Port Arthur Memorial (7) vs Longview (51) - FINAL
Tigers94 replied to jdawg03's topic in High School Football
PA should have about 21 right now if they'd stop shooting themselves in the foot. -
Carthage should beat everyone in 4AD2 by 3 or 4 TDs on average. Any talk outside of that is just speculation. Of the teams in 5AD2 now, I'd take South Oak Cliff or FB Marshall. SOC gave Duncanville all they wanted before district and Dville is about 10x better than anyone Carthage has played. They might have actually won that game if they'd switched quarterbacks. 5AD1 I'd take Longview, Aledo, Timberview, College Station, Lancaster and maybe even PA if they can hang with (or beat) LV this week. Is easy to look big and bad against helpless teams. What's the Bulldogs most impressive win? Kilgore? And has it been confirmed Gilmer's starting qb ain't playing? Going to be an ugly game if true.

Thing is schools like Liberty Hill and Argyle are pulling from 5A student population numbers now to do what they're doing. Could Carthage win one game against a 5A? Sure, but that's not the same as running a 5A playoff gauntlet. You're not always gonna be resting your starters after halftime. You might be in a dog fight every game after round 1. They'd either get worn down or somebody would eventually get them. I think a China Springs rematch would be a close ballgame. CS is huge up front. They wouldn't get pushed around.

Carthage ain't winning 5A, not that it matters. They're not beating Longview or somebody like that. That's like saying WOS could have won 5A their championship years. We all saw what happened when they tried to punch up against Richmond Foster. It would be no different with Carthage.

Harris had 27 for Silsbee. Knew this was gonna be a rough one though. Wyatt lost to Faith Family by just 2 points earlier and they have just as much size as FF. Tigers played them evenly till the last few minutes a few months ago. That game is still up on Youtube, I believe. It may sound crazy, but I really like some of the things I've seen from these current starters. They'll fit in nicely when they're in their appropriate spots. I also like Adams. Got some really good handles. He just needs a little growth spurt.
-
Yeah, I think Cuero had one player who won them a state championship almost all by himself that year. Kid couldn't be stopped.

In the recent past, Wimberley was as far as the Tigers have gotten. Silsbee defense got lit up in that game. Them boys were scoring like crazy. They tried to make a comeback in that one, but it was too little too late.

Silsbee - 62 United - 45 -
Silsbee can run the ball just fine if need be. Rain doesn't necessarily mean much unless it's really coming down. Interesting to see how HF/Cuero plays out. If they run the Longhorns off the field, it might be reason to take serious notice.

So long as it's 2nd and 3rd stringers out there, I don't see what the big deal is.
-
Tigers by 14. Only worries is them maybe playing a hot team and turnovers. They should win though.
-
It would be best if we all accept the fact that Silsbee ain't winning anything till football is over and be at peace with it. Not gonna beat PA and they're definitely not gonna beat Wyatt with this bunch coming up. Having said that, it's going to be a really fun season when we get 75 percent of our roster back. Perhaps one of the most fun ones in years.

Lost 75 - 65.

It's hard cause I'm sure he feels like he has to try and force things in games like today. If they were playing lesser teams, it might would be different till the rest of the squad is here. Tiger starters for today's game: Harris Boulwin Dean Rice Shoulders So that's four starters they were missing.
-
Quinton Shoulders is #14 for Silsbee. Tigers might have won today if they didn't miss 30 free throws.

Silsbee (34) vs West Columbia (10) - FINAL
Tigers94 replied to jdawg03's topic in High School Football
I'd like to see a cleaner game, but the Tigers are who they are at this point. Doubt it magically changes by next week. So we can probably beat Smithville, which will likely lead to a matchup with Bellville. That's when things could get more interesting. -
Westfield was a top 10 6A squad last year. Not surprising a 4A school missing more than half their players had it rough. We'll see how things go Saturday.
-
They really beat a team 96 - 0 this year. Tells you all you need to about some of the teams in district. Might be in for a rude awakening when they play somebody with a pulse.
