  1. It just looked like a terrible team to me.
  2. Really? Dugat hasn't committed D1 yet, has he? Earl's a UT commit. Big difference indeed. I guess we could have put up y'all's one TD and the other four of ours.
  3. I can't say I blame you for following a team other than those eagles.
  4. You've had similar remarks deleted from this site - like the one about the Orange DQ. I'm glad you know what we did in 86. Are you aware of what we did on Saturday? Is that a little bit more current history? Feel free to call names. Your true colors are already out, so there's nothing to smear.
  5. I think last night will be good armor to keep anyone from BH from getting under our skin anymore. We were unsure, considering all the praise we'd heard about them (mostly from BH posters). But that was sort of embarrassing last night. Truth be told, all of the lead-up ribbing helped make last night fun. If I had never met Jody here, I don't know if I even would have gone to a scrimmage against Barber's Hill. All the talk gave the game some meaning at least. Otherwise it would have been like beating Lumberton (honestly). And you know, it sort of was.
  6. Really? I actually thought it was perfect weather.
  7. Hey man, maybe you should read your OWN posts before you try to sound like a reading teacher: YOU wrote: THAT is what I was responding to when referring to the fourth back, not before the half. READ. I responded to the comment about trying to score before the half by referencing our game against BC last year, in which a 20-point halftime lead was almost not enough. Any team that lays down at the half is not coached very well. Maybe that's a Coach Price thing. Before you go off on somebody, make sure you know what YOU wrote so that you don't sound silly. You guys have messed with us for years and it occasionally has gotten under our skin. However, I think last night put that to bed. USC doesn't listen to barbs from North Dakota State too seriously.
  8. From the looks of this story, there are some questions there. By RUSH WOOD NEDERLAND - Colby Miller is the best strong side offensive tackle in the Nederland football camp. Still, Nederland coach Larry Neumann went into Saturday night's scrimmage against Silsbee hoping that either Stefan Huber or Josh Miller might show enough mettle to perhaps merit earning a spot on the No. 1 offense. That's because Colby Miller, no relation to Josh, is a returning mainstay at strong side tackle on the Bulldog defense, and Neumann would prefer to hold the number of two-way starters to a minimum, especially in the hot-weather early weeks of the season. Neither Huber nor Josh Miller came through with any spectacular plays in their first full-fledged test of the 2006 season, but the entire Nederland offense also had a less-than-impressive performance as Silsbee outscored the Bulldogs 1-0 in touchdowns. "I watched them (Huber and Josh Miller) as closely as I could, and my observation is that neither did anything to show that he may have won the position," said Neumann. "Neither did anything that caught my eye, but at the same time, neither made any glaring mistakes. "I think the competition between them is one that will go on at least through the next two weeks and maybe on into the early part of the season. I'm still hopeful that one will step forward so that we'll be able to save Colby mainly for defense but maybe spot him a little offensively in certain situations." Josh Miller started the scrimmage at the strong side tackle and helped provide protection for quarterback Alex Moshier on a 5-yard pass to Micah Mosley to gain Nederland's first down. Huber then replaced Miller and took down his man on an 8-yard run to the opposite side of the field, but the Bulldogs fumbled on their next play. The Bulldogs' No. 1 offense made but two first downs on its opening 12-play possession. When the first-teamers returned to the field later in the 94-play scrimmage, Moshier turned in a 17-yard run and a 10-yard completion to Darren Washington, but the drive soon stalled. Mosley, who wound up with 58 yards on eight carries, ripped off a 19-yard run on the final play of the No. 1's second possession, but the Bulldogs never seriously threatened against the Tigers, who came up with one fumble recovery and held the 'Dogs to 3-for-11 in the passing department. "We didn't show a lot of offensive polish by any stretch of the imagination," said Neumann. "We were out of sync for some good reasons, but those reasons won't work next week (when the Bulldogs scrimmage Jasper) or two weeks from now (when they open the regular season against La Marque in Houston's Reliant Stadium). "We're not even close to satisfied, but we're not disappointed to the point that we won't get a lot better. We weren't expecting to be hitting on all cylinders. We're confident we can get to where we want to be." Meanwhile, both Josh Miller and Huber expressed confidence in their abilities to contribute to the offense. "The coaches are going to play the best player, and I would like to be that player, but if I'm not, I'm all for what is best for the team," said Josh Miller, a 6-0, 210-pound senior who has earned two letters as a backup linebacker. "I need to fire out hard off the ball and make some strong blocks. "I'm still learning the position, and it helps to have some experienced guys up there like Matt Molina and Phillip Biehle, who have been helping me." At 6-4 and 220, Huber is the larger of the two, but he's a sophomore with only freshman team experience. "I would love to earn a spot on the first team, but if Josh is the one who steps up, I will say, 'Go Josh,'" said Huber. "I need to step up my blocking and get a little more quickness. "I'm feeling a little pressure from not having varsity experience, but playing on Friday night is what it's all about, and I'm hoping I can experience that." Jordell Elam scored the scrimmage's only touchdown when he broke free at the line of scrimmage and sprinted 70-yards on the first play by Silsbee's No. 2 offense. He was the Tigers' leading rusher with 85 yards on three carries. "This is the first time in a long, long time that we have held our first scrimmage opponent without a touchdown," said Bobby McGallion, Silsbee's head coach. "That's a big bright spot, and it certainly gives us something to build on, although we have a lot of work ahead of us if we're going to get to where we want to go."
  9. I'm shocked that he's still not showing his face. He's not a Vidor "fan," but he supports them after BH blew them out (no offense) last year. I'm expecting a good game. At least, I hope it's a game-situation scrimmage and not just a glorified practice...
  10. Well, we only returned 7 on each side, so that evened it out then.
  11. Sorry, griff, but you're wrong on a few of those: "30 Hours Till A Thumping†This was pretty accurate. It's on tomorrow, get ready for some real competition There was a pretty good competition between two excellent candidates for starting QB for the Mustangs. Also, BH competed to see who was going to not hang on to the ball (or the ballcarrier). I think WOS is in for a suprise I think he's right on this one. I expected a 4A (or at least 3A) caliber team to show up against us.
  12. In this case, piratefan was PRETENDING to smack talk, and even said so. We were telling him he had to do better and playing along.
  13. It all blurs together, GS. But I do think that's the kid from "Eight is Enough."
  14. I think we did in 83 or 82, but that was it.
  15. Direct that post to Jody. That's who kicker was referring to, I'm sure, and that's who has cast a negative reflection on BH. We've lost games in the past. We know what it's about. We're still here. Let's not act like we're going to lose a game and collapse. Jody has pushed and pushed and pushed by picking on WO-S fans for fun. When his team gets DOMINATED by the team he has spent years dogging, you've got to expect some (hilarious) backlash. Sorry.
  16. He was banned from the WO-S site for making racially-insensitive remarks and has had similar remarks deleted from this site. It's not the same, kicker...
  17. The "smack" was totally good-spirited and joking on both sides. If ANYONE took it as "smack," they didn't read it all. This over-moderating is going to become a problem, guys.
  18. WO-S's third (or fourth?) RB played half of the final quarter and carried every play. It was the equivalent of taking a knee. Last year we were up by 21 at the half against BC and they made a game of it. Of course we were still trying to score. That's how you win.
  19. Good... then that should leave the QB wide open
  20. You should hire Jody. He's out of a message board job at this point.
  21. For WO-S: The kicking was obviously sad, but we looked very explosive on offense and sloppy on defense. For a first scrimmage, I think we did okay. With no trash intended, I don't think we were up against a great opponent, so we will have to step things up in two weeks. I think we're going to have a great year. Earl, Garrett, Bevil and Franks were outstanding. Penalties hurt us on a few drives. If things shape up, we can realistically exceed what we did last year. With no disrespect to our current QBs, if we still had Beasley behind center, there would be no stopping us. For BH: I'm not sure where to start. The line was very, very soft and the coverage on deep balls (with the exception of one play) was non-existent. The DBs simply couldn't hang with our top two receivers on long passes, and our receivers outplayed them on the short ones. Even the screen passes blew them up. Depauldrick and (especially) Earl ran at will. On offense, I didn't see any "playmakers." The QB made a nice run, but was swallowed up on the other six or seven attempts. There was a huge "we're not shut out" celebration. There was also a little "sack dance" at one point when they were already down three scores. Act like you've been there - and look at the bigger picture. Holding on to the ball is a problem - especially when a big hit was imminent. They did seem a bit scared to get popped. The QB took a major shot at one point and got up quickly, so kudos on that. Overall, I think they'll compete in district but will make an easy first-round win for somebody in the playoffs.
  22. It's too obviously sarcastic, pirate. You've got to tone it down a little.
  23. Vidor is a tough place to play, no doubt. I think we'll be okay - maybe not as hot as last night, but okay. Anytime we lose outright, Hooks always gives credit. I'm looking forward to the scrimmage if it's a "game situation." I hope it is.
