HF struggling with Hughes Springs is not a good sign for them. I'll take EC by 21.
You must not have seen the game. There was not much of a struggle. Hughes Springs is a multi-round deep team most years. They are good.
Trick play scored and one big run early in game. H-F had 465 total yard Offense with countless fumbled snaps or bad snaps inside the 10. A lot of penalties as well. All early season stuff to clean up is all.
3 TD win is very hopeful. We will find out soon enough.
-
Nobody wants to talk this one up or down this season. Both sides must be a little nervous heading into Friday.
-
Big game for each team. Who you got?
Both teams can score, H-F with the edge on Defense.
H-F 34 EC 28
-
It is a spread Offense and ran a lot out of the I formation. I thought they looked good in it. They have enough skill guys to be dangerous. Speed did not look to be an issue.
-
Live half
H-F did not give up a TD. Defense looks very good. Secondary is fast and the D-Line is mean. H-F made a big goalline stand 1st and goal from the 3 yard line.
H-F scored once and moved the ball very well. QB for H-F can run and throw. Very fast and hard to tackle. Have several good looking running backs. Fumbles killed a few drives.
BC is running a spread Offense and look good doing it.
BC has a lot of speed on offense. QB i think is young but good. He will be very good in the near future. He missed a few throws but like I said H-F Defense looked dominant. They had him on the run often. BC backs are big and fast. The big fullback is hard to bring down. Defenses will need to gang tackle the big guy.
Both teams should do well in district.

Is there proof of any of this either way? No
The game has been forfeited. We have BH coming up. Still have a shot at the DC. We have survived igate.
Yes. The picture posted is proof that there was a recording device turned ON in the press box pointed at the playing field being used by a coach wearing a headset with direct contact to coaches on the sideline.
BF did not lie. BUT, he said there were no pictures, videos or text messages sent during the game. The coaches in the pressbox wearing headsets are not jr high inexperienced coaches. They are typically highly experienced coaches who have the highest impact on the game via headsets and information relayed to the sideline.
No need to send the videos or pictures or text messages when headsets are on competent trusted coaches.
careful with saying PNG has survived igate. BH and Nederland could easily hand Shug and crew 2 Ls making the Indians 4-3 and tied for NOT first place.

It is amazing to me what can happen with some personnel change. Same group of kids as last year minus seniors and they are firing on all cylinders. Wonder HOWE it would have went down if staff that is there now was there for that group of seniors last year. My guess is that H-F has a totally different year.
I think this will be a good game and if the Horns can put it all together they WILL come out on top no doubt!!!I like the HOWE question. Ha. Coach Waggoner and crew are doing an outstanding job with the H-F program. It appears the kids are buying in. The Longhorns play with a lot of emotion and discipline. Liberty is a tall task but the horns will be ready for the challenge.

H-F leads the district in scoring and Liberty has only given up 66 points in 6 games.Which is for real????
This will make the game interesting, as well as the fact that unless either team can fire a shot at WOS or Silsbee, the loser will likely see Jasper in round 1.
-
This is a big game for both teams in their District. H-F has looked pretty good this season. Pulling for my Longhorns but do they have enough in the tank for Liberty. This one should be a good game to watch. Go Horns.
-
Orangefield will control the clock and win this one fairly easy. Good luck to both teams.
-
EC will NOT run away with this game.
I have the Longhorns by enough.

lol 7/7 will be out the window when WOS and Silsbee and others start hittin their tails!
Can not be the best in the state when your MadMustangs are running from the best in 3A.
Running from the Newton Eagles.

I tried to make this same argument 2 months ago. HOWE do you suppose the old AD will take this post.

Maybe you should learn how to read there buddy...
I stated he was building toward the future.. Not built something... learn your past, present, and future tense..
You also failed to realize that he left for for his son and was not jumping ship, but agan you can't read... I'm sure if it wasn't for his son's condition, he would be staying and this board would be non existent.
He did have one of the best running backs in the area, he ran for close to 2,000 yards in 9 games. But if you know football, it takes more than just one to win at the 4A and higher levels.. in fact I bet if you talked to the coaches he played they would all say his teams were prepared and his kids played hard.
If you did talk to players at HF, they are upset but understand because he was teaching them to be men and have good priorities in life not just winning.
Again very sensitive. I know enough people in the HF community and enough football to know how offensive it is to the HF kids for you to say that (of a large senior class) some of which were a part of a playoff team at one point, only ONE player was good. I can read btw. Im still wondering what has you so fired up. Results are results. Time for new leadership in the athletic department.

Going to be tough with Silsbee replacing OF in that district. Also dealing with WOS and Liberty... 2 horse race for that fourth spot between HF and HJ
Absolutely. That is a small district with number of teams but it is one of the toughest 4A districts around.

It always amazes me how people will post stuff that is false and not have accurate Information.
1. Jehling had full board support, administration support and community support. In fact his contract was going to be extended another year.
2. Naturally there were probaby a few community members that didn't like him, but what head coach makes everybody happy.
3. Paine has been there 2 years and came with Jehling from Lumberton.
If you we went to the source, you would know that Jehling's 5 year old special needs son has a lot of medical issues. In fact his wife and son have been in the Dallas area for past 2 months for treatment. He had just learned in the past couple weeks that his sons treatment was going to last a a year to a year in a half. He made the decisin not be apart from his family for that long.
If you actually talked to the guy he would tell you it was a very tough decision. He just rebuilt a home in Hamshire that flooded during the hurricane.
Get your facts straight before calling a guy a bad hire. Coach Jehling was building something in Hamshire for the future..
Sensitive. You must know him personally. You re right, he built something in HF, a 3-16 record. And dont blame that on the talent. HF had the best RB in the area. (was going to get extended) to secretly jumping ship is convenient and not a fact. Im not sure your facts are correct about only a few community members not liking him. I hear the the HF players are not upset about his departure. Maybe Paine has been there 2 years, I dont know the timeline. The fact remains that the job is open and Paine could be the right fit rather than risking another outside hire. Again good luck HF. Make a good hire and become relevant again.
-
HF has plenty of athletes to build a program. They would be smart to hire in house and leave some consistency for the kids. There has been alot of grumbling about the current HC. Chalk it up to a bad hire and move on. They have a few experienced good coaches in house. Paine has been there 3 or 4 years, is well liked and was well liked at West Brook under Stump. He s been a part of some great programs. Good luck HF.

Is it true Kyle Green and Jay Stone to Nederland as asst coaches. What a catch for us
I thought Green would end up in WO-S, but I believe he is an old Nederland guy so this makes sense. Nederland Baseball just stepped up it s program with Stone and Green If this is true.

Kyle Green might be an option.
H-F VS EC The Rice Bowl

It was over 145 rushing yards with 118 negative rushing plays figured in from the 9 mishandled snaps. lost 15 to 20 yards per snap through the hands of Q. Yes they lost so I understand the struggle. Q was knocked out of the game in 1st half. so total yardage before mistakes was well over 400. Hughes Springs rank is from last season. Hughes Springs is no average 3A team. Big, fast, physical Slot T Team. SO comparing that game to is irrelevant to EC style. This should be a good game to watch.
