Beaumont West Brook 83 Silsbee 54/FINAL
Tigers94 replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Boys Basketball
So far Silsbee is averaging a little over 50 points per game. We only have maybe two kids that can actually shoot a basketball well and when they're off it's really bad. This is definitely one of the worse Tiger teams I've seen in a long time. I'm sure it'll get a little better, but I can't see more than one playoff win this year if we're lucky. Sad thing is there doesn't appear to be much there on the freshman or JV squads either. We won't have a chance of being really good again until 2027. -

This is just sad to watch. Maybe we should have played Beaumont Kelly or Legacy instead. -

Freshman game is woefully bad. Tigers down 50 - 7 at the half. -

Yeah, just don't pull a Silsbee and the Stangs can win this.

Surprised the United game was that close. Hear Payton is averaging about 20 ppg so far. Hopefully Silsbee can get a win in the morning. -
I don't expect the Tigers to win, but if they want a chance: 1. Long drives that eat up the clock. Keep La Vega's offense off the field and try to wear their defense down. 2. No turnovers and absolutely no boneheaded penalties.

8th grade is really good. Arguably a top 3 team in the area regardless of classification. So long as all those kids stay together, Tiger basketball has a bright future.

They probably will... For about 5 minutes anyways.

Only real concern for Silsbee is the young and inexperienced secondary. Hopefully they'll get better with each game. We'll see when they play Hitchcock and HF.

Silsbee will be playing: Waco La Vega, Dallas Roosevelt, and FW Southwest.

I'd imagine pay has something to do with the coaching selection. A lot of these coaches have mouths to feed and Tiger pay can make it a little rough. I don't think people realize how lucky Silsbee has been with the coaches they've had. I'm not sure what Coach Brown has had to work with at his other stops, but you can only do so much with what you have in players. Sometimes a win/loss record doesn't tell the whole story. Silsbee pay does need to get better. Otherwise we might see coaches using Silsbee to pad their resume before moving on to greener pastures.

Silsbee has lost high level D1 players on the boys and girls side these past few years. I realize the girl ain't in Beaumont anymore the last I heard, but still. I hope most the kids that'll be coming up can stick together for high school. I'm afraid there's a chance one might not stay, but that ain't for certain yet.

With the exception of his freshman year, Payton has always been on weak Silsbee teams relatively speaking. He had to be Lebron every game in Jr High. It's just bad timing of when he came up. You wonder where his little bro will now play when he comes up. I say go get that ring at United now. No hate. It is what it is 🤷♂️

That's one reason I support Jacob. Everybody knows what they're getting with him. I remember when Silsbee used to beat up on Kelly and Beaumont Legacy to name a few schools. With Jacob the Tigers will still play anybody anywhere, even if we ain't favored to get a W. I'm not sure what Hancock's philosophy is with scheduling.
