  1. I’m guessing Greinke, Verlander, then Cole in the first 3 games. Gonna be a slugfest if a series! 7 game series are different and bullpen use can come into play. It’s nice banking on 6-7 innings out of the 3 mentioned earlier. I think it’s good to have Greinke pitch at home and Cole pitch on the road in the first 3 games, Cole has been so dominant that the ballpark around him is meaningless.

Cole strikes out the side on 10 pitches in the 2nd inning. 5 Ks in two innings. Simply amazing.

I know its a long shot, but the fan in me wonders if they can make enough revenue by going and winning the world series then breaking off some of that revenue to sign Cole? If they do somehow resign him, that pretty much means either Springer or Correa will be gone though. There are other ways they can save money as well. Let Reddick go and let Tucker become the every day right fielder on a rookie contract.

  3. About as ugly of a first half as I could imagine, a little better in the 2nd half but a lot of work needed before the ou game. I will give credit where credit is due, the Stills brothers on the d-line are ball players and the kids from wvu have played extremely hard, but depth and better athletes took over in the second half.

The win last night secured home field thru ALCS. How would world series be determined? Best record or head to head?

Best overall record and in the case of a tie, best head to head record but since they didn't play the Dodgers this season it goes to the best division record (which the Astros own). Astros magic number for home field advantage in the WS is 1 with Verlander pitching tonight and Cole pitching the last game of the regular season tomorrow.

  5. Michael Oros coaches high school baseball at Kingwood and coached the Victoria Generals in the Texas Collegiate League for the past 5 summers. Played college ball at SHSU when Pierce was there and then bounced around a few independent league teams, mostly the Florence Freedom, for a few seasons before calling it quits to focus on coaching. DM me for more info about him or his contact info. Great baseball mind and even better guy.
