  1. Who are we whippin' again? I forget.
  2. Lumberton will hopefully do better this year. Nobody "hates" Lumberton. Quite frankly, nobody has a reason to. Will they be a "force to be reckoned with" this year? Hell no. They will still stink. Maybe in a few years, some of these outrageous claims will be backed up.
  3. Interesting question. I don't usually think "great running backs" when I think about Nederland, but if I had to pick one, Sumrall is certainly the name that would pop up. I've heard tons about Mosley and he seemed pretty good in the one game he played in against WO-S, but I'd still say Sumrall.
  4. Yeah, we lost a scrimmage to Lumberton in 00 before going 15-1, so I won't put much stock into this either way. It would be nice to see a win. As far as my crow, I'm not sure - I've never had it.
  5. I was there at the qualifying tournament as well. I certainly didn't notice ANY of what you mentioned in either of those games - both of which WO-S won with much thanks to Earl. Maybe you should change your name.
  6. Which team's 10-year playoff streak will not extend to 11 (if you HAD to pick one)?
  7. Prayers from Orange as well. God be with them.
  8. Since when did 13 divided by two equal three? Let's see: we played Jasper, Bay City, Bridge City, Palestine, Giddings, Wimberley, Nederland, Beaumont Central, Anahuac and Huffman. 10 of those teams made the playoffs and one won the state championship. I'd say every team has a pansy game or two. If you're implying that he's ranked highly because his stats are padded by an easy schedule, you need to check your facts. Yeah, a few of the teams were "lousy," but there were some powers in there as well.
  9. Yeah, tilley, but we did that with Bay City, Nederland and Central, and people have heard of those teams. In reality, WO-S has nothing to prove except those of us who have endured the razzing from the BH guys. I don't know how much stock to put into the outcome. After all, if these two teams are as "close" as some claim, WO-S beat Kville last year by 35 points in just such a game, whereas BH got bounced by them in the playoffs. So I don't know how much anyone's claims will be validated. Still, at least we'll be seeing good athletes on both sides of the ball.
  10. Did that happen the same year as when K'ville beat WO-S, or was that this past year that the 'Cats beat you? Wait... BOTH years? Man, y'all suck...
  11. According to Scout.com, Earl is the #18 CB in the nation and #3 in Texas behind Wells and the kid from Gilmer, who is #1 in state. [Hidden Content]
  12. Hmmm... I guess I misunderstood when gostangs said "in Texas." Beasley was the #6 CB in the nation last year. Earl isn't quite there yet.
  13. I heard that Donald Driver's brothers play for da bumblin bears. One is named President and the other is named Marvelous Driver.
  14. As far as your "not playing" comment, I'd just like to point out that ANYONE can play in Deweyville - I've seen the footage. There are players out there that my great grandfather could dominate. I didn't even know uniforms came that small.
  15. THAT'S what I was looking for, Critter DP1, it looks like YOU are the one getting offended. I think it was clear that my post was in keeping with the norm on this site. I was merely pointing out that we live in a small city, while you live in a little one-horse town. By "backwoods," I figured they meant tiny, country and out of the way... hillbilly, if you will. I have known two people from Dville, and their names were Gator and Tater. You always knew who they were because their names were labeled on the backs of their pickup truck windows with the little black-and-white stick-on block letters. Occasionally, though, you'd see Tater's foot hanging out of Gator's winder. You could always tell on count of the missing toes. From time to time, Uncle Dad would be in the truck bed with Dog and Other Dog. THAT is backwoods.
  16. Cool. Actually, we were 12-1 overall. The one loss WAS to Wimberley. I'm excited about our team this year.
  17. I heard that that Wimberley team went 15-0 to win state. How about Kirbyville? I know they lost to WO-S in a scrimmage by 35 and came in third in district. How did they fare?
  18. Do you really want to compare Orange to Deweyville - a town whose gross national product is side-of-the-road preserves/flags/shrimp? Come on. A Home Depot, two CVS pharmacies, a super WM, several of each fast food establishment - these things keep us from being "backwoods." I'm not sure what the "animals" comment meant, but I've heard quite a bit of Deweyville/animal stories, so we'll leave it alone. P.S. - How do you know that the toothbrush was invented in Dville?
  19. Looks like the poll is a blowout WO-S defense will be one of the stoutest in the area. Almost the whole line is back with good LBs and one of the best DBs in the state. WO-S by 3 scores.
  20. Beasley. I think we have a great shot at a title run this year, but with the current team and Beasley at QB, I think we'd be unstoppable.
  21. Same reason WO-S/BC can't be a "rivalry for at least five more years. WO-S is undefeated in something like 16 games. No doubt the Nederland "game" being referred to is the controversial 2000 game in which Paul Thomas returned a dropped "lateral" for a TD to seal the win for WO-S. Although admittedly replays show that the ball was moving SLIGHTLY forward, NED coach Larry Neumann even admitted on Chalk Talk that it was a trick play and that refs were briefed before the game that it was coming and NOT to blow it dead. It was a fake incomplete that the Ned WR was supposed to pick up and run with. He even said "It's worked before, but it's also come back to bite us in a big way." Still, I can't blame ned folks for holding that play in their heads, even though the WO-S 2000 D, which I think to be our best ever, would never have allowed a score anyway I think our biggest rivalry, honestly, is with Bay City. To be a "rivalry," the record has to be SOMEWHAT close. I think we're 5-2 or 5-3 with them, and it's always a great game. The Jasper series is my favorite, but the odds are very heavily in our favor despite the fact that it's usually a barn-burner. With cross-town teams LC-M and BC, the record is so heavily weighed in our favor that it can't POSSIBLY be considered a rivalry, even though our hatred for LC-M, for their unscrupulous (according to the UIL) way of dealing with our DQ in 92, surpasses all others.
  22. He was a candidate, for sure. There were quite a few who I wanted to put on there who just wouldn't fit. Kerry Franks, Jermaine Hope, Roy Locks, Michael Ledet, Jermaine Feathers, etc.
