WO-S did not hold the score down. The field held the score down for both teams. I walked across the field before the start of the game and it was like walking in the marsh. I walked across the field after the game and it was debits everywhere. Neither team could cut without slipping. Worst condition I have ever seen. Both teams were exhausted after the game. Each step you would take had your feet sinking into the turf  about 2 inches. Hope WO-S gets that bond passed for new turf. The conditions were very bad for both teams.

Newton had three players hurt last week. Two are D1 players. One of those players was out last week also. Not making excuses, WO-S may have a few players out also, but I hope not. The Newton people have a lot of respect for WO-S and I believe WO-S has the same for Newton. Win or lose, Newton and W0-S will still be respected programs.

This year and next year before things start getting better. Kirbyville's JV was just as bad as their varsity. Hopefully the kids will buy into his program and the people will have patience . No coach is going to change this program over night. Best of luck to you coach Jones.

58 to 0 at halftime. Newton only scored 13 points the second half. Newton did keep the score down.

I respect our neighbors, Kirbyville and Jasper. I can remember a few years ago when Kirbyville has a Ford running on all eight cylinders running up and down the field. Hope K-ville gets their program back on track.

Could not be any worse then the Newton/EC game last year.

Wow, WO-S is two divisions higher then Newton, twice as many kids in high school. I assure you, Newton has all the respect for W0-S and Gilmer. Newton playing WO-S is like WO-S playing Aledo and Manvel this year. Let' compare apples to apples. Newton obviously does not have the dept. that the larger schools have. But, don't sell Newton short this year. I think Newton will give a good account of themselves.
