All joking aside, those old people will kill you.
I worked in an auto center when I was college and one day this really old guy came in and wanted his battery replaced for free because he hadn't had it that long.  We walked out to his truck and the battery obviously came from one of our competitors.   I explained that we could definitely test it and replace it if necessary, but he'd probably have better luck at Walmart where it came from.   This guy went from 0-100 in a flash.  He started furiously digging in his glovebox and the look on his face told me that he wasn't trying to find a receipt.  I dipped back indoors.
They helped him jumpstart his truck and he left, and about 45 minutes later his son called and wanted to apologize... said that his dad came home looking for a gun and they took his keys away.

Yes, it does when a candidate's personality precludes them from actually winning an election.  It doesn't matter what the policies are when you can't get elected to install them.

I doubt that Desantis is much different than Trump in regards to political beliefs... I'm not saying he's the guy, but he isn't going to drive people to vote Democrat like Trump does.  Dick Cheney would have made a fine President, he was just unelectable.  Nobody thought Trump had a chance and he pulled it off.   Four years later he got smoked, and has done nothing but further alienate potential swing voters since with riots, suits, charges, investigations, character assassinations on his "enemies," etc... and all but about 25% of voters don't want it.
I'm telling you.... unemployment is at record lows, home prices are through the roof... Biden isn't getting blamed for inflation.  Is the media giving him a pass?  Undoubtedly.  Is there some huge "we need change, and we need it now" movement in the works?  It doesn't seem like it.  Trump is poisonous at this point to all but his most loyal subjects.

Son, the smart fiscal conservatives left the room a long, long time ago.  Except when it comes to the social safety nets, of course.

The best part of the whole thing is how this is actually a result of fiscal policy in the pandemic era.  The tech firms that were the primary depositors in SVB got PPP loans... that swelled the balance sheets at SVB and they needed to park that money somewhere.  They bought securities at low interest rates, then inflation happened across the economy as a whole... the solution was for the Fed to raise interest rates, then suddenly SVB was paying more in interest on funds on deposit than they were making on the securities that were purchased.
Long story short... the government dumped tons of cash into the economy which ended up in banks like SVB, then inflation happened, then the solution to inflation was to raise interest rates, and now the banks are failing because of that chain of events.
We literally dumped Trillions into the economy re: Covid and now we're about to drop billions more to fix the problems caused by the initial dumping.  This scenario last happened in the early 80s when inflation and interest rates went wild.  The bad news is guys who were around at that point are all dead or retired in 2023.

In 2016 Dubois’s BC team threw the ball occasionally. They hit the tailback and what I’d call a tight end numerous times through the season. I felt like Dubois would have opened it up even more if we’d had more arm on the qb.
I have a good friend who played in a wing T system in West Texas all through jh and high school and he came with us to a game or two.  One of the things that he pointed out to me was how our qb would pop his head up on passing plays immediately after faking the handoff.  He was like "yeah, our coach killed me over and over for that..." Dubois will throw it if he's got a kid that's capable.

Year 2 will be very interesting. 2 things have to happen. Kids have to be learning the system. System has to be learning the kids. Coaches had their rookie learning curve. Now they know what didn't work. Should be easy.

You realize that you're just proving DontheCons argument, right?  You're against handouts right up until one comes along that you agree with.
"When the government ruins lives by purposely allowing slavery for almost 80 years, who should be held responsible?"
"When the government ruins college students' futures by loaning college students money that they can't pay back, who should be held responsible?"
"when the government destroys the fortunes of slaveowners by outlawing slavery and freeing slaves with no compensation to their previously lawful owners and bankrupting them, who should be held responsible?"
When the government mandates an evacuation, should they also give handouts to businesses for lost revenue during the evacuation?
But to answer you question, the guilty "party" in the shutdown was the virus itself. Good luck collecting your handouts from COVID 19, though.

I never like to get in the way of somebody's trip in the wrong direction, but you have to ask yourself... "why would Francis Scott Key wake up on the morning after a great battle, half expecting to see that the United States was no more, write a song about it, then suddenly toss in a verse about how much he despised slaves?"  He didn't.

"The War of 1812 was caused, among other things, by Great Britain’s attempt to restrict U.S. trade and America’s desire to expand its northern territory by annexing Canada. By 1810, more than 15 percent of the U.S. population was enslaved, and British forces recruited escaped slaves to fight for the slaves’ freedom against the American militia. This unit, referred to as the Colonial Marines, was part of the British forces that overran Washington, D.C., in 1814 and
This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up . So when Key references the “foul footstep’s” of the “hireling and slave” who “no refuge could save” from “the gloom of the grave” in the third verse, he’s referring to the killing of Colonial Marines."
You can look at it through whatever racially tinged glasses you wish, but sometimes you should just ask your self "why?"
I'd also like to point out that these black men (the "hirelings and slaves")  joined with British forces to torch the White House.  That really had to bother a slave owner like Francis Scott Key.... But you also have to remember that in his later years Francis Scott Key also won several legal battles that helped slaves gain their freedom.  I also like to point out the similarity between the blacks that fought back against the US government in 1814 were just as seditious and treasonous as the Southerners who did the same thing just 40 short years later.
Time has a funny way of changing the way that people feel about things.  How can one group of people hear the same song and be moved to tears like the Philly Coach at the Super Bowl and the next guy hear the same song and refuse to remove his hat or get out of his seat?  It's all about upbringing.  One group is taught that it's all of us together and the other group is taught to look for things to be be mad about.  In this case a third verse that nobody has ever even heard.

This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up 1973.  I read about it a while back and the story is that a black man responded to an "apartment for rent" sign.  He was told by on-site management that the unit had already been rented, then a white woman inquired about the apartment and was shown the unit as still being available.  Upon pressure the on site manager claimed that he was just following orders, but that was something that the Trumps denied at the time.  The case was settled with the Trumps agreeing to publish ads welcoming black applicants and to also Familiarize themselves with the Fair Housing Act.... the Trumps didn't admit guilt either.

It's important to remember a couple of important facts.... first, the Fair Housing Act (1968) had only been in effect for four years when the incident occurred... an incident in which Trump was not accused of having any direct involvement, and for which he denied any knowledge of.   Imagine that in 1972, somebody walked into a Hilton Hotel and was denied service, presumably because of their race... then in 2023 people are pointing at the 1972 episode as "proof" that Paris Hilton is a racist, even though most of us are pretty sure she bangs black dudes.

Here's the thing.... there are many, many, people more capable of being President than Trump.  The belief that "Trump is the only one that can save us" is just a bad joke.

And your math just proves my point.  A lot of people didn't care for Obama, and a lot of people were just "meh" about Romney.... TRUMP DRIVES PEOPLE TO THE POLLS TO VOTE AGAINST HIM.   He's his own worst enemy.
I've said it before... a candidate has two jobs.... 1.  Make it easy to vote for him and 2. Make it hard to vote for the other guy.  Trump made people vote against himself through his repulsive behaviors and that hasn't changed... guess what?  The people who said "I'll vote for anybody BUT Trump" haven't changed their minds since they voted against him last time.  There aren't millions of people out there going "sheesh!  I've learned my lesson-we need Trump!  He's the only one who can do this job."  No one is saying that except the minority of voters that blindly support Trump.  I'm talking about you, sir.
