  1. No matter how good each team is, Vidor usually plays PNG a tough game. We better bring it and not get caught looking ahead.
  2. Maybe a Paramedic, or at least an Intermediate.
  3. Tom has been catching some flack lately, especially from some of my fellow PNG fans. I can understand why, he is fond of Nederland and a reporter is supposed to be neutral. But what I have seen is that once you earn Mr. Halliburtons respect, he gets real eager to write about you. Back in the mid 90's when Nederland was starting to show up as a football team, TH didn't give them the credit they were deserving. I even recall an incindent(some of the older Ned. fans can back me up) where Tom went to a Nederland Pep Rally to present Troy Sumrall an award, and TH was booed because of Neds feeling of a lack of respect. With this being said, can we as PNG fans expect him to look at us as a major football PROGRAM with just having a real good team every three to four years? He doesn't get real excited over one year wonders.Honestly Nederland does it year in and year out. This does, yes go back to coaching. We have a strong senior group, and a strong freshman group.Count, can you see the pattern? As for me I still appreciate and respect the articles and coverage Mr. Halliburton gives our local kids.Just my two cents.
  4. Nederland would definitely beat PAM this year. Good chance it would be ugly too! Like Jake said, year in year out PAM would have to be favored.
  5. With that said Johnson is a heck of a ballplayer, but he isn't the only one in the area.
  6. 231 rushing yards.HMMMM, how did that happen with D. Johnson in the game?
  7. I could be like some and pick a player from each side of the ball from my team, but I will be realistic and honest. Although, I will pick one from PNG that I feel is deserving this week. Offense - No brainer here: Hussey from Lumberton Defense - Broussard from PNG (1 interception, 2 fumble recoveries, 4 knocked down passes, 9 tackles, 1 assist.)
  8. I haven't seen all of them yet but I like Shexneider and Broussard from PNG, and Johnson from Nederland.
  9. I agree about Josh Wright the one two punch does give an added advantage in the backfield. He was a pleasant surprise for us this year, especially having him back next year.
  10. Looking at the remaining games still leaves a lot of uncertainty.
  11. OF 28 Bridge City 7 The trophy is going back to OF this year.
  12. Goodness, I feel Lumberton coming in off big wins against Dayton and Central will come to the Rez on just as much a high as PNG following MCM. So, I guess that is a wash. Both teams are similar and it should be a heck of a game. Looking forward to Hussey vs. Hemmings.
  13. I checked your sources and it said Nederland ranked 2nd in 1999 by a 27.43 margin. You were ranked 1st in 2004, but my last post was referring to 1999 as it stated in the post. I actually forgot we even had a share of the title in 2004. I believe that was the year of the Ozen fiasco.Gotta admit that the sight of the Nederland fans on their field listening to PA Announcer and praying waiting for the outcome of our game with Ozen was PRICELESS. Ya'll were dependent on us winning the game to be in the playoffs, a PNG loss would have kept ya'll home.Honestly Ozen was better than us that night, but it worked out we still would rather take ya'll to the playoffs with us. As for Friday if I was a betting man I would have to go with Nederland. Just being honest, you guys have an impressive team this year. We have a team that is capable of pulling off an upset and thats what it would be.Ya'll are the favorites.
  14. Nederland went for 11 years in a row under the same format the other teams didn't. Great accomplishment. As for you going as co district champs,YOU ARE WRONG.In 1999 Nederland was co champs with PNG.PNG beat Nederland 31 - 8.PNG lost to WOS by only 7.In a three way tie they use the point spread, in a two way they use head to head competition.Either way you lose.
  15. There was an attempt to start a booster club at PNG and Matt Burnett shot it down! Go figure, whats the motive for that.
  16. I agree tvc the cutoff for 5a has gotten away from Neds enrollment. Ned and PNG will never consolidate. It isn't likePA or Beaumont, these are two completely different school districts. It isn't quite as easy for consolidation of two different ISD's.TJ, Lincoln, and SFA were all in the PAISD to start with.
  17. I stll say Lumberton by a touchdown and they will get the respect they deserve! Thats my opinion
  18. The short passing does keep the defense guessing. Also right before halftime( i believe) the short short slant to Doty set up a 45 yard touchdown pass down field.
  19. I think right now Nederland is definitely the favorite. If it stays close PNG has a chance.I feel our defense is as good as anybody's in the district , but we have not faced a team that runs the spread as good as Nederland. I'm not sure how we will match up with that, honestly.
  20. Honestly,Nederland looks like the team to beat in 4A. They have been winning for years now , but it always seemed to be less than impressive. They were always a well coached team that didn't make mistakes and would make you pay for yours. But in contrast this team is very impressive. Could play deep in the playoffs.
  21. This Ned team is looking as good as any I've seen.Congrats on an awesome game.
