Silsbee lost to La Vega 53 - 43. They've got two more games tomorrow.
Size might not be as much of a problem as some people think. We've got a 6'7 and 6'4, both sophomores, who'll be playing this year. That and a few really athletic 6'2 kids.

I'd imagine pay has something to do with the coaching selection. A lot of these coaches have mouths to feed and Tiger pay can make it a little rough. I don't think people realize how lucky Silsbee has been with the coaches they've had.
I'm not sure what Coach Brown has had to work with at his other stops, but you can only do so much with what you have in players. Sometimes a win/loss record doesn't tell the whole story.
Silsbee pay does need to get better. Otherwise we might see coaches using Silsbee to pad their resume before moving on to greener pastures.

Silsbee has lost high level D1 players on the boys and girls side these past few years. I realize the girl ain't in Beaumont anymore the last I heard, but still.
I hope most the kids that'll be coming up can stick together for high school. I'm afraid there's a chance one might not stay, but that ain't for certain yet.

So who beside Williams has applied?
Since Hancock hasn't gone for it, I guess I'm hoping Williams gets it now.

Williams he was the one that use to get over excited at times during the games huh.. ?
Sounds like Ira, although he seems to have mellowed out a bit these past few years.

I think I'm pulling for Hancock. He's got a good resume and ties to the area.
First year is going to be kind of rough for whoever gets the job, but it won't last. Hopefully Tiger fans won't overreact to how next season is likely to play out and show a little patience.

With the exception of his freshman year, Payton has always been on weak Silsbee teams relatively speaking. He had to be Lebron every game in Jr High. It's just bad timing of when he came up. You wonder where his little bro will now play when he comes up.
I say go get that ring at United now. No hate. It is what it is 🤷♂️

I wouldn't overreact to this. Silsbee may have 4 or 5 kids that'll go straight to varsity in 27. Assuming they all stick together.
They just need to nail it with this new coaching hire and all will be set.
Next year might be rough though.

Well it's gonna be an interesting year next season. Silsbee will have a new coach and one of the weakest Tiger rosters seen in a while. It might not be a bad idea to punch down or at their own body weight for just a little bit.

Coach Travis never Scheduled or really challenged the tigers like Coach sigler did no disrespect to any of the teams in our area or to Coach Williams but scheduling a lot of our local teams like he did back then will not help playing 5a and 6a competition will help keep our young Tigers at the top of 4a unless Mr Williams coaching style has changed I don’t want to see Silsbee in the Evadale tournament again no disrespect to any team keep the run and gun style offense and intense defense that is Silsbee we need a coach that will keep that no fear of anyone 4a 5a or 6a competition Silsbee has never backed down from.
That's one reason I support Jacob. Everybody knows what they're getting with him. I remember when Silsbee used to beat up on Kelly and Beaumont Legacy to name a few schools. With Jacob the Tigers will still play anybody anywhere, even if we ain't favored to get a W. I'm not sure what Hancock's philosophy is with scheduling.

The thing about the Westwood coach is would this be a long term hire? Yeah, it'd be great for Tiger basketball for the next few years. If Silsbee keeps going D2, who's beating them?
I think Jacob would be long term if he's ready. Him or Hancock.
Either way, Tiger basketball will be in good hands.

Who gets this Job, Ira Brooks or they go statewide?
I can't really see him doing it. Could be wrong though.
I've got a few ideas, but it's just pure speculation.

What about next year?
There's lots of question marks going in to next year. It's simply too early to say how things are going to play out.
Next year could be the weakest Tiger season in a while, or they might be about as good as this year.

If the roster I'm looking at is the correct one, Wheatley has 11 seniors on their team, including their best players.
I'm not sure how us Tiger fans should feel. Do we want the team that beat us to win state, knowing if we'd just made a few free throws it could have been us, or do we want to see them lose?

I heard Silsbee 7th grade is very very good. Not sure about 8th grade and JV.
8th grade is solid, JV has one or two kids we might can get something out of. Cartwright will be a senior next year.
Starting line up should be:
Jones
Cardinalli
Chaison
Johnson
Arline
All my very early opinion, of course.

Top 2 scorers from tonight’s game will be back. Missing Boulwen and Rice will sting though
It's going to hurt. We really need our big freshman to have a good off season and be ready to start next year. He needs to hit the weight room and get stronger and faster. We've got another kid with decent size on JV. Hopefully he can fill in for Boulwen.
We should have good shooters (not that it mattered tonight) in Jones, Cardinalli, and Arline, plus maybe one or two more.
The real fun should start when next year's 8th graders make it to high school. So long as they all stay together and continue to develop, we'll be set up really nice.

The majority of people picked Silsbee on this thread, so I am thinking this was a upset tonight
It was always a coin flip if we're being honest. Of course all of us Tiger fans were going to pick Silsbee, but we might be just a little biased.

Good season. Tough night for some pretty bad shooting.
