Just curious, why Anahuac? No place closer available?

Does this hire improve Vidor tho?
If DuBois runs the offense like he did when he was OC, it will be somewhat of improvement. Week to week the scheme was different with him as OC. The last several years we seem stuck on one page of the playbook.

Can’t say am not surprised.

Just saw this game is being moved to Vidor.

Anyone know where the Vidor/Silsbee game will be played? Passed by Silsbee HS on Wednesday and don’t think their stadium will be ready by next Friday.

6-0 Vidor middle of 4.

What’s the stadium size over there? TexasBob list the capacity at 5224. Is that correct?

Deweyville won in 5 innings. Don’t know the score.

Should be a close one and probably one of those “mid-county calls” decides it.

i would think they would both get a look if something were to happen to ehlinger wouldnt you think?
Going off what I saw during the spring game, maybe not. Am excited to see what RJ can do. Think this chance at RB would help him gain some valuable experience. Don’t know why everyone thinks this is the end of his QB career at Texas though. It’s not like the QB never carriers the ball in their offense.

Ill address what needs to be addressed in order. Everyone whos anyone knew shug was PA pride and harrison ran him off because agenda.... diff discussion though.... PAM knocked out in first rd last year so....? The coaching staff would have had to have brought up shug in a discussion in sugar bowl prep to have him discussed for them to talk like they did about him on air... Anyways so when he lines up at QB this year if/when Ehlinger gets injured you'll eat your words???
You forgetting Casey Thompson is the backup QB? I hope he gets his shot. I think he has a bright future at Texas.

Am getting them as well. I’ve also already won 100K in Walmart gift cards as well. It’s getting a little annoying.
-
Anyone know the timeline for completion? Hearing rumors they don’t think it will be done by the first game.

Not just the football field getting a new look.

While I agree with you, and I have two children in athletics currently attending Vidor schools, the bond has attempted to pass one time I am sure of, and possibly twice now? Both times, voted down. At what point do the citizens finally pass the bond, that yes, we so badly need.
I’ve supported bonds in the past. The last one failed in my opinion because it didn’t address needs at all the schools, just focused on a new high school. That’s a good question on what it will take to pass a bond. Am not against the turf, but I want to see the needs of each campus addressed.

That is correct.
In a perfect world I am sure the could happen. But we know it's not. In talking with a few teachers that I know personally, they'll tell you yes, it stinks to be in portables, but they also know it will break our district to pay for the two schools vs just waiting and letting FEMA foot the bill. Most of the parents of kids in those buildings are not complaining either, as they understand the process too.
FEMA is paying for 90% of the cost of the new schools. The other 10% falls on the district. But there are other issues not related to Harvey damage. PFE still has no gym and in portables. VJHS is in desperate need of new classrooms. You have several metal buildings on slabs that have been that way for 30 plus years. Those buildings aren’t meant to be used for that long period of time. Without the passage of a bond, these things have to be addressed some how. This surplus balance seems to be the only way. At this time, turf seems to be a luxury item. It’s just my opinion that these issues not related to Harvey and not having anything to do with FEMA funding need to be addressed. If not now, when?

Anyone plan on attending the Spring game? I’m trying to make it myself
I’ve got my hotel and tickets for the baseball game that day already. Football can’t get here soon enough.

Been deleted once so I will try to stay calm. Bottom line those men do more in a season then most of you guys will do in a lifetime. You have a problem with Jeff then quit hiding behind past pirate, or past pirate 88, or realville and go talk to him, bet you don’t have the guts to.
Just a little criticism got you this fired up? No one is calling for a coaching change. I know the time and sacrifice that no only Matthews but all the other coaches have put in. Matthews has done a greatly job of turning that program around and has the kids buying in. By far he has done more great things that a lot people will ever know. I want to see the best for the kids on and off the field. You don’t think a passing game would compliment that run game? At the end of the day this is nothing more than a discussion.

Here’s all you need to know- how many Quirantes are on Vidor? If the answer is 0, then don’t get your hopes too high. Seriously, your telling me that y’all have talent this year? If so, it must have moved in because there’s never really a lot of talent in Vidor, same as Lumberton. It is what it is, and Coach Matthews gets more out the talent (or lack thereof) than most people would.
“Talent” isn’t all that makes a winning team or program. And yes, Vidor has talent on this team and just the same as every team. Is it D1 talent, maybe not but talent is there. Its how you use that talent and the skills you teach those kids that make you successful. Matthews is no doubt a great motivator and does have the heart of his team. What I think is being asked is why over the last several years has there been a lack to adapt and change your scheme. As a coach you should play to the strengths of your talent and skills, not make the talent and skills play to a specific scheme. Throwing a football is a talent, but it’s also a skill that can be coached and developed. Passing has always been done only out of neccessity under Matthews current scheme. Am not saying a total overhaul of Vidors current scheme needs to happen, but a little added wrinkle won’t hurt. When the people in the stands can call the plays before the snap, you know opposing coaches can too.

No spoiler here. Vidor will keep it close in the first half. Nederland will make the adjustments and Vidor won’t have an answer. Nederland pulls away in the second half and wins by 3 td’s, maybe more.

Realistically, just from my eyeball test, we are not a Top 10 team, much less a playoff team. To me, we look like a top 15-20 team. We are good, not great, or even very good, but the future looks amazingly bright. How we only have 1 loss at this point is based somewhat on luck (just as we have been really unlucky with some losses in the past) and a lot on coaching. The great news is I truly believe Herman is who we hoped and thought he was.
All that being said, i think it’s not if but when this year’s bubble is burst. It could be any week now, and possibly this Saturday (although Okie Lite is not good).
Agree 100%. I believe Texas is 1-2 years out. They remind me of the Astros back in 2015 when they took KC to the limit. Just playing a little above their heads right now, but just give them time.

Everyone but Vidor makes halftime adjustments, lol. It seems to be the theme.
That’s no secret. 28-21 Vidor at the half. 49-34 BH final. No hard to see who made adjustments.

That’s true but we just need to be proficient in the passes we already throw in our run offense. The plays are there but we just can’t seem to execute them well enough. Imagine if we had confidence in those plays and could actually pass the ball more. They need to work on it because it would be nice to pass the ball on 1st or 2nd down, not just 3rd or 4th and long.
I would like to see us not under center every play. We need to put in some schemes with the QB in the shot gun. Our line is not use to pass protection blocking, so this will help the QB out and not have to roll out for passes. You can also run from the formation as well. Play calling just seems to be stale. Not seeing anything new from week to week. It’s not hard for teams to defend against you when you’re not showing anything different from week to week.

He’s probably one of the top powerlifting coaches around and has produced numerous state champions. Not to mention one of the nicest guy you would ever met.
