  1. Yeah, we've really been lucky to be in a nine-team 4A district and now an eight-team 3a district with six playoff teams from last year. We must have info on somebody at the UIL office to be so lucky, huh? Yeaaaah all those years of domination in 4A, we were only facing district opposition from teams like PN-G, Nederland, PA Lincoln, etc. Cream puffs. We've been lucky. Look, this has nothing to do with "WO bias." Why would we have an axe to grind with Lumberton? Enjoy it while we can? What does that even mean? Are you guys gunning for us? Guess what - wrong classification.
  2. Obviously the offense will be different - and probably somewhat less potent - without Beasley. However, I expect the defense to be MUCH better this year. I honestly believe we'll have a better overall team this year than we did last year. Even offensively, we are stacked with 2 D1 commits and a few underclassmen who are certainly D1 prospects. While I respect your opinion, I think we'll be ALMOST equally successful this year, even if it is through different channels.
  3. Well, we have our entire defense back, plus Earl Thomas (UT commit) and Jacoby Franks (Tx Tech commit) and newcomer of the year Depauldrick Garrett. Plus, when have we been "not good?"
  4. I did hear you - loud and clear. I'm just not a believer at this point.
  5. Judging from some of the Lumberton fans' confidence, I think the Raiders will be a big disappointment compared to expectations over there.
  6. awww. Bless your heart. I'll give 'em 2-8. Undefeated in JV means about as much as it does in Pop Warner. It doesn't always translate to varsity. We've had some LOUSY JV teams, and when do you remember a LOUSY WO-S varsity team? I don't. It's not the same. I'm sorry, but I can't put that much faith into a team that lost to Gulf Shores Academy. With all due respect, that might be the most embarrassing loss any team in this area has ever had, including the WO-S 84-0 beating of Lincoln back in 93. I'm sorry if this is disrespectful or harsh, but you guys from Lumberton have to understand that NOBODY is going to buy the talk from a team like the raiders until they've at least STARTED to walk the walk. Last year's team didn't even crawl.
  7. How is calling one player a team's savior "slandering" him? Weird statement. I happen to disagree. I think we go 8-2 without Beasley, losing to Bay City and Jasper.
  8. It depends how the teams in 22-4A play. Last year, they would have been far from the toughest. Year in, year out, it's certainly up there. 21-3A is tougher, pound for pound, with six playoff teams from last year.
  9. Unfortunately, I must sell. I think it comes down to WO-S, BC, Silsbee and Jasper. Buy or Sell: Depauldrick Garrett will finish his time at WO-S as one of the school's best-ever RBs.
  10. I buy it also. Buy or Sell: At least two of the three local 3A playoff teams will be from Orange County.
  11. I'm not belittling any team, but I will answer this question. WO-S has won eight playoff games in the last five years. Liberty has won two. WO-S won five of those in 4A (including Lamarque and Calallen) on their way to the state game and three in 3A on their way to the semifinals. Liberty beat Orangefield and Hardin-Jefferson.
  12. Kenneth "Deon" Beasley, no doubt. Coming in not far behind are Eric Anderson, Chris Cole, Kevin Smith, Jeff Thibodeaux and a host of other Mustangs.
  13. LC-M has changed uniforms so many times they could make up their own district of unis.
  14. If they shut down Mr. Texas Tech, Mr. UT will step up.
  15. With the exception of LU, ALL cardinal helmets/uniforms look exactly alike to me. Can't ONE team have a red helmet, for God's sake? My votes for uniform/helmet would be WO-S, Memorial and Nederland.
  16. Coach should have put you in. You'd have won state. I just know it. Good luck w/ finding a better time machine and on healing from the previous one.
  17. I think I'd rather watch Uncle Rico practice his three-step drop in an open field. I'll even hold the VHS camera.
  18. Maybe they'll actually have a highlight this year. Perhaps two? This is really cool for them, but for such an abysmal team to have an ultra-expensive method of showing "highlights" - which are few and far, far between - seems a bit crazy.
  19. Everyone there was wondering about that too, but in the end they didn't qualify anyway, so it was irrelevant.
