69 - 35 in the 3rd.
Not really surprised. Game is like taking off 100 pound ankle weights compared to what the Tigers were just playing in Arkansas.

Johnson has had a knee injury. I think they just want to be really careful with that.
Some can call this being too picky if they want, but Silsbee needs to do more than just compete well with the good teams they play. Could have easily went 3 - 0 this week if they played 4 solid quarters of basketball. Saw where there were 54 fouls and 68 free throws taken in the Dville game. I hope we didn't toss up too many bricks from the ft line in that one.
Lets get a few dubs in New Orleans after we take care of Vidor.

I missed most of this one, but I heard one kid from Dville lit us up for 40 points?
-
88 - 85 Dville
20 seconds left.

Tied up at 9 - 9. End of the 1st.
Bout to have to step away. Check the King Cotton Twitter for updates if nobody is doing it here.

Tigers have one common opponent with Duncanville, that being Lufkin. Hope that isn't an indication of how tomorrow's game will go, as Dville handled Lufkin easy. They can light it up from 3 from what little I've seen of them.
Really looks like Gonzaga may roll everyone at this tournament.

Wow....I just knew we were getting BU vs Lake Travis in this tourney.
What in the world happened to LT?

One problem I've noticed is Silsbee often tries to push the ball up the court too fast when they get it and will turn it right back over. This usually leads to free points for the other team. They need to teach these kids to pay attention first and foremost before passing the ball out.
And one of our star players needs to take it to the hoop and draw fouls when we go cold shooting the ball.
Still, there's no real shame in losing this one. It should be perfectly clear by now what we need to clean up if we want to be playing in March.

Silsbee will play Benton (AR) at 11:30 tomorrow.
Duncanville lost to Pine Bluff 84 - 79. Were getting their butts kicked, but made a furious comeback to make a game of it.
-
Other scores from the Allen tournament.
Lake Travis - 74
Lake Highlands - 56
Allen - 81
Naaman Forest - 47
Amarillo - 55
Wylie - 48
Beaumont United will play Amarillo if they beat Mesquite Horn, will play Wylie if they lose.

There's a pay per view for the King Cotton Classic.

Booker T is also playing in the King Cotton Classic this year. I don't think any Texas teams ended up playing one another last year. Not sure if it was set up that way on purpose, or if that's just how the brackets played out.
As for this game, honestly, Silsbee looked very disinterested in this matchup. No real intensity or fire.
I think they did a better job on the boards in the 3rd by starting Elam.

What makes you say that?
Freshman class this year isn't good (besides Payton obviously) and the 8th graders aren't much better from what I've seen.
It's a combo of some lackluster classes coming up and some kids just choosing not to play.
Silsbee has some exceptional looking groups at the junior levels, so that little dry spell won't last, but people are gonna need to hang in there and be patient.
Payton will get to do his thing, but I'm a little concerned about what they're gonna surround him with starting in 26.
I'm just basing this on what I've seen up to right now. A lot can change from year to year, so you never know. May need to borrow a few more from Marshall Middle School though 🤷♂️

IMO, Silsbee top players are very good. Lets get that out of the way. But from what I have seen the last few years including this year, one player is great with the recruits and all. He puts up great numbers in normal games, but the big game with the brightest lights, he disappears. The other player gives it to you even in the big games. The best player in my opinion is the one that shows up in the big games. I'm talking about games against BU, WB, PA, big tournament games, or highly ranked opponents.
I'm afraid Silsbee might be in for some lean years for a little while after this. People had better enjoy this season while it last.

I'll be looking for Silsbee to do a better job of taking care of the ball and getting defensive boards and loose balls. We gotta get this mess cleaned up. It's not likely gonna matter in district, but it will eventually when they play a good team.
-
Attendance for this game was 33,913.

This one might be over already.
28 - 7 in the 2nd.
-
That one Bridge City kid was a little too proud of himself after making a block and tried to act tough on a previous play.
The refs probably wanted to make it clear they wouldn't tolerate the Tigers responding to that in any way, so Harris gets a tech for twitching the wrong way.

Congrats, Indians.
To be honest, I didn't think y`all had much of a chance. Glad I was wrong about that.

Who is #20 for Silsbee? Looks like one of the better players during warmups, but rarely plays.

Ugly game.
Every team in district should receive similar treatment though, especially when we FINALLY have our entire roster out there playing for some of the rematches.
