Don't go with personality. The all time winning'est coach in all of southeast Texas is overwhelmingly hated by his (home) community and the majority of coaching staffs and general public despise him, due to a poor personality. But, if you care to win 4-5 games a year and everybody's happy, then go with personality. Ha!
You're right I'm sure the opinion is weighed heavily on of someone who carries a school logo of whom hasn't won more than 5 games in how many years and opted up to face potentially "less competitive" schools. But what do I know ha..

Orangefield isn't just about football. I think that's where the difference may lie.

Going out on a limb here, but if the Harmony coach wants to come to Orangefield, they'd be insane not to give him the job. He has had a noted track record of success at each stop he has made and recently made a run to state. I cannot imagine there is another candidate on their list who is as credentialed as him.
Maybe personality traits and/or goals with ALL the sports come to play in the interviews

Wouldn't matter if they were teaching the same system all the way back to the cradle. None of the 3 necessary components exist: coaches, kids & community. All are middle of the road...
Well maybe the new AD will come in and work to clear some of these discrepancies.

The kids that are in 8th, 9th, and 10th grade grew up throwing the ball, A LOT! We have QB development for several that go to private lessons and play 7 on 7. Of course the Slot T was sprinkled in there just to get them used to it, but they didn't start primarily running that until the 8th Grade. Even in 7th grade ball they threw it a lot. The pieces are there and not just for the next two or three years. They just need to be implemented or at least given an opportunity.
Maybe that's the problem. They should be running same stuff. I know peevy worked getting the same concepts for the kids all the way down to the peewee levels at lcm. That's important.
Pretty sure WOS has always ran similar systems all the way down too.

I just don’t understand the thought process behind that decision.
There's no logical reason in my opinion other than thinking it's easier competition in their minds

BC will not be playing HF, WOS, Jasper, or Silsbee in district play.
And still won't be competing for any better placing in district.

I’m not in touch with the program much anymore, but I didn’t do a lot of cheering.
Everybody knows that BC athletes are far superior to those that OF produces in every way, but we also play in a much tougher district. I don’t expect Smallley to have any better results in BC than he did at OF. Who knows? We might even finish as a four seed sometimes.
I mean… if your district is populated by Silsbee, Jasper, HF, and WOS (the old WOS, anyways) you’d want to hire somebody capable of elevating the program to point where you’d be competitive, right?
Or not.
Care to elaborate? Because that's a hilarious assumption 🤣🤣🤣

BC will not be in the 4th seed while playing up. Even though they think it's an easier schedule. It will be the same outcomes I believe. Them opting up if true is a sign of weakness not strength

Not true. Most of ours never sign up… the ones who actually turn out are in it for the long haul.
So you’re wrong again.
Well time well tell. Bc just got their coach.

But I bet he could make half of those OF boys quit the team just by hiring in.
I disagree. I'd say that more about BC than OF personally..

Wrong.
In simple, it's not wrong. My shapes may be wrong. Triangle has 3 points I believe and it's those 3 listed. Beaumont, PA and orange

Huge blow for lcm... Either way we knew he would be/ is on borrowed time for more opportunities

Good. Case closed right? Or 9 more pages coming 😂

You are comparing apples to oranges. You know how much the game has evolved to and changed? But still pound those 1960s offense.
It works better for some. OF being one... LCM for whatever reason was less successful with it.. OF has had more winning seasons with that offense than any other. Not saying they can't or won't. But they operate better from the slot T

Yeah cause that slot t did wonders.
Show me another orangefield offense that produced better...

correct. part of the unspoken point, although through further discourse it's becoming clear I needed to spell things out better
They have a pretty good passer coming up because someones nephew or son can throw the Pigskin a quarter mile they want to change the offense to pro style again for 2 years to cater to the said prolific passer. And go sub .500s trying to throw it deep every play.

it's also worth noting that since they started playing in 1956, Orangefield has NEVER seen the third round, as best as I can tell, although I may have missed one somewhere. From 1956 to 2012, OF made 12 playoff appearances. In the last 10 years they've made 9 playoff appearances. So yeah, the slot-T has been an overwhelming success for the bobcats.
To note, you compare that to ORANGEFIELD non slot t production. It is successful with better output. Non slot t offenses were far worse speaking for OF

Orangefield has both, just aren't utilized currently
Historically I'd say they've had more offensive success in the slot t than any other offense.

Don't be surprised if one of the two I mentioned gets the job
Some don't know the true value of the latter at the current school. Selfishly, Hopefully we get to keep him

Keep watching, because the next 3 years they will have one. Just need to let him throw it.
Can he run too? Won't need to throw if he can run

I disagree. They will have a great coach either way. However that's all I can think of when lcm hired Todd Moody. Which was my experience lol
