  1. I am not going to predict an HF win however the HF underclassmen went 9-1 last year and beat WOS. That coupled with the players they have returning will make the outcome allot closer than 3 TD's.
  2. while I somewhat agree with your statement it is apparent you have not been to Buna or East Chambers stadiums, these two are pretty bad
  3. I think it will be a good game as well. If HF can solve the QB & WR problem they will be hard to beat. This group of Seniors coming back has not lost many games since they have been playing together. Good Luck to the Hawks.
  4. BOBCATS Look to be strong this year. I think 21-3A is going to be allot more competitive than people think. Most of the teams have allot of experience coming back. With that being said I think it will come down to who does a better job in the following areas (not necessarily in this order ): A. - Coaching B. - Health C. - Academics Good Luck Bobcats, until you guys come to Hamshire "Then its on" That first district game between HF and OF will be huge. Winner will have a leg up on a playoff spot. The loser will have some work to do to make the playoffs. I agree. I can hardly wait for the season to start, I am ready for some Friday Night Football. The "Butterflies" are working up a frenzy in my stomach.

  6. Being that you are talking about a team outside of the Golden Triangle. I will have to include the Sealy Tiger's from "Title Town USA". Best I recall back in the late 1990's they put together a 64-0 run and claimed 4 consecutive State Titles.
  7. Obviously your not from our district or you would not be making these statements. Wait and see the Playoff Reps from 21-3A who ever they maybe, will make a deep run. Then come back on here and talk your smack.
  8. Of course...isn't that what being a REAL fan is all about?? Not a "fair-weather" fan...but a TRUE fan. I agree, but I still give the coach an ear full when he calls a "Bone Head" Play.
  9. Wow, HJ sure has allot coming back. 21-3A better watch out, the Hawks look like they could be a force to be reckoned with.
  10. I agree, Jasper's Parking is terrible. I do however like the setting of the Stadium. With some renovations and better parking, this could easily be one of the better 3A Football Stadiums.
  11. There is no bigger HF fan than me, but I heard some news from one of the players this weekend that really concerns me. We have a problem at the QB & WR position, seems that we can not pass and catch the ball very well, so we will run the ball allot more this year. I know we are run team, however last year we did pass the ball with some success. So get ready HF fans if we do not get some type of passing game going we could be in for a long season. Sorry if this sounds negative, I hope to be eating my words this fall.
  12. I can not speak for the rest of the HF fans but our loss to Waco Connally in the 1990 Playoffs has to rank at the Top as the most Heart Breaking loss I ever witnessed. We had a great team that year and went 3 rounds deep in the playoffs however we lacked the depth needed to hold a talented Waco Connally team for 4 quarters. Best I recall HF was winning 29 to 15 at the beginning of the 4th quarter and our Head Coach back then got to conservative with his game plan. I will not mention any names as all HF Fans will know who I am talking about. We had to many 3 and outs and Waco hung 2 td's, an extra point and a two point conversion on us late in the game to claim a 30 to 29 Victory. That by far was the most Heart Breaking loss I ever witnessed.
  13. I participated in HF Athletics in 83,84,85 & 86
  14. Back a few Years ago me and my "TAIL GATE" buddies would go out in the Parking Lot and Slam a few Cold Ones Back and listen to AM 560 KLVI for the the other local Scores. Since then I have found the error of my ways and do not drink anymore, however I still listen to KLVI during halftime.
  15. A Must NOT MISS GAME, AKA: the 2008 Rice Bowl. The two talented teams pitted against one another are the " The Fighting HF Longhorns -vs- The Battling EC Buccaneer's. Better get your tickets now as seating will be limited.
  16. I agree, HF has the capabilities of doing well this year, however they will be in a Dog Fight each and every week as I see no slouches on their schedule.
  17. WOW, HF in a 7 on 7 league I was hoping they would start participating in some 7 on 7 games. It can only help them improve the passing game, which is something we have been lacking. Good Luck Horns I wish you well and please stay healthy.
  18. It's the Hamshire Falcons and the Fannett Longhorns. They got too big and split into two schools for next year. you laugh along time ago before the two schools merged Fannett was the Falcons and Hamshire-New Holland were the Bulldogs. Fannett wore Green & Gold and Hamshire wore Blue & White. That's how the came up with with Blue & Gold for the New school colors, as far as the Mascot I am not sure how they came up with a Longhorn. Maybe there is some one out there that can answer this.
  19. based on seeing how well they played last year here is the Top 2 for sure: 1. Johnson from Silsbee 2. Hypolite from WOS
  20. I think that is good as long as the Coach does not try to do away with the Longhorn Head on the helmet. That Head is part of the HF tradition and I would hate to see it "MESSED WITH". I remember when the helmets were just plain gold in the 90s (like notre dame), the longhorn head has only been there since Coach Walker from what i remember. Do you know if they were there before Tarver? As far as changing, it wouldn't bother me to see a blue HF (offset with H look), and the only reason for this is because of texas university put a patent on "their" longhorn head F and the new logo HF has on their helmet just isn't the same as what it was in the past. And an idea that needs to get started at HF is its fans wearing all blue, it really bothers me that when you go to a game such as the BC/HF game and see the difference between the color contrast in the stands. BC is all red with scattered white, and HF's side has no dominant color, so I'd like to see that change to all blue. Yeah the Longhorn Head goes back further than Tarver, It was either Coach Keoning or Danaher that started the tradition. I hear you as far as the colors go what bothers me is our School Colors are Royal Blue and Vegas Gold yet I still see fans go out and buy Navy Blue & Yellow Gold Team Spirit Apparel.

  22. Hey etbu, HF is looking forward to playing you guys as well. We should have a pretty competitive team next year. We have some size and speed coming back the next few years. How about you guys, Huffman always seems to have allot of size, does George Foreman have any kids still playing? I think the last time we played you guys one of his son's was playing.
  23. great Site, it makes me proud to be one the Longhorns faifthfuls
  24. Same way we do on message boards.......I dont see anything wrong with the statement.....if you were in a position to hire someone and pay them 90k plus a year for a job wouldnt you want to make sure you have the right person.......and not have any reservations about your decision..... That is why you do not offer the job, until you know for certain who you are going to hire. That is why the coach pulled his name "out of the hat" , look at the kind of thinking he would have to put up with.
  25. I can not speak for other teams, however I think H-F is going surprise some people with their defense this year. Most of the guys they have returning are on Defense. In a few positions I think they go 2 deep with returning players.
