??? Do you really not understand what she is saying? I understand. :-\ :-\ . Was that sarcasism? District 204A is so competitive that coaching is the difference. Look at Nederland year in and year out and at the same time look at Ozen. I promise Ozen usually puts some very talented kids on the field but coahing has failed them. I believe everyone on this board knows Matt Burnett doesn't play , he coaches. It is ultimately up to the kids to win but the guidance from the coach can be the difference most of the time. No sarcasm just questioning the theory.

With so much talk lately about upcoming talent. It looks to me like WOS, Lumberton, and Nederland have the bragging rights. I don't put much in 8 - 10 year olds( a lot can change), but must say C.O. Wilsons 8th graders has some of the best talent I have ever seen at Nederland.I would expect big things from these kids.

Dakari Pearson single handedly beat us in 1998 while nursing a hernia.. The guy was amazing.

Class act I agree with, purple to the bone. It's just time for a change. But, if I was from Nrderland I wouldn't want to see Burnett go either.I just hope they hire the right man.

Making the playoffs every three to four years is a joke with the three and now four team watered down playoff system. So the staement about one losing season isn't valid.

Very good post and right on the money. The talent comments are a shot while we are down, but if the right candidate is chosen we will be back.

Yeah a good example is the freshman team. I agree the grass is not greener if the make the wrong choice. Nederland can attest to that, they went through of bunch of losers in the 80's and early 90's before they got Neumann. We thought Coach Derouen was bad but then we got Bobby August and really sucked. Thank God for Neumann, He is worth every penny he is payed. I think PNG will get a very good coach out of this. As much as I hate to admit it they do have a great tradition, spirit, fans, and facilites. Ya'll ever get tired of Neumann we will take him.

He was probably one of the best OC in the area. Grant it DL was a heck of a QB but Coach Long had just as much to do with the sucess of that offfense than anyone else. What makes you think that won't happen again? Anything changed since the last uprising when kids were getting coached to the bone. I agree about the big names and I also agree our program would be no better off with Long than it is with Burnett. If PNG wants change then lets have change. Bring in someone with no ties or past history to Port Neches or anyone from Port Neches.The LAST GOOD COACH we had got run out of town by Purple Politics. Answer me this. Why would you hire a head coach who had a worse record than the guy you are getting rid of? Kelly Bulldogs went 2-6 this year. PNG went 3-6 Well first off im not saying they should hire him. I think alot of poeple are throwing Long's name out there because of the history he has with the program. Im sorry you cant compare Kelly's program to PNG. (nothing against the kids or program against Kelly) but I think Long would have more sucess at PNG cause there is more talent to work with there. Point well taken although you just hacked a bunch of Kelly Bulldogs off. If this does happen, I bet there will be some big names apply for the job. Answer to original question: Whats in WOS future? WINNING, heck of a program and I don't see that changing for a while.

Very good post and point. To answer your question , Matts first HC job was at PNG and he was and is no more qualified than Monty. Although I don't think you have to worry about Monty going anywhere, he is and should be in line for Neumanns job when he decides to retire. This is not meant to be a rhetorical question because I don't know the answer but how much HC experience did MB have when he took over the reigns?

I will be glad when it is over, and we get to see who applies. Some of these people need to look a little farther than a few miles up the road. I didn't know we had to hire from within the Golden Triangle. We can do better than what will be AVAILABLE locally. Lumberton is a growing town with a lot of good athletes. And it will compund thanks to Hurricane Ike, the Bridge City growth will slow down and Lumberton will increase.That is why Creuder should not and in my opinion will not go. The best man for PNG is not coaching locally. Time will tell.

I would bet there are some pretty good coaches waiting now to see how this unfolds. Why is it so attractive, is it because of the high pay, is it because of all the athletes, or is it because of all the people that constantly bash the coach. Nice stadium and good tradition. Two positives and three negatives. When Danny Malone got the job Bruce Bush made the final four list and I can't honestly remember the other two. But, anyone who knows H.S. football would agree about Malone and Bush being big names statewide. Athletes come in cycles ANYWHERE, its what you do when there isn't as much. Nederland is a prime example, Neumann has won with some lessor (talent wise) teams. He develops them and teaches them how to win. I agree about some of the fans there were some fools that were starting trouble with Malone because their kids did not get to play where they wanted.We also saw the same thing happen with Jack Daniels( PNG Softball).But, most coaches know that if they can win here they will get noticed in the playoffs here(thanks to the following not just from the PNG fans, but the whole area).Thats the difference, the whole area comes out and follows PNG. The PNG fans are no better than any other fans of a winning team. But if and when there is a change we will see who applies.

I think in terms of one man teams or difference makers. Dakari Pearson and Kendall Briles comes to mind. These are just recent how far do you want to go back? Leland McElroy, James Brown, Todd Dodge, Brent Duhon. Or even Farther back Little Joe, Jeff Bergeron.

HAHAHAHA!!! Filing charges by a local police department is one thing. Getting charges accept by the DA for a fight and prosecuting is another thing entirely. I will believe charges will be filed and accepted when I see it. I don't think anything will happen. Nothing happened to Nederland or Lincoln when they didn't finish the game several years back for a big fight also. The melee at that game was similar.
