Good season Silsbee tough way to go out....I said it'll be this year or next for them to win it however a lot of the good houston schools are moving down to 4A next year so the road back to state definitely won't be as easy.

You must don't realize that many McD's AA don't have successful college careers because many of them were Overrated...we miss-use great and phenom to often...

First of all, it don't matter right now because they all in different classifications. Second, cutting down the net on March 12th should be the only conversation. Good luck to all the team still playing. I'm for 409 no matter what...Please stop all of this childish behavior. Personally, I don't care about the past or who is better. All I care about is the next opponent.

Congrats to Coach Todd Sutherland, for putting his name with some of the greats to ever coach the game! Todd is not just a great coach, but also a great man. He always gives the credit to the great players he has coached, and the coaches who he has coached with. Also Todd has made the playoffs in all 23 years as a head coach , for sure a HOF career, and he isn't done yet!

Just for the sake of the argument, Kountze never lost to Ozen by double figures under the helm of Todd Southerland. Also Milby was ranked 4th in the nation, and went on to win the 5A State Championship that capped off their undefeated season. I just so happened to be in Kountze tonight for a JH game.

Ozen has some talent not as much as ppl think the program does a great job of developing talent. Which allows guys to flourish in the system like Comeaux who was under the radar ,#0 Tyleor Broussard who has played great, #31 Demonta Patterson,#23 Darrian Jones, and thats just to name a few, plus there are about 3-4 guys on JV who could arguably be on varsity So we love when some ppl think our best players leave and we wont challenge for a state title we just keep reloading.

Let's not forget Boutte's mentor, the legendary Coach Gamble. He could coach a little bit as well

Outstanding post. I'm out of likes or I would have tried to like it twice.
As I've said before, whether it is English, Sutherland, Foster, Saveat, Clay Davis or Sigler (to only name a few), all are outstanding coaches and their schools are lucky to have them. It's the same as when a debate starts on the football side on whose better between Neumann, Cornel T., Dubois, etc.
To be honest, I'm not interested in those debates because as far as I'm concerned, those are rich people's problems. Folks should really count their blessings they have are fortunate to have one of them teaching their kids...

show me love reacted to Dick Vitale in Settling the "greatest SE Texas coach" debate
First off, Nederland's Brian English is an OUTSTANDING basketball coach, and probably an even better PERSON. If you say that what he has done in Vidor and Nederland is anything less than amazing, you do not know anything about the game, and that is OK, because even those that THINK they do, DON'T. He has single handedly taken a cellar dweller basketball program at Nederland and turned them into a LEGIT threat to beat everyone in the district, every year, no matter who he has...THATS coaching....NOW, with that said, you cannot take anything away from the coaches who have succeeded in the playoffs, and have won state championships, NO MATTER HOW MUCH TALENT you "THINK" they may have had. Talented teams get outcoached and beaten ALL THE TIME in the playoffs, so please kill the "they have talent" excuses. Todd Sutherland is an OUTSTANDING basketball coach...You cannot take that away from him just because he happened to coach at talent rich, traditional basketball powerhouses like Kountze, EC, and HJ, so WHY is the first thing that comes out of guys mouths when it comes to Boutte, is "I'd like to see what he does with such and such team without talent"? That's CRAZY! Just give these coaches credit where its due...Head to head wins do not ALWAYS equate to one coach being better than the other either! Would you take Central's rookie head coach over Brian English? I don't think so...But you have to see the overall body of work of these coaches to properly evaluate them, and the majority of people on this board are not qualified to properly evaluate ANY coach. Who is the GREATEST coach in SE Texas? I have my opinion, and everyone is entitled to that. But please remember to give proper credit where it is due no matter WHO you are pulling for, and you are likely to make a more accurate assessment of these guys abilities, even though it won't matter one bit at the end of the day what you think anyway! Just my two cents...

No, I can't see a difference
Question:. Who was comparing English to Boutte? 3 guesses and if all of them don't include an Ozen fan, you can't read.
Once again, English was complimented, an Ozen fan invokes a Boutte comparison that had nothing to do with the original point made. I haven't seen anyone say English is a superior coach to Boutte in this thread. Quite frankly, it's a meaningless debate IMO. To say one thinks Brian is a great coach is not to say Boutte isn't a coaching legend. Understand??
If not, refer to Dickie V's post in the thread he started (nobly I assume to try and keep this one from getting derailed). He clearly "gets it."

Player development at ozen is tremendous...So when you say better players its a reason why...ask bmtsoulja how ozen work...so stop the less talent stuff...

Ozen has only had 4 or 5 D1 players in its 20 year history...
So what is all this talent you guys speak of...its the system...respect greatness...
