Don’t think that 80K a year for 2 years in MV did much for him. I’m actually from MV and he took that job simply because some staunch Baylor alums there in MV roped him into it. I will certainly agree that there has been a complete lack of institutional control there at Baylor (Dave Bliss too) and I don’t think Briles will ever coach college again.

At North Texas? No sir he was knocking on a million there. He may make close to $180,000 at Westlake, but head coaches at FBS (formerly D1) schools are very well compensated…even 10-12 years ago

Got his brains beat in for 4 years at North Texas while also still paying into TRS (at a nice little salary of $770,000 a year). Hence he’ll get 80% of that a year (roughly $53,000/month after taxes) as long as he lives! I’d say those beatings were certainly worth it!

They're in a situation in a lot of DFW schools where they have to build to compete with the Joneses in getting kids in. A lot of SETX schools still have guys that "played back then" without anything like that and don't realize that facility upgrades are things that are important. A lot of school personnel also only think it'll service football but it'll take care of other sports throughout the whole year. They preach they want what's best for the kids but it's all about convenience for them...it's an inconvenience to go and politic around the community to get those things done. Heck, there's even plans floating around for indoors that harvest rain water to be recycled for watering facilities so you can save the district money in the long haul.
I'm surprised Katy hasn't started putting together indoor facilities for their schools. I'm sure once they started doing that others would follow.

Exactly. I just don’t understand the hold up on more schools building them down here. Football is obviously a lot more important up there than it is down here.

While he left Evadale, my understanding is that he still desired to coach. So with most positions becoming set in the immediate area, you take what is available. Also, this is a reunion of Mark Williams with Laurence Williams, the current Kelly AD who also coached at Evadale (boys basketball) so there is that.
Draw retirement and obviously get paid for working at Kelly as they are not affiliated with TRS
