  1. Trust me, EVERYTHING on here is just speculation. Its getting comical. I believe people should stop throwing names out there. I know someone who has inquired and really doesn't want a lot made of it due to current situation. These guys have current jobs and most are in pretty good situations. These guys should be able to inquire in complete confidentiality. I believe most of us have done it.Anyway, I am feeling real good about the future now. We need to just sit back and be patient. Time will tell.
  2. Maybe they know who they want and wrote the requirements to fit him.Who knows???????Stay tuned for some surprises.
  3. I agree ith this post. I'm not impressed with his record but Todd Dodges record before Southlake Carroll was less than desirable also. I think it will be a mistake, but will support if we don't get any better applicants like I think we will. If better apply and get passed by I can't say how I would feel at that point.
  4. How do you know he couldn't turn it around? I don't know, anything is possible. Look at Dodges record before he went to Southlake Carroll( not real impressive). Long just hasn't done anything to impress me other than the 1998 and 1999 PNG teams which were loaded with talent. As far as all the talk that he will develop QB's, I didn't see proof of any other QB's except his son that was that great. He hasn't done anything at Kelly except beat a team that was one of the top in the country the year before, which doesn't mean much. Take a look at the 99 Indians and then 2000 Indians. I just don't feel we will be any better off than we are now. I think we can get much better. By much better ,I mean someone with a proven record. Long doesn't have much of a proven record yet.I'm not sure our school board is really trying to get the best we can get so who knows. Now with all that being said, if we don't get much apply and Long ends up being the one with the best resume' then he will have my support.I just don't see us not getting a better applicant.
  5. I hope this isn't true. I do not think Long is the man that can turn the program around.
  6. Would Hooks and Neumann keep their job with the following record: 2008 3 - 6 2007 8 - 4 made playoffs 2006 5 - 5 2005 5 - 3 2004 8 - 4 made playoffs 2003 8 - 4 made playoffs 2002 5 - 5 2001 3 - 6 2000 5 - 5 Made the playoffs 3 out of 9 years.
  7. Not sure about where he grew up but he played for one of Nebraskas National Championship teams.
  8. Danny Malone is from Nebraska. He will not leave, he got married and is settled back where he is originally from. He is currently coaching there(Fillmore Central High School in Geneva, Nebraska) and I believe he will ride this position into retirement. It would be nice to get him back, but won't happen.
  9. I like their coach also, class act. Take it to Angleton.Go Jags.
  10. Looks like someones kid didnt make it onto a select team. Probably not, 90% of the kids on this GNLL team had been playing select together( I believe the team was the Heat) for a couple of years when they decided to go back to league for their 12 year old year to make a run at the state championship.
  11. No agenda, this Indian just isn't afraid to admit Nederland has built a top notch program. One quite a bit better than ours. We are getting a new coach, hopefully our fate will change.
  12. Baddog did you see my earlier post? I said "Have you been to any of their playoff games? Did you see they had open all the sections of the dome against Stephenville.Granted this is due to all the support from the sorrounding communities. We have to give credit where credit is due.We don't even have the population to support some of the crowds, but for some reason when we go everyone in the area supports( and it is much appreciated)." Most of us know this crowd was made up of people from all over our area, but they did sit on our side. That same year we beat Brazosport in the dome and the next week at the LaMarque game I sat by a young couple(the lady was a teacher at brazosport) who said they were from Jasper and it looked fun on our side and wanted to come this week and sit on our side.Like I said , we can't claim all those fans but for some reason they come out and support us when we go. Once again it is greatly appreciated and makes it that much more fun.For the record I attend most of Nederlands playoffs games whether or not everyone else from our area does or not.

  14. I was wondering what happened to Malone. Have not heard anything about him since he left here. He is coaching in Nebraska( where he is from)and is still fielding some good teams.

We have to give credit where credit is due.We don't even have the population to support some of the crowds, but for some reason when we go everyone in the area supports( and it is much appreciated).Another example was when I was at a select baseball tournament a couple years ago and was talking to an assistant coach for Brownwood High School he commented on how well known and respected PNG's football program was. I conveyed to him that we were not doing as well and his response was that it will return because PNG can bring in good coaches when they do decide to bring in new leadership. This guy was an assistant under the winningest all time high school football coach in Texas. When we got Malone he came from Tyler with an established top notch 4A program and also Bruce Bush (who was at Gregory Portland, and later to San Marcus) applied. Bush is way up on the all time winningest Texas coaches list. You may say, well that was back in the 80's.It was and the 80's were way worse than anything we have experienced lately. Add to that the fact that we have a top notch facility now that we did not have then and I would have to say the position is much more appealing now than it was in 1989.Does that address your question texans???????? Then their should be no problem getting almost any top 5A or 4A coach in texas to apply for the job. I hope yall dont try and get our coach from Dayton he will leave for sure I wouldn't say, any 5A or 4A coach.I would like to have one at the level of your coach. There is a big group of PNG fans that are hung up on Mike Long and there isn't a doubt in my mind we can get way better. I can't see any 5A HC's from an established program wanting to leave, but maybe some 5A OC's or DC's.Well time will tell and we will see, I hope i'm right.

  18. Danny Malone was the best coach to ever coach on the Reservation. He was a motivator and kept the crowd in it the whole game.I remember in the playoff game against #2 Ranked Jasper the Indians jumped out in front 21-0, and after that third TD he called an on side kick which led to a 28 point lead. His teams were the most exciting PNG teams to watch.
  19. ??? Do you really not understand what she is saying? I understand. :-\ :-\ . Was that sarcasism? District 204A is so competitive that coaching is the difference. Look at Nederland year in and year out and at the same time look at Ozen. I promise Ozen usually puts some very talented kids on the field but coahing has failed them. I believe everyone on this board knows Matt Burnett doesn't play , he coaches. It is ultimately up to the kids to win but the guidance from the coach can be the difference most of the time. No sarcasm just questioning the theory. ozen ALWAYS puts the most talent on the field. either them or central. jus no coaching.. Newsflash...Central is in the third round of the playoffs...Seems like some pretty decent coaching to me. I agree Soulja, you have a very good coach and he is a class act. As long as he is there Central will be a force to be reckoned with. Thats why I referred to Ozen, as much talent as anyone they just can't find the right leader. Another good example is West Brook, Stump took them from the joke of Beaumont to being a state power. Thats what I was replying to mamajag about, why couldn't " the players" there just win before Stump took over. If it was just one season we could write it off as a good group of kids but I believe he has built a program.
  20. These folks are one of two things: 1. There were many Burnett supporters within the PNG community, and maybe it is them speaking up now. 2. Or is it, the outsiders that knew every play we were running before it was called. If I were you I wouldn't want to see him go either. Maybe some remember last time we sank to this level what happened when we brought in a whole sale change. But no need to worry yet, we will have to wait and see if the powers to be hire the right man( and he will apply). I feel its a little of both.
  21. I agree, your coaches(notice its plural) have built a first class program. Changing anything would be crazy.
