outside of Harrison is proof. The fact that he has a high ranking in the State by recruiting “experts”, above ALL players on United except Harrison is proof.
So sure, go type away and tell everyone how you dropped the mic with “facts” implying Hefner is overrated. The more likes you get should validate your opinion 🙄Hefner will be fine and will continue to be the overrated player that EVERY team Nederland plays game plans around. He will get his and put lots of players on posters (or hudl highlights) his remaining HS games.
And Hefner doesn’t need to be asked to do so much on the team, he has plenty of experienced teammates that could be used in roles...but that’s another thread 😬- Baba Ganoush32 and gogo1734

I wouldn’t say settled for 3’s...3-13, but Nederland was only 3-16. Lots of put backs, probably 3:1 offensive boards in favor of PA.

No but some older kids finally got some minutes together. Their ability to penetrate and get to the rim or kick out for a bucket seemed to spark the run. And that group was able to play pressure defense. They brought the game from a 19 point deficit to within 1. I imagine that group will start seeing more minutes as the season moves along.

H-F is a solid team. Backup Q is a pretty salty kid. Yes Morris is the horse and a gamer, but they play outstanding Defense and have a few playmakers that play with Morris pretty well. Losing him would dent the Horns for sure but I would not think they lose this one without him.

Maybe. I cant argue that, But Silsbee is not Newton. HF has a brand new program all the way through. I do not think they have a loss at any level this season. HF JV gave Newtons JV their first loss last week. Not comparable and I understand that. Silsbee will lose Friday and take 3rd behind HF.

What about comparing how much points each team scored against HJ and Liberty? HF = 58, Silsbee = 96.
But HF beating HJ at home by 1 point with a late TD and two point conversion while Silsbee defeated HJ by 34 on the road, looks pretty ominous.

Yes Newton and WOS have speed like EC. Just letting it be known that HF can play speed just fine. Santa is obsessed with HF playing Kountze and Silsbee Playing Newton. BTW I believe Newton and WOS were both Ls for Silsbee. So his point is not valid.
HJ played perfect for the first and only time all year against HF with the slot T. They had 0 turnovers that game. I think they fumbled 4 times against Silsbee. May have been caused fumbles which gives props to silsbee. BUt there is your difference in scoring. More possessions, which amounts to a difference in game when playing a slot T offense.
Liberty game was HF giving up 2 back to back Onside Kicks with 6 mins. left in the game. Cost HF possessions and gave points to Liberty. Score was 34-10 at that point.
HF definately has to play perfect, clean football to win. But HF can absolutely win this game.

I hope the silsbee kids are sleeping as well. EC has more speed than anyone silsbee has faced. Yes our Q is good, but HF has faster kids than Morris. This is not a slow team. You re looking at the comparison all wrong. Silsbee has given up 38 pts in common apponents and HF has given up 42. Little closer than what you would like im sure. 12 of Libertys points came in the final 6 mins of the game. Busted play, reversed field twice and squirted around the end. And they recovered 2 OS kicks. Keep snoring. That schedule was put together by the last AD 2 years ago. I would bet that after re alignment HF will be playing a better schedule. See you friday.

HF is very aware of that as well. Spring Hill??? Oops. EC would give silsbee all they want and could probably come out on top. I ll take HF dub over EC before giving you credit on the silsbee dub over a very down Nederland team. Other than Nederland, Silsbee has lost all their big games. Dont see your point in comparing Tarkington and Kountze to silsbee Losing games to bigger schools. HF could play those games and lose just like Silsbee.

Doesn’t the new basketball coach at HF have close ties with Big Perk? Seems like a simple connection to get this thing to blow up for the HF kids...a big ESPN guy putting out a plea on twitter or whatever to vote for his buddy’s school. And if anyone else has nice connections, regional or whatever, reach out!!
