Some people are REALLY not gonna like this but it's how the numbers sort themselves out. All I did was use an algorithm using scores of games between teams that are listed in the official SETXsports 11-man UIL teams schedule section of the board 2A through 6A.  This is how it came out as of today. Teams that are on the outskirts of our geographic area of course are not gonna have as many games included as those that are centered essentially on Beaumont.  North Shore has only played 2 teams that are included in the 74 (which happen to be Channelview and West Brook and they beat both of them) so by no means take any of this to heart or get mortally offended.

The way it works is as follows:

Take your team: Let's say WOS. They have a score of 52.18
    WOS beat LCM by 13 (LCM has 21.00)      21.00 + 13 = 34.00
    WOS beat PNG by 14 (PNG has 42.30)     42.30 + 14 = 56.30
    WOS beat Jasper by 53 (Jasper has 9.68)     9.68 + 53 = 62.68
    WOS beat Silsbee by 21 (Silsbee has 31.19)  31.19 + 21 = 52.19
    WOS beat Newton by 42 (Newton has 14.10)  14.10 + 42 = 56.10
    WOS beat Liberty by 49 (Liberty has 2.82)  2.82 + 49 = 51.82

The average of 34.00, 56.30, 62.68, 52.19, 52.10, and 51.82 equals 52.18 ---- which is the power ranking number that we started with.

If you do the exact same thing with all 74 teams in head-to-head games amongst the other 74 teams you would find the same exact thing.   Yes, I know it doesn't take into account games outside of the SETX area (the larger the number of teams included the more exponential and time-consuming the calculations become and I've done this before statewide but just don't have the time to do it right now) and yes I know it doesn't take into account games that were huge blowouts (Jasper is low because of that 53-0 loss) but it is mathematically sound.  It's also convenient in seeing which games were your worst or best.  WOS consistently got a score of 52-56ish in all their games except the LCM game and the Jasper game which were arguably our worst and best performances against local teams so far.

The cutoff numbers will continue to trend upwards compared to the last realignment with Texas continuing to have a huge population growth mostly concentrated in the DFW, Houston and I35 Austin/San Antonio corridor. If you aren't in those 3 areas you won't move up and the Golden Triangle does not count as Greater Houston.
I think it MUCH more likely there will be 5As dropping to 4A than the reverse. It's not so bad down here. It's essentially the 4A of the 1980s and 90's now what with WOS, Stephenville, LaMarque, Brownwood, Carthage, Henderson, Tyler Chapel Hill, Sweetwater, Paris, LCM, Jasper, Silsbee, Bridge City all dropping in the last 13 years.  I'm pulling this off the top of my head but I think the only 4A State Champs from 1985-1995 that haven't dropped down into the current  4A reincarnation is A&M Consolidated.

Abilene Wylie has a LONG history of their enrollment numbers just BARELY being below the 4A/3A cutoff number (now 5A/4A) with conspiracy theorists saying it's due to their coach of 35+ years Hugh Sandifer having close ties with the UIL and having a lot of input into realignments as president of the THSCA. Highland Park  the same one classification up but more because of all the money in that district. Money talks. This was the first realignment since the 1970's or early 80's I think that Highland Park was put in the largest classification. They're usually one or two students below the cutoff. That's what he meant.

And WOS won't be dropping anytime soon if ever unless the city of Orange gets destroyed by another hurricane. We'd be much larger than we are if it weren't for the two punch of Rita then Ike.

Jasper IS a different team but WOS beat Jasper, Silsbee and LCM and LCM played them the closest by far and was the only one to hold WOS to less than 7 TDs.  LCM 55, Cleveland 6...  BC 42, Cleveland 35.   Just saying I think defense will win...  I'm picking Jasper, Huffman, Silsbee and LCM... BC needs to beat one of the 4 and they haven't yet.

LOL...  woohoo..  So LaPorte got shutout 0-21 by the Woodlands.  Just because they played them doesn't automatically make them all that.  Who have they actually beaten?  A 3-3 Deer Park team by 3 points?  I could complain about EC being ranked ahead of WOS but what's the point?  it's just a stupid ranking made from 11 people's own opinions.  Would EC beat WOS? EC's opponents are a combined 9-17 with only 4-2 Hamshire-Fannett having a winning record and 5 out of 6 of the WOS opponents are MUCH larger schools with a combined 18-15 record and WOS isn't actually that much larger of a school than EC anymore. Chill.  It'll all work itself out after Thanksgiving.

Get back to me when you matter and stop trolling.  Everyone expected this game to be a loss.  WOS got the target off their backs and shouldn't face any team close to this from this point forward.  WOS just went 4-1 against three teams one classification above them and two teams two classifications above them in pre-district.  When's the last time Crosby played a team in a larger classification? 2007 would be the answer.  WOS on the other hand has played 27 opponents in a larger classification since 2007 and has a 20-7 record against them.

Overall 41-6 since 2012 with the remaining 4 losses to state champs Navasota, Carthage and Gilmer and then State Finalist Newton.

I'm already sensing something that needs to be addressed right now. You play 11 at a time. Period. We should have won that game last yr and were one play away from winning it. There are no moral victories. If we do lose then we lose and we need to take like any other loss we've ever had. Learn from it anD get better. Last year I felt like we got satisfied with a close loss and I feel like it's what got us beat against Newton. So, again, they can't put those 3000 kids on the field. Only 11, we need to go into this game expecting to win just like we did against Silsbee.

Silsbee vs Bridge City might be a good game but other than that you guys roll until the playoffs.
