Figuring out why kids quit athletics, there is only one reason. Because, mommy and daddy let them.
I will agree that you are either cut out for football or you are not. Not a whole bunch of in between, and that is what off-season is for, to determine who has what it takes.
On the flip side, I hate these run-oriented coaches who say I would throw the ball more if I just had the kids. See Barbers Hill as the prime example, if you commit to throwing it, the kids will show up.
The bottom line is, if it is not fun then a lot of kids are going to quit. Lots of other options out there for little Johnny.

well said... and we agree on the clock thing... we were on BC side right under the press box and kept SCREAMING at them... BC wasn't happy about the "timekeeper" at ALL... it did not appear consistent... there were HORRIBLE calls on both sides, but from BC it appeared to be leaning Silsbee...   that is the BEST game that BC has played as a TEAM this year.... they meched and EVERYONE did their job... WE NEEDED THAT!!!! Silsbee has NOTHING to hang their heads about... "C" and Cayce Draper started out playing flag football together at the age of 4-5yo.... they have remained very good friends ever since... Draper went over to "C" after the game (knowing C would be upset) and they gave the usual "embrace" and THAT is what it's all about... GREAT HEART, GREAT SPORTSMANSHIP, & GREAT ATHLETES.... This WAS the game of the night (possibly the season) and it was FULL of spirit and heart on both sides... KUDOS TIGERS AND CARDINALS!!!!

If some of you think a district championship doesn't mean much any more because of four teams going to the playoffs, try telling it to Silsbee and Bridge City tonight. Not saying the winner will win district, but both teams knew what was on the line with a win and a loss with only two games left. This was a good game, both teams left everything on the field, you really hated to see a team lose. Good luck the rest of the season. TigerNation

Now as far as the game.  Congratulations BC on a well earned win.  That offense does just what it is designed to do eat up yards and time.  And you definitely have a more speed than I thought. I thought we would at least get a few stops but other than the one we must have had early on we didn't stop you all night. 
Overall this was a game that you really hate to see anyone lose.  Really the only stops were two turnovers.  The difference in this game definitely wasn't the offense or the defense.  And really only one part of the special teams...the kicker.  BCs kicker made every one we missed 3 of 4 extra points.  We did get two 2 PT conversions to cover for a couple of misses but that last one cost us.  And in all fairness to our kicker on that one it really wasn't his fault.  The snap was high and he had to take a stutter step before going on with the kick. That will definitely mess you up.
 And yes this year it definitely is obvious of the officiating shortage/ problem.  I saw some missed calls both ways, naturally I remember mostly the ones that cost us but I did notice some both ways.  I didn't really get to see the interference call that most feel was missed but I did notice a player making motions towards the Tiger sideline that could have drawn a flag.  I also have to wonder why on the first possession of the second half, when BC ran for the first and got the unsportsmanlike, why wasn't it first and 25 like a similar situation in an earlier game.  Want that a dead ball foul after the play?  I don't feel or am not saying in any way that this was the reason we lost but sure would like to see a little better officiating overall.
You know you have always heard if you can't stop a team you can't win, well tonight that was proven true on one side but false on the other.

That was an absolutely awesome game. If you missed it, you missed a gem. Hats off to Silsbee. Congratulations to BC.

Stelly has no allegiance to any one school, he covers BC, WOS, LCM, and OF with a professional enthusiasm that few others can match. He is far from the standard "Rah Rah Homer" that most high school radio guys turn into. He covers several schools and does a great job doing it.

John Kimbrough is an excellent color guy as well.  As a long time official, I love the insight he can bring to the game.  When he joined Gary a few years back, made a good broadcast even better IMO.

You have to be kidding me!  I've NEVER posted anything on here because I simply like to read others opinions, curious as to what they have to say about who.  You homie..have taken it to another level.  Take that picture off your profile you are NOT a PA fan, for starters.  I don't know you and quite frankly don't care to.  I've read every last one of your posts in the PAM vs PNG thread, and I couldn't stay quiet any longer.  You sound like a darn kid man, I hope I'm wrong in saying you are a grown arse man.  You all in your feelings because someone did something to you.  Get over it or go talk to the man yourself, and settle things out.  Don't get on here throwing your little kid fits because it's not the place.  Just how you criticize people, people are going to come back at you.  Whatever way that might be, you reap what you sow.  This is a high school football game and you talking so much trash about something personal, no one wants to read that man!  If and when Memorial wins Friday night...don't even bother congratulating them.  Save it! Move around with your negativity, and let them boys play the rest of the season.  It's one thing being critical about someone's play or coaching, and another insulting someone(and don't say you haven't, believe me...one can feel an insult miles away).  If you such a darn good coach, why ain't you coaching a high school team? Or honestly a pro team, since you are "Mr. I got the game plan." Calvin Tyler has division 1 offers we are all aware of how good he is no one suggested otherwise. Shepherd is a team who will get 2nd in their district and probably win their first round playoff game as well. They aren't a bad football team. Alex ran all over Woodville as well who isn't a terrible football team and could win their district. Orangfield wasn't that terrible either they could see the playoffs, but yes I see Silsbee has played tougher opponents and what Calvin Tyler is doing is MORE impressive than Alex, but that doesn't mean Alex isn't putting up impressive numbers as well. He doesn't have the speed that C Tyler has, but I guarantee if you come watch this MAN on Friday nights you WILL be impressed. 5'11 215 pounds and just runs with pure aggression on every single carry, so many broken tackles this season , and yards after contact, it's a lot of fun to watch.
