texanabroad got a reaction from Hagar in Tobie, lets try an experiment
I think that both sides of this argument have valid points and also faulty ones. One, I don't know what driving while black is like, so I have to try and understand your viewpoint. I would assume that sometimes there is some sort of double standard that takes place when you are black. I think that it would be foolish to assume otherwise. I think that the vast majority of officers aren't racist, but I do believe that sometimes, a black person will be treated differently than a white person. I feel like the conservatives on this board could gain a little respect from the other side if they would admit this. Two- the libs on this board need to ask why certain officers treat blacks differently? I don't necessarily believe it has anything to do with race at all most of the time. I believe that a lot of times, it is the neighborhood that they are working, or just the perception of the gang banger mentality. One has to admit that the gang banger mentality that is so pervasive in many minority communities puts a wall up between the police and the citizens. I also believe sometimes that they may profile the vehicle or the dress of the individual. Right or wrong, that is how i see it. I think that the libs on this board could gain a lot of respect from the right if they would admit that there may be other problems leading to this than just the easy fallback of racism. It may be racism sometime, but the vast majority of the time, it isn't. What I do believe that both sides can agree on is that any bad officers need to be gone. They are not above the law. If they abuse their power, they should be held to a higher standard and punished accordingly.  What both sides should also be able to agree upon is that most officers do an amazing job and deserve our utmost respect. Until both sides can admit this, there will be no progress on this front.

I've been away from the board for a while and I see that nothing much has changed. I believe that it is your patriotic right to stand for the anthem. If I had a say, it would be written into law. But, we live in a free society where people have the freedom to choose what they wish to do. That freedom does not exempt them from the consequences of those actions. The NFL is paying the price of those consequences. And all for what? The protests originally began to point out injustices against blacks. I ask you this, what is the main point of conversation about now regarding the NFL? Is it about injustices? No, it is about kneeling for the anthem and how it has hurt the NFL's favorability ratings. The protests are a failure in my opinion. I will give you this analogy. How many people have switched sides to being a Donald Trump supporter since he got elected. Very, very few have become new supporters, His inflammatory talk doesn't bring people together, it divides. His supporters have dug their heels in and his detractors have dug theirs in. And nobody is any better for it. Now, take that same analogy and apply it to this protest. No patriotic American will likely support an argument that starts with such an offensive gesture. Both sides have now dug their heels in and neither side is willing to listen to the other. That is why this is a total failure.

This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up The hard truth folks, when you're passing out Govt money for research via grants, the results you're getting are not worth the paper they're printed on.  If the Fed Govt gave me $500,000 a year to say Eskimo Pies are bad for you, I'd have to just keep researching and showing that them durn Eskimo Pies will kill you deader than a hammer.
They're not doing research, they're making money - they're bought.  Doesn't matter.  Air particulates, man made global warming, Eskimo Pies, all same-o same-o.  I'm reminded of the egg conundrum.  Eggs bad for you - Eggs good for you.  Guess it all depends on who's paying them researchers to test them eggs.
There may be MMGW, and Eggs are probably okay in moderation, and I have to believe that Eskimo Pies are good for you.  But I'll not take the word of someone getting Govt Grant money.

I look at it this way. The Republicans in 2016 probably put up the second worst candidate in the history of American presidential elections. Fortunately, the Democrats put up the worst candidate in history.

Let's see, many on the left don't think Trump should be the president because he has no experience in running any government program. He has no clue what he is doing. He should leave it to the career politicians that know how things work.
Okay, so Trump wants people that know how to spur growth in charge of the economy... but now the left is saying, hey, experience is not needed. Middle class Americans need to be in charge of what is good economically.
I don't know if Trump is correct but I understand his concept. I don't want a college dropout that is organizing anti-military peace rallies to be in charge of the Department of Defense.

The problem is, many on the Ultra Left do want to change our system of Govt.  Hodgkinson, who worked on Bernie's campaign, had put on Facebook, "Democratic Socialism explained in 3 words, We the People".  Bernie Sanders is not a democrat, he's a Socialist, and if not for the questionable antics of the DNC, might have won the nomination.  I pray that liberals, like yourself, might realize what the Democratic Party is morphing into, and somehow change the direction.  I don't agree with democrats, but I can't stand socialist.

I believe in country, guns (for protection) and yes we have a great country even with the problems, don't want to change our system of government. just want to fix what's broken, rather than fight each other maybe we could identify what needs fixing and agree on a fix. But in order to do that, we must hear each other and stop trying to one-up each other.

Liberals and conservatives in my opinion both try way to hard to push there values on all citizens. Both paint the opposition as the boggie man. No party is consern with solving the issues. To be liberal is to be anti anything conservative and to be conservative means to be anti anything liberal.

They wouldn't agree that 1+1 is 2 because that mean they'll have to go on record agreeing with the opposition. And in politics there's a special place in hell for agreeing across party lines.
So I view both as worthless puppets who take pride in the art of disagreement.

Out of all this talk about the shooting .....
How about those two police officers that from news reports, ran across open ground to engage the suspect. They likely had only handguns against a rifle.  In combat that is a terrible mismatch that should not be undertaken however these two dedicated police officers  did just that.  They could have sought cover behind the dugout, called for help and be the last line of defense for the people around them.  To do so would not be cowardly. Those officers did not take that option.  They went into the fight completely out gunned.
What likely would have been double digit fatalities, including those police officers, turned out to only have one death… the suspect.
With overwhelming odds against them they ran toward the fight.  That was an unbelievable display of courage and call to duty.
Thank you my brother and sister.

I would vote no on the Bill. The reason, and I would shout it from the rooftops, is that I don't feel Congressmen should be carving out special privileges for themselves. We have enough of that already. If they feel a gun will protect them, then that logic should extend to the common people also. What's good for the goose... I think everyone should be afforded their 2nd amendment rights, not just a privileged few, therefore the Bill should allow everyone to carry guns.

I'm of the opinion that all our presidents in my lifetime have been quite intelligent, Trump included. I don't think you can get elected if you aren't pretty smart with the way politics, debates and media are. According to the logic of this article, Obama would be stupid because he said he campaigned in all 58 states. I personally think Obama was very smart, so that logic doesn't fly with me. Trumps problem is and probably always will be that he doesn't think before speaking. That is not a sign of stupidity, but poor self control.

This Is EXCELLENT!  A Thousand times OVER Excellent!!                                            "US" by Paul Genova

(Mr. Paul Genova has been President and Chief Operating Officer of Wireless Telecom Group Inc. since June 30, 2016.
I haven't said too much about this election since the start...but this is how I feel...
I'm noticing that a lot of people aren't graciously accepting the fact that their candidate lost.   In fact you seem to be posting even more hateful things about those who voted for Trump.
Some are apparently "triggered" because they are posting how "sick" you feel about the results.
How did this happen you ask? Well here is how it happened!

You created "us" when you attacked our freedom of speech.
You created "us" when you attacked our right to bear arms.
You created "us" when you attacked our Christian beliefs.
You created "us" when you constantly referred to us as racists.
You created "us" when you constantly called us xenophobic.   You created "us" when you told us to get on board or get out of the way.

You created "us" when you attacked our flag
You created "us" when you took God out of our schools.
You created "us" when you confused women's rights with feminism.
You created "us" when you began to emasculate men.
You created "us" when you decided to make our children soft.

You created "us" when you decided to vote for progressive ideals.
You created "us" when you attacked our way of life.

You created "us" when you decided to let our government get out of control.
You created "us" the silent majority
You created "us" when you began murdering innocent law enforcement officers.
You created "us" when you lied and said we could keep our insurance plans and our doctors.
You created "us" when you allowed our jobs to continue to leave our country.

You created "us" when you took a knee, or stayed seated or didn't remove your hat during our National Anthem.

You created "us" when you forced us to buy health care and then financially penalized us for not participating.
And we became fed up and we pushed back and spoke up.   And we did it with ballots, not bullets.
      With ballots, not riots.
      With ballots, not looting.
      With ballots, not blocking traffic.
With ballots, not fires, except the one you started inside of "us"
      "YOU" created "US".
It really is just that simple.

Tobie, should he be prosecuted? What do you think? I really don't think prosecution is the answer. I think this as well as the other incidents mentioned above were all in very poor taste. I think comedy or political activism can do fine without crossing these lines with personal threats. The problem goes back to our moral decline in this country. I can't imagine 75 years ago, mainstream comedians and celebrities doing the same thing. I don't think they would have ever worked again. Now, we are debating about which is acceptable and which isn't. None of it is acceptable. I condemn it all.

This is a tough issue. I am very pro gun. I own many myself and won't give them up to anybody. I have had to take serious thought as to whether we still deserve the right to keep and bear arms due to these idiots shooting everyone up. I did research to convince myself that guns should be outlawed and I couldn't change my opinion on it. Looking at all the evidence from around the world and the US on places that have enacted gun bans, I determined that the constitution got it right. However, I have no problem with more thorough background checks and I suspect most conservatives have little problem with that as well. On a side note, I find it ironic that liberals support better background checks on gun purchases, but don't want them on people coming from countries with large numbers of people hoping to blow us up. Be consistent people That is another subject though. Anyway, back on topic. I feel that many gun related issues have to do with mental health issues. I believe that is where everyone's energy should be directed rather than at the VAST majority of gun owners, who are no threat to anyone. And no, I don't believe more laws are the answer.

Why not come out and say that everyone should tone down the violence rhetoric and that this is unacceptable. But no, you gotta go against those nasty conservatives.
