Nice block by Lance. This is the second game in a row where, so far, our defenders can't stay in front of the other team's point guards.

Chapel Hill looks like they might be pretty good.

Off by 2 points. To think our two best players are both seniors. This may be a long next 2 years for Tiger basketball.

This'll be a 10 point PNG win if the 3 stops falling for Silsbee. It's about all we have. Let's hope they keep making them.

Put it to you this way: There's a lot of really good athletes on this Silsbee team. How many are good basketball players is a different story. Hopefully these good athletes can be molded into decent b-ball players by the time district starts. It's still really early and we just don't have the kids we've had over the past decade or so right now. As much as people don't want to hear this, it's going to take a few years to see if things work out. The community needs to be patient. Help will be on the way, but those kids who'll be freshmen next season will need a year's worth of experience and physical growth under their belt before they're really ready. That means it'll likely be 2027 before we see if Silsbee can get back to where they're used to being. I guess if you want some signs of a bright spot so far this year, they competed well with Humble (who somehow only lost to West Brook by 2 points) and Stafford, while not nearly as good as last year, still came in as a ranked team. They just need to start winning some of these close games.

Coach Brown gets his first win against his old team. Silsbee competed well in most of these games. I'd like to see us get better and actually win more of them.

Man I'm pulling for King, but if Vandy can put up 41 on them, how many points will DeSoto? That Eagle running back may have 500 yards next week.

Hope the Stafford game goes better than last year for Silsbee. They seem pretty down from last year themselves.

As bad as they still are, I'm seeing some improvements in the Tigers. The points per game has started to go up from a miserable barely over 50 a game. Still got a lot of work to do. We've got a really good dunker in Williams. Posterized an HJ kid a few days ago. I'd like to see him attacking the rim as much as possible and in transition. Humble actually looks like a pretty good team from their schedule, so at least we didn't get a 30 or 40 piece put on us.

Payton definitely made the right decision in leaving. I hope he gets a ring or two at BU. Him and Garrett in the same backcourt at West Brook would have been sick though.

So far Silsbee is averaging a little over 50 points per game. We only have maybe two kids that can actually shoot a basketball well and when they're off it's really bad. This is definitely one of the worse Tiger teams I've seen in a long time. I'm sure it'll get a little better, but I can't see more than one playoff win this year if we're lucky. Sad thing is there doesn't appear to be much there on the freshman or JV squads either. We won't have a chance of being really good again until 2027.

This is just sad to watch. Maybe we should have played Beaumont Kelly or Legacy instead.

Yeah, just don't pull a Silsbee and the Stangs can win this.

Surprised the United game was that close. Hear Payton is averaging about 20 ppg so far. Hopefully Silsbee can get a win in the morning.

I don't expect the Tigers to win, but if they want a chance: 1. Long drives that eat up the clock. Keep La Vega's offense off the field and try to wear their defense down. 2. No turnovers and absolutely no boneheaded penalties.

8th grade is really good. Arguably a top 3 team in the area regardless of classification. So long as all those kids stay together, Tiger basketball has a bright future.

They probably will... For about 5 minutes anyways.

Only real concern for Silsbee is the young and inexperienced secondary. Hopefully they'll get better with each game. We'll see when they play Hitchcock and HF.

Silsbee - 43 La Vega - 53

Silsbee lost to La Vega 53 - 43. They've got two more games tomorrow. Size might not be as much of a problem as some people think. We've got a 6'7 and 6'4, both sophomores, who'll be playing this year. That and a few really athletic 6'2 kids.

Silsbee will be playing: Waco La Vega, Dallas Roosevelt, and FW Southwest.

Tiger Basketball Shootout is this Saturday. It'll be interesting to see what we have.
